Avoid Restrictive Or Trendy Diets

If your goal is weight loss, it can be tempting to find a diet that will show quick results. However, a lot of these will result in cravings, lack of energy, and a difficult regime. Instead, look for diets that encourage balance and the inclusion of all food groups to maintain a holistic and balanced menu.

Were taught about food groups as kids for a reason, says Daniel Sathyanesan, CEO and Founder of Winden. The overall goal of food groups is to make sure youre getting the appropriate amount of each type of food and nutrient in your diet. Researching balanced diets or even talking to a nutritionist about what you should be including in your diet are great places to start.

It Has A Chiastic Plot Structure

The Harry Potter books actually have a chiastic â or symmetrical â plot structure. This image explains how events that happen in the first book are mirrored in the seventh, the second mirrors the sixth, and so on. Dont Expect To Meet Every Goal On Time

Understanding that your life is a bit unpredictable and stressful can help you set goals. This doesnt mean that youre limiting yourself or setting the bar so low that you wont see results, but you should ultimately be able to customize your goals to fit your life.

Setting goals is important, but you also have to take everything else into account, says Reece Kresser , Co-Founder of Zizi. Give yourself a bit of leeway when it comes to reaching the goals youve set. If your overall goal is improved health and fitness, stressing over reaching goals that might not happen because of other uncontrollable events that popped up isnt going to help you achieve that goal.

While Voldemort is mostly remembered as the most evil character in the series, it is easy to forget just how influential he was. Even long after the disappearance of his boyish charm and rugged good looks, he had mastered the ability to manipulate and lead others. The Death Eaters – terrible morals and deeds aside – were followers whose loyalty and abilities Voldemort often prided on.

Although this quote from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is meant as a tactic to get Harry to forego the stone, it also shows Voldemort’s deep-rooted acknowledgment of Harry’s desirable qualities as well. Despite his rivalry with the boy, he was still able to appreciate the young wizard’s formidable traits and talents.

It also hints at character development, as a future Lord Voldemort relies heavily on his Death Eaters, especially once he comes back to destroy Harry. While a young Tom did not trust Dumbledore, a future Voldemort learns of the power in numbers and shares the work amongst his henchmen.

What Harry doesnt know is that Dumbledore is planning something even bigger a plan that he, Harry, becomes more inexorably entangled in with each passing day.

At the same time, Harry suspects Malfoy to be colluding with Voldemort, and begins obsessively tracking him on the Marauders Map. But each new lead just seems to be a wrong turn, and Harry grows increasingly frustrated with the lack of evidence when he knows that Malfoy is guilty. His only good luck, funnily enough, is in potions class. After receiving a secondhand textbook filled with tips and tricks from the mysterious Half-Blood Prince, Harry shines under the tutelage of their new potions professor Slughorn. Hermione, meanwhile, is jealous of Harrys newfound academic success, and attempts to uncover the Princes identity to prove hes crooked.

Sirius Black, The Order of the Phoenix

Okay, I am cheating a little here. These lines were spoken by Sirius Black in Book 4, not Book 5. But the real lesson from these words comes in Book 5, when Sirius is himself betrayed by his house elf Kreacher, whom he never treated well. Though Sirius was not a cruel man and, in general, treated house elves with kindness, he paid for his continued mistreatment of Kreacher.

It is very easy to be polite and courteous to ones social or professional equals. But to extend the same to those not at our level shows true strength of character. This could be something as simple as thanking someone for his or her services, or as big as going out of your way to help someone else, man or animal. All it takes is a little mindfulness and a lot of respect.

Mad-Eye Moody, The Goblet of Fire.

Well, this ones slightly ironic because it was said to Harry by a Death Eater impersonating Mad-Eye Moody. But it makes a lot of sense, so Im putting it here anyway.

In Book 4 of the HP series, Harry does not attempt to learn and perform advanced magic as do the other contestants of the Triwizard Tournament. Instead, he chooses to fly something he is extremely good at. In fact, one of his competitors, Viktor Krum, an international Quidditch player whos also a great flyer, does not even think of flying! Needless to say, Harry wins this round.

There is so much talk about improving on your weaknesses. We are taught, right from our schooldays, to identify what we are weak at, and work extra hard to catch up. Ive had to take up remedial classes for math in my tenth and twelfth classes, so I know how much of a struggle this can be.

No doubt there is a benefit to this approach. But even as we struggle with what pulls us down, can we also look at playing to our strengths? This is, in fact, the basis of Cliftons StrengthsFinder assessment. His premise is that if everyone identifies his or her own strengths and chooses to work in roles where these can be leveraged to the fullest, each person will become a super achiever, and attain satisfaction. Interesting thought!
