Reason To Dislike The Name James Sirius Potter

KILLER QUESTIONS! Harry Potter, YouTube, Weird Middle Names QnA!

I dislike the fact that Sirius Blacks and James Potters names have to be smashed together into one name so we get a kid named James Sirius Potter.

How could Harry even think about doing this? Why didnt he separate the names instead so that one son gets the name Sirius as a first name while the other son gets James as a first name? It would have been so much better that way.

The explanation for that is this: In the first place, Harry didnt even know James Potter. James died before Harry could get the chance to get to know him.

The same goes with Lily Evans. But the one that Harry knew and was actually close to was his godfather, Sirius. Recall that he was even really upset and sad when Sirius died.

Rowling Liked Bartemius Crouch So Much That She Used It Twice

Crouch Senior and Junior are two significant characters in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.” “Bartimeaus” is New Testament figure, a blind man healed by Jesus. The name could be ironic, since Barty Crouch Sr. didn’t realize his son was impersonating Mad-Eye Moody. “Crouch” is a common last name derived from “cross.”

What Are The Names Of Harry Potters Kids

After the Battle of Hogwarts in 1998, Harry and Ginny rekindled their relationship, got married, and had three children: James Sirius, Albus Severus, and Lily Luna. They are all named after people whom Harry and Ginny have a close relationship with and go on to influence their lives. They most likely chose these names to honor those people.

Are Luna And Draco Related

They may be related, but that would have to be very distantly. Lunas father is Xenophilius Lovegood, and her mother died in front of her when she was nine. Dracos father is Lucius Malfoy, and his mother is Narcissa Malfoy, née Black. So even if theyre related, they most definitely are not siblings.

Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone

Harry first appears in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Starting in 1981, when Harry was just one year old, his parents, James and Lily, were murdered by the most powerful Dark Wizard, Lord Voldemort . He attempted to kill Harry too, but was unsuccessful and only left a lightning bolt shaped scar on Harry’s forehead. Voldemort’s body was destroyed, but his soul was not. Harry later learns that the reason why he survived was that his mother sacrificed herself for him, and her love was something that Voldemort could not destroy.

According to Rowling, fleshing out this back story was a matter of reverse planning: “The basic idea Harry … didn’t know he was a wizard … and so then I kind of worked backwards from that position to find out how that could be, that he wouldn’t know what he was… That’s… When he was one year old, the most evil wizard for hundreds and hundreds of years attempted to kill him. He killed Harry’s parents, and then he tried to kill Harryhe tried to curse him…. Harry has to find out, before we find out. And for some mysterious reason, the curse didn’t work on Harry. So he’s left with this lightning-bolt shaped scar on his forehead, and the curse rebounded upon the evil wizard who has been in hiding ever since”.

Nymphadora Tonks’s Unusual Name Doesn’t Hint At Her Shape

You’d think that if Rowling went through such lengths to come up with “Nymphadora,” then she’d make it a reference to Tonks being a Metamorphmagus, or someone who can naturally magically change their appearance. “Nymphadora” seems to reference nymphs, who were instead divine, beautiful figures in Greek mythology that inhabited streams and forests.

To “tonk” is a slang term for striking something. Tonks is one of the testiest members of The Order of the Phoenix, always fighting Death Eaters.

Argus Filch The Caretaker Of Hogwarts Is Always Keeping A Lookout For Those Pesky Kids

Harry Potter Names

In Greek mythology, Argus was a giant hundred-eyed watchman. Like Filch in the “Harry Potter” novels, he seemed to be able to see anything, even the conversations held in obscure corridors in the castle. “Filch” is British slang for casual stealing, which has less obvious connections to Filch’s character.

Rowling Has Made No Secret Of How Much She Disliked Cornelius Fudge

“Cornelius” is a common name and comes from the New Testament. But with the Minister for Magic’s middle and last names, “Oswald” and “Fudge,” Rowling reveals what Fudge’s politics were all along.

“Oswald” is likely a reference to Oswald Mosley, the leading British fascist politician in the lead-up to World War II, who supported Adolf Hitler. Fudge is also a lot like Neville Chamberlain, the British Prime Minister who tried to avoid war with Hitler. Taken together, the name reflects Rowling’s distaste for the British politicians who allowed Hitler to get away with his crimes, like as Fudge denied the return of Voldemort at the end of “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.”

