Friday Estimates: Fantastic Dominates Charts But With Just $297 Million
As expected, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them easily earned first place on Friday. However, it only managed $29.7 million, which was well below expectations. This is the worst opening day in the Harry Potter franchise since The Chamber of Secrets. The reviews are weaker than the franchise as a whole, but its CinemaScore is an A and thats roughly average for the previous 8 Harry Potter films. The film should still earn between $70 million and $75 million over the weekend, depending on if the high CinemaScore can overcome the Fanboy Effect. Davis Is An Acting Legend
After “Harry Potter,” Davis continued acting in a number of “Star Wars” films, including “The Force Awakens” , “Rogue One” , “The Last Jedi” , “Solo: A Star Wars Story” , and “The Rise of Skywalker” . He also voiced a character on Disney XD’s “Star Wars Rebels.”
Davis went on to star alongside Rickey Gervais on HBO’s “Life’s Too Short” from 2011 to 2013 and appear in “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” .
Most recently, he was voicing Sniff on Sky One’s “Moominvalley” starting in 2019.
Davis is currently set to reprise an iconic role from his past: Willow Ufgood. An upcoming “Willow” TV series is reportedly being developed for Disney+.
The Snogging Scenes Weren’t All They Were Cracked Up To Be
As popular as the series has been, romance was never a big part of “Harry Potter,” despite the central relationship between Harry, Ron, and Hermione leaving itself open to a juicy love triangle. After all, the relationship between Harry and Hermione was always that of a brother and sister, and it took Ron and Hermione until the final movie to profess their love for each other with a kiss.
But as exciting as that kiss was for fans to watch, filming it was not fun for Rupert Grint or Emma Watson. In an interview with People Magazine, Grint explained, “I’ve known Emma since she was literally 9 years old, and we had this very brother-sister relationship.” Watson concurred, telling Movies Ireland, “It’s purely the fact that he’s like my brother, and we were both totally in the same boat. I’m sure he will tell you exactly the same thing. It was very strange and very weird.”
The troubles didn’t end for Watson, who also had a kissing scene with Daniel Radcliffe. Once again, there was the whole “brother-sister” feeling to get over for the two actors, and the presence of Rupert Grint proved distracting. “When they were there actually filming that kiss, they did actually want me there to kind of play off something, but I just found that too funny,” Grint told J-14. “Emma sent me out because I kept laughing. It just looked really strange.”

Weekend Prediction: Is Grindelwald Committing Crimes Against The Harry Potter Franchise
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is the latest installment in the Harry Potter franchise, but sadly, its reviews are, by far, the worst in the franchise. It should still have no trouble earning first place and will very likely break even just on its international numbers, but this is still troubling for its future. The second biggest release of the week is Instant Family and its reviews are good, but not great. They are certainly fine for a family comedy. Widows is the best-reviewed new release, but its buzz is quiet enough that it will barely finish in the top five. Meanwhile, A Private War is expanding nationwide and that could help it earn a spot in the top ten, but I wouldnt bet on it. This weekend last year, Justice League opened with $93.84 million, while Wonder debuted in second place with $27.55 million. Add in The Stars $9.81 million opening and the three wide releases pulled in $130 million. Daniel Radcliffe Starred As The Antagonist In ‘now You See Me 2’
It seems like Daniel Radcliffe couldn’t totally get away from the magic world in films, at least until 2016 when he portrayed a young tech tycoon in Ed Solomon’s heist magic thriller Now You See Me 2. The film picks up what the previous movie left off: the fugitive Four Horsemen are working to help Radcliffe’s character steal a data chip before the final shocking twist surfaces. Despite its mixed reviews from the critics, Now You See Me 2 grossed $334 million worldwide.
How To Watch Harry Potter Movies Online
In the US as of May 2021, as well as being able to rent or buy the Harry Potter movies on services like Amazon, they’re all streaming on the Peacock service. At the time of writing, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban are available to stream for free with ads, while the rest are behind the paywall. From June 1, all eight movies are available to stream on HBO Max again, too.
In the UK, you can’t currently stream the movies, but you can rent them on Amazon, iTunes and more. The complete Harry Potter series is also available on Blu-Ray.
The Fantastic Beasts movies aren’t currently streaming in the US or the UK.

The special, streamed from the London set of the first movie, will hit HBO Max on Jan. 1, New Year’s Day.

International Box Office: Fantastic Has A Beast Of An Opening With $1433 Million
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opened in first place on the international chart with $143.3 million in 63 markets. The film had the biggest opening of the Harry Potter franchise in 16 of those 63 markets, but ironically not in the U.K., where it had its biggest opening. The film debuted in first place there with $18.90 million in 666 theaters. This is the third best in the franchise behind the two DeathlyHallows films. Some of the markets where Fantastic Beasts set the franchise record include South Korea, where it made $10.64 million on 1,431 screens over the weekend for a total opening of $14.15 million.
