It could be used to stop Voldemort from ever existing or it could be used to bring back beloved characters. However, in Prisoner of Azkaban, it is used by Hermione to ensure that she can go to all her classes and to save Buckbeak.

Having not learnt the amount of plot holes attached to such a device, Rowling revealed the existence of a secret Time Turner belonging to the Malfoys. Without revealing too many details of The Cursed Child, Malfoy uses it successfully, which makes him alongside Hermione, Harry, Albus, and Scorpius one of the few known people to have used a Time Turner.

Who Is Lord Voldemort

Harry Potter Theory: What was Tom Riddles Patronus?

Lord Voldemort, born Thomas Marvolo Riddle, is the main antagonist of the Harry Potter book series. An orphan, Riddle was a dangerously bright Slytherin student during his years in Hogwarts at the time, Albus Dumbledore taught Transfiguration and Armando Dippet was Headmaster. After finishing school, Riddle applied for the job of Defence Against the Dark Arts professor, but was ultimately rejected by Dippet as being too young and told to come back after gaining some experience.

Not happy with the answer, Riddle left, supposedly cursing the position so that no one would teach the subject for more than a year this was a recurring motive in the book series, as Hogwarts never had a DADA teacher that lasted for more than a year , well, not until Voldemort was finally defeated at least.

Ralph Fiennes as Lord Voldemort in the fifth movie

Young Riddle turned to the Dark Arts and soon became Lord Voldemort. He developed a plan to take over the Wizarding World and get rid of all Muggles and rule over both worlds the Wizarding and the Muggle worlds but also those who do not support his goals, called traitors. He formed a group of ruthless followers known as the Death Eaters who followed him blindly. During the First Wizarding War, Voldemort found out about the prophecy of a young boy destined to kill him.

Voldemort ultimately met his end during the Battle of Hogwarts in 1998, when he was killed by Harry Potter.

It was revealed that during the fourth year of Scorpiuss time in Hogwarts that Draco became widowed, as his wife Astoria Malfoy passed away due to a inherited blood curse, which could shorten her lifespan and disallow her from growing into old age.

After he was married, Draco initially contemplated letting the Malfoy bloodline to end with him to allow Astoria live longer , as he was aware of Astorias family blood curse and that childbirth would weaken her further. Astoria, however, persuaded him from doing so as she wanted a child not for the pure-blood beliefs, but for him so that he will not be alone should she died some day, which culiminated into the birth of Dracos first and only child Scorpius. Draco had once considered the birth of his son as the greatest day of his life, even though Scorpiuss birth had led to Astorias health to be further weakened and eventually caused her to die fourteen years later.

During the events of the play, Draco slowly made amends with Harry and his friends as they all embarked on a journey to save their sons from Voldemorts daughter Delphini, demonstrating his slow, but gradual acknowledgement of Harry as a friend and his outright denouncement of his Death Eater past.

The Deep Origins Of The Patronus In Harry Potter

The stag is at war with the serpent: it traces out the serpents hole, and draws it forth by the breath of its nostrils, and hence it is that the smell of burnt stags horn has the remarkable power of driving away serpents Pliny the Elder, Natural History, Book VIII

The incantation for the Patronus charm is expecto patronum which, roughly translated from Latin would mean I am awaiting my benefactor. The charm is introduced as a way to fend off Dementors, the terrible eyeless creatures who thirst for fear and despair, who extinguish all hope and ultimately want to feast on human souls. Harry is particularly susceptible to the suffocating cloud of despair brought on by Dementors because of the deeply-lodged unconscious memory of the night his parents were murdered before his infant eyes. When Dementors draw near, Harry hears his mother pleading with the serpentine Voldemort and screaming her last screams before she sacrifices her own life to save Harry.

Expecto patronum!

No one can argue the cultural impact that JK Rowlings Harry Potter series has had all over the English-speaking world. Her books are on par with Star Wars when it comes to cultural influence, inspiring film versions, merchandising, a stage play, and even a pair of theme parks. Its no wonder Im a fan of both, lol. So I thought it would be nice to discuss my seven favorite moments in the book series. Some of them are emotional, some of them are just really cool. I explain my reasons why. Feel free to converse in the comments section. Here goes nothing!

#7 The Two Ministers Meet : Up until this point in the series, the reader hasnt really been shown how our world and the wizarding world work together. We are transported to a fantastical place with magical creatures, fun foods and drinks, and quirky characters. However, the world Rowling created exists side-by-side with our own world. So when the Minister of Magic actually calls upon the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom to relay information about the Dark Lords return, the result is an eye-opening and humorous scene in which the reader can imagine how most muggles might react to such wonderful and horrific news. Additionally, the meeting of the ministers is one of the only instances in the entire series to jump out of the fantasy and put the reader into a very realistic situation.

James Potter’s Stag Patronus May Have Been Different When He Was Younger

Harry’s father’s Patronus was the same as his Animagus a form he adopted at Hogwarts, which earned him the nickname “Prongs.”

However, Rowling has said that Lily’s Patronus being a doe and James’ Patronus being a stag is not a coincidence.

“The Patronus often mutates to take the image of the love of one’s life ,” she wrote of the couple in 2007.

It’s more likely that James’ Patronus morphed to match Lily’s when they fell in love, rather than the other way around since Snape had known Lily since childhood and his Patronus matched hers, it seems reasonable to assume that Lily’s Patronus had been a doe all along.

What Was Jk Rowlings Inspiration For The Patronus

While there is no concrete answer, theres plenty of speculation. J.K Rowling alluded in an interview that the inspiration for the Patronus came from the idea of spirit animals and totems in indigenous religions. Totem comes from the Native American Ojibwe language and refers to the belief that an animal represents the spirit of a clan. Many cultures around the world have similar beliefs, and some historians theorize that spirit animals may be the origin of religion. The practice was adopted into Western popular culture through spirit animals, and its likely Rowling adapted this when developing her Patronus spell.

What Was Snape’s ORIGINAL Patronus? – Harry Potter Theory

Harry Potter features some powerful patronuses but which one can be considered the strongest of them all?

In Harry Potter, the Patronus is a powerful spell. But it isnt an easy spell to cast, in fact, some of the most advanced wizards out there would struggle with the spell. The spell itself requires the caster to visualize their happiest memory and hold on very tightly to it. This sounds simple, but in practice has been proven to be quite difficult. The whole point of a Patronus, of course, is to ward off Dementors. Dementors suck all the life and happiness out of a person, so the longer it takes to cast a Patronus, the harder it will become. Though there is an interesting secondary use for a Patronus a messenger.

A Patronus is unique to the caster and is very personal. Some witches and wizards will never have a corporeal Patronus while others will have theirs appear as an animal. Incidentally, a Patronus will take on the same form as the casters Animagus. The form a Patronus takes doesnt automatically equal to power . But these forms are iconic and worth talking about.

The wizarding world continues to amaze audiences around the world. With HBO Max featuring the many Harry Potter films, we’re revisiting one of the most famous magical creations of any wizard or which: the Patronus.
