Why Is Order Of The Phoenix Book So Long

I READ ALL 7 HARRY POTTER BOOKS IN 7 DAYS

Harry was moved around a lot in Phoenix. It is one of the reasons Phoenix is so long. Traveling abroad for the first time required him to travel, for which he took time just getting to the place and then bringing him home. During that stretch, there is really nothing like the Hogwarts, thus the length was also higher.

Harry Potter And The Cursed Child: The Eight Book Or Not

Just seven books! That was J.K. Rowlings promise to her ever-growing fans, most of which might have become a bit more matured now.

In 2007, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows hit the shelves. And it was the seventh and final book in the Harry Potter series, according to J.K. Rowling herself. She even said her goodbyes after releasing the book.

In the Harry Potter series final edition, teenage romances were finally resolved, prophecies got fulfilled, and all thirst for more adventure was satisfied.

But in July 2016, it seemed like fans were going to get a new Harry Potter adventure to rekindle the passion they once had for the fantasy novel. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child got released.

Seeing J.K. Rowlings name boldly written on the books front cover, most fans quickly thought that their beloved fantasy writer was back to business. It seemed like she had thought about continuing the Harry Potter series.

So, are the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child a canon? Was it the eighth book in the series?

Unfortunately, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child go against everything a canon should be. So its literarily not a canon.

The book is a play and not a novel. It was also written by Jack Thorne, a Potter enthusiast, and British playwright.

The Cursed Child was a script based on an idea brought to light by John Thorne, J.K. Rowling, and John Tiffany, the Cursed Childs director.

Rowling On Finishing The Book

Deathly HallowsBalmoral Hotel

Rowling completed the book while staying at the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh in January 2007, and left a signed statement on a marble bust of Hermes in her room which read: “J. K. Rowling finished writing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in this room on 11 January 2007”. In a statement on her website, she said, “I’ve never felt such a mixture of extreme emotions in my life, never dreamed I could feel simultaneously heartbroken and euphoric.” She compared her mixed feelings to those expressed by Charles Dickens in the preface of the 1850 edition of David Copperfield, “a two-years’ imaginative task”. “To which,” she added, “I can only sigh, try seventeen years, Charles”. She ended her message by saying “Deathly Hallows is my favourite, and that is the most wonderful way to finish the series”.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows

Or as its known colloquially, Harry Potter and the Worst Camping Trip Ever. After the events of the previous book culminating in another major characters heartbreaking death Harry vows to personally destroy every one of Voldemorts Horcruxes. These Horcruxes are objects containing pieces of Voldemorts soul, rendering him effectively immortal. Which means that if Harry wants even a chance at killing Voldemort face-to-face, hell need to locate and eliminate the Horcruxes first. Its this daunting prospect that leads to the Worst Camping Trip Ever though of course, its brightened somewhat by the presence of the ever-faithful Ron and Hermione.

To be fair, the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows arent as quotidianly miserable as the events of OotP at least we know the characters are suffering for a greater purpose. But that doesnt stop this from being, as you might expect, the darkest book in the series. From the corrupting influence of a locket that causes Ron to abandon his friends, to the tragic prophecy that Harry uncovers through more of Snapes past memories, this book truly tests the readers tolerance for beloved characters in distress.

In the week before its release, a number of texts purporting to be genuine leaks appeared in various forms. On 16 July, a set of photographs representing all 759 pages of the US edition was leaked and was fully transcribed prior to the official release date. The photographs later appeared on websites and peer-to-peer networks, leading Scholastic to seek a subpoena in order to identify one source. This represented the most serious security breach in the Harry Potter series’ history. Rowling and her lawyer confirmed that there were genuine online leaks. Reviews published in both The Baltimore Sun and The New York Times on 18 July 2007, corroborated many of the plot elements from this leak, and about one day prior to release, The New York Times confirmed that the main circulating leak was real.

Price Wars And Other Controversies

Asda, along with several other UK supermarkets, having already taken pre-orders for the book at a heavily discounted price, sparked a price war two days before the book’s launch by announcing they would sell it for just £5 a copy. Other retail chains then also offered the book at discounted prices. At these prices the book became a loss leader. This caused uproar from traditional UK booksellers who argued they had no hope of competing in those conditions. Independent shops protested loudest, but even Waterstone’s, the UK’s largest dedicated chain bookstore, could not compete with the supermarket price. Some small bookstores hit back by buying their stock from the supermarkets rather than their wholesalers. Asda attempted to counter this by imposing a limit of two copies per customer to prevent bulk purchases. Philip Wicks, a spokesman for the UK Booksellers Association, said, “It is a war we can’t even participate in. We think it’s a crying shame that the supermarkets have decided to treat it as a loss-leader, like a can of baked beans.” Michael Norris, an analyst at Simba Information, said: “You are not only lowering the price of the book. At this point, you are lowering the value of reading.”

The Fantastic Beasts Screenplays

Unless youve been living under a rock this entire time, youve probably heard of the two new Wizarding World movies that have hit Hollywood in the past few years. Led by actor Eddie Redmayne and an all-star ensemble cast, the Fantastic Beasts films tell the story of Newt Scamander, Albus Dumbledore, and the dark battle against Gellert Grindelward in the blackened days before Lord Voldemort entered the scene.

Of course, you can choose to simply watch the continuation of the Wizarding World on-screen but reading the screenplays of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: the Original Screenplay and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald The Original Screenplay will undoubtedly give you that extra level of depth and insight into the characters.

Harry Potter Book Chapter Pages

Described by many fans as the end of an era, the final film in the Harry Potter franchise – The Deathly Hallows Part 2 – premièred in London yesterday.

After days of waiting, thousands of fans finally got the opportunity to see the stars of the film, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe walk the red carpet together for one last time.

Author of the seven part series, JK Rowling, was also in attendance at the event which took over Trafalgar Square and screened at Leicester Square. The final film is due to be released next Friday, 15th July.

But how do the books and films compare? Any fan will tell you the books get larger and the films get longer but how do they compare in the sales charts and box offices of the UK?

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, released in 2001, still holds the record – out of all the Harry Potter films – for the highest grossing film at the UK box office at £66.1m. All eyes are on the final instalment to see if it will beat all previous films.

Uses In Education And Business

Writers on education and business subjects have used the book as an object lesson. Writing about clinical teaching in medical schools, Jennifer Conn contrasted Snapes technical expertise with his intimidating behaviour towards students. Quidditch coach Madam Hooch on the other hand, illustrated useful techniques in the teaching of physical skills, including breaking down complex actions into sequences of simple ones and helping students to avoid common errors. Joyce Fields wrote that the books illustrate four of the five main topics in a typical first-year sociology class: sociological concepts including culture, society, and socialisation stratification and social inequality social institutions and social theory.

Stephen Brown noted that the early Harry Potter books, especially Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, were a runaway success despite inadequate and poorly organised marketing. Brown advised marketing executives to be less preoccupied with rigorous statistical analyses and the analysis, planning, implementation, and control model of management. Instead he recommended that they should treat the stories as a marketing masterclass, full of enticing products and brand names. For example, a real-world analogue of Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans was introduced under licence in 2000 by toymaker Hasbro.
