What Is The Second Harry Potter Book

Don't Miss

Book : Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets

J.K. Rowling and the second Harry Potter book

Secrets is probably the least important book in the series over all. Its still a good book, but it suffers from a somewhat bland plot, as well as a large section of the book without Hermione. And we all know things just arent the same when Hermione isnt around.

Also, apparently Secrets went through a relatively complex editing process, and Rowling herself struggled to write it, especially after the success of the first book. However, despite the lackluster bits, some moments do stand out. In fact, an essential aspect of the plot is introduced in this book, though we didnt know it yet. Horcruxes dont come into the picture in name until the sixth book, but in Secrets we experience one for the first time.

Book : Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix

Something of a controversial choice for this high on the list I would argue, however, that the Order of the Phoenix deserves the bronze medal for best Harry Potter book. It is by far the darkest book, with Harry dealing with some very not child-book aimed demons.

Although it is the longest book in terms of pages, its isnt brimming with action, instead focusing more of its time on developing the characters into grown, individually minded young people.

It also has one of the most epic moments out of all the books that being the duel between Voldemort and Dumbledore. Its really the only time we ever see a high level, top tier Wizard duel in the entire series, so thats pretty cool. We couldve probably done without Harrys highly awkward relationship with Cho, but who hasnt had a cringeworthy relationship or two?

Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire ~ 65 Million Copies

The Harry Potter books were never known for being short, but Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was the first of the massive books fans began to expect for the second half of the fantasy series. At over 600 pages it’s possible its length alone might have put some more casual readers and fans off . Still, it’s popularity amongst those who did read the book remains high. This is the book where the series end game finally starts making a real appearance on the page. Despite that excitement and the emotional cliffhanger ending, Goblet of Fire could only pull off the same numbers as its predecessor, around 65 million copies.

Harry Potter And The Sorcerers Stone

In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the book that started it all , Harry Potter discovers his true identity in the wee hours of his eleventh birthday: he is a wizard, famous in the magical world for having vanquished the evil Lord Voldemort when he was only a baby. This revelation, delivered by a gruff, hairy giant named Hagrid, sets Harry on a fantastical journey of a lifetime.

He meets bosom buddies Ron and Hermione aboard the Hogwarts Express, and is soon sorted with them into Gryffindor: the house of the intrepid and brave. However, Harry also makes plenty of enemies at Hogwarts, most notably the arrogant Draco Malfoy and the nasty potions master, Snape . And from battling a troll on Halloween to his first exhilarating Quidditch match not to mention the novels climax, in which Harry goes up against Voldemort for the second time in his young life theres never a dull moment in the first year of his new adventure.

Sorcerers Stone also perfectly balances exciting action with touching emotion, as Harry finds a true family in Ron and Hermione after years of misery with the Dursleys. Indeed, the books small, moving moments such as Harry being floored by a gift from Rons mother, or Hermiones tearful declaration at the end about books and cleverness are just as magical as the spells themselves.

Harry Potter And The Cursed Child

What is second harry potter book J.K. Rowling ...

While not part of the original seven-book series, Cursed Child and the accompanying stage play have become a generally accepted addition to the Harry Potter canon. This 336-page text picks up where the Deathly Hallows epilogue left off, with Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Malfoy sending their unfortunately named kids off to Hogwarts Harrys son Albus and Malfoys son Scorpius serve as our protagonists this time around. Upon arrival at Hogwarts, the boys are both sorted into Slytherin and forge an unlikely friendship, which naturally causes tension between Albus and Harry over the next few years.

After a fight with his father, Albus overhears Cedric Diggorys father Amos asking Harry to use a more powerful version of a Time Turner to go back in time and rescue his son. When Harry refuses, Albus enlists Scorpius to help him save Cedric, with the aid of Diggorys niece Delphi. However, as anyone whos seen Back to the Future can attest, messing with timelines is never a good idea especially in the wizarding world. Things are further complicated by the fact that Delphi is not who she says she is, and may have sinister ulterior motives when it comes to rewriting history.

Chapter : The Deathday Party

Why would anyone want to celebrate the day they died? Sounds dead depressing to me…
Ron, about the Deathday Party

Petrified Mrs Norris

In return for distracting Argus Filch just when he is about to give Harry severe punishment, Harry promises he will come to Nearly Headless Nick‘s Deathday Party on Hallowe’en. He brings Ron and Hermione along as well. While there, they meet Moaning Myrtle. The three of them quickly get sickened by the ghostly party and return to the Great Hall.

Before they get to the Hallowe’en feast, Harry hears the voice and follows it to the second floor, where he finds the bathroom flooded and Mrs Norris, Filch’s cat, hanging from a torch bracket, petrified and coupled with a message on the wall, reading “THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS HAS BEEN OPENED. ENEMIES OF THE HEIR, BEWARE”. Then, students leaving the Hallowe’en Feast surround them. And Malfoy yells: “Enemies of the Heir, beware! You’ll be next, Mudbloods!”

Hermione And Moaning Myrtle’s Bathroom

2nd Book Review- Harry Potter Series

Early on in the second book, Hermione Granger opens up about Moaning Mrytle. She reveals that the ghost haunts a bathroom on the first floor of the castle. But this is then changed later on, with Hermione, Harry and Ron all brewing Polyjuice potion on the second floor of Hogwarts instead.

Harry is on the second floor when he stumbles across Mrs. Norris, who has been petrified, much to the anguish of Argus Filch. And it appears as though Rowling simply forgot she’d already claimed Myrtle hung out on a different level of the castle instead. Mrytle is miserable, but grows fond of the Boy Who Lived, and even invites him to share a cubicle with her should he die attempting to rescue Ginny Weasley from the Basilisk towards the end of the source material and movie.

Completion Of The Series

In December 2005, Rowling stated on her web site, “2006 will be the year when I write the final book in the Harry Potter series.” Updates then followed in her online diary chronicling the progress of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, with the release date of 21 July 2007. The book itself was finished on 11 January 2007 in the Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh, where she scrawled a message on the back of a bust of Hermes. It read: “J. K. Rowling finished writing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in this room on 11 January 2007.”

Rowling herself has stated that the last chapter of the final book was completed “in something like 1990”. In June 2006, Rowling, on an appearance on the British talk show Richard & Judy, announced that the chapter had been modified as one character “got a reprieve” and two others who previously survived the story had in fact been killed. On 28 March 2007, the cover art for the Bloomsbury Adult and Child versions and the Scholastic version were released.

In September 2012, Rowling mentioned in an interview that she might go back to make a “director’s cut” of two of the existing Harry Potter books.

Harry Potter And The Half

Things take a turn for the expository in this penultimate installment, which sees Harry learn all about Voldemorts family and origin story, so to speak. Dumbledore gives Harry these lessons to prepare him for a grand future battle with Voldemort, presumably in the vein of keeping his enemies closer. What Harry doesnt know is that Dumbledore is planning something even bigger a plan that he, Harry, becomes more inexorably entangled in with each passing day.

At the same time, Harry suspects Malfoy to be colluding with Voldemort, and begins obsessively tracking him on the Marauders Map. But each new lead just seems to be a wrong turn, and Harry grows increasingly frustrated with the lack of evidence when he knows that Malfoy is guilty. His only good luck, funnily enough, is in potions class. After receiving a secondhand textbook filled with tips and tricks from the mysterious Half-Blood Prince, Harry shines under the tutelage of their new potions professor Slughorn. Hermione, meanwhile, is jealous of Harrys newfound academic success, and attempts to uncover the Princes identity to prove hes crooked.

Albus Dumbledore holding the Sword of Gryffindor

At McGonagall’s office, Harry, Ron, and Ginny find Dumbledore, McGonagall, Arthur and Molly Weasley, who are delighted to see them alive. Harry worries that Ginny will get blamed for being the person behind the attacks, but to his great relief Dumbledore rightly deduces that Voldemort is the culprit and only used Ginny’s body. After Ginny leaves to get a much-needed rest, Harry and Ron both receive two hundred house points each for Gryffindor and both get an Award for special services to the school, and then Dumbledore asks to speak with Harry alone. Harry expresses his concern that he belonged in Slytherin. Dumbledore reveals that Voldemort transferred some of his powers to Harry when he gave him his scar, explaining his ability to speak Parseltongue. He asks Harry why he thinks the Sorting Hat put him in Gryffindor if he has so many Slytherin qualities, and Harry admits that the only reason it did was because he had asked it to. Dumbledore confirms this and tells Harry that “it is our choices, rather than our abilities, that reveal who we truly are”. He points out to the sword Harry had drawn out of the hat – Harry now notices it has Godric Gryffindor‘s name on it. Dumbledore says that only a true Gryffindor would be able to draw it out.

Harry Potter: 10 Mistakes Jk Rowling Made In The Chamber Of Secrets Book

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is a brilliant book, but where did author JK Rowling clearly make errors or mistakes?

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is the second book in the Harry Potter series, releasing in 1998 – a year after The Sorcerer’s Stone initially hit shelves in the United Kingdom. It sees the Boy Who Lived return to Hogwarts, despite attempts from Dobby the House Elf to prevent him from doing so. Once at the castle, muggle-borns start being attacked by a mysterious force and, as ever, it’s down to the Gryffindor student to save the day with a little bit of help from close friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.

The book is a classic, just like other entries in the series. However, JK Rowling’s work still contains a few mistakes that are worth pointing out.