“Fudge,” as a verb, means to “present or deal with in a vague, noncommittal, or inadequate way, especially so as to conceal the truth or mislead,” according to the Oxford Dictionaries, which also sounds a lot like how Fudge ran the ministry.

Rowling Found Gilderoy Lockharts Name On A Random War Memorial

    80 Harry Potter

I was looking for quite a glamorous, dashing sort of surname, and Lockhart caught my eye on this war memorial, and that was it,Rowling told the BBC.

She said she found Gilderoy while looking through the Dictionary of Phrase and Fable. She found the name Gilderoy as belong to a highway man, and a very good-looking rogue.

Gilderoy Lockhart, it just sounded perfect, Rowling said. Impressive, and yet, in the middle, quite hollow, of course.

Gregory Goyle Isn’t Much More Than Draco’s Bodyguard

“Gregory” is derived from a Greek word meaning “watchful” or “alert,” and could refer to how he’s a sort of bodyguard for Draco Malfoy. His last name sounds like “Gargoyle,” the types of statues that look over Gothic-style buildings, which also refers to how he looks over Malfoy and also gives him a foreboding vibe.

Lily Luna Potter = The Only Name Harry And Ginny Got Right

Reason To Dislike The Name Albus Severus Potter

Speaking of the other son of Harry, I also dont get that kids name and why Harry decided it was a good idea to name one of his sons Albus Severus. This appears to be even more horrifying and disappointing than the first name.

Why? Lets start with Severus Snape first: no matter what this guys reasons may be, he still pretty much abused and tortured Harry for most of his school life. Everyone pretty much knows just how much Harry hated this guy.

Snape was horrible to Harry from the first moment that Harry came to Hogwarts and there was no chance for Harry to even get to know him much less know why he was acting like that towards him, not at first anyway. Harry hated this guy practically his whole life and yet now he suddenly decides to name his son after Snape? Seriously, why?

Really, he could have named the kid after Remus Lupin and I wouldnt be all that surprised or objectionable about it though Im not exactly fond of Lupin in the least.

HARRY POTTER NAME MEANINGS – WAS IT ALL PLANNED!?

Harry Potter is The Boy Who Lived, singled out by Lord Voldemort at birth to be his greatest rival. He became a hero to other people because he lived his life always seeking to find truth.

Harry James Potter is an English half-blood wizard, one of the most famous wizards of modern times. He was the only child and son of James and Lily Potter , members of the original Order of the Phoenix. Harry’s birth was overshadowed by a prophecy, naming either himself or Neville Longbottom as the one with the power to vanquish Lord Voldemort.

Harry was chosen as Voldemort’s target. The Potter family goes into hiding. Voldemort shall make attempts to circumvent the prophecy as Harry goes from being a baby to young adulthood. Harry will defeat Voldemort. The end of the 1st Wizarding War is the beginning of the end and Harry becomes known as the “Boy Who Lived”. Later Harry’s rare nature is noted by Headmaster Albus Dumbledore. He says:

“You are protected, in short, by your ability to love! The only protection that can possibly work against the lure of power like Voldemort’s! In spite of all the temptation you have endured, all the suffering, you remain pure of heart, just as pure as you were at the age of eleven, when you stared into a mirror that reflected your heart’s desire, and it showed you only the way to thwart Lord Voldemort, and not immortality or riches. Harry, have you any idea how few wizards could have seen what you saw in that mirror?”

    Harry Potter And The Half

In the sixth book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Harry enters a tumultuous puberty that, Rowling says, is based on her and her younger sister’s own difficult teenage years. Rowling also made an intimate statement about Harry’s personal life: “Because of the demands of the adventure that Harry is following, he has had less sexual experience than boys of his age might have had.” This inexperience with romance was a factor in Harry’s failed relationship with Cho. Now his thoughts concern Ginny, and a vital plot point in the last chapter includes Harry ending their budding romance to protect her from Voldemort.

This book also focuses on the mysterious activities of Harry’s rival Draco Malfoy. Voldemort has coerced a frightened Malfoy into attempting to kill Dumbledore. During a duel in Moaning Myrtle‘s bathroom, Harry uses the Half-Blood Prince’s spell, Sectumsempra, on Malfoy, who suffers near-fatal injuries as a result. Harry is horrified by what he has done and also comes to feel sympathy for Draco, after learning he was forced to do Voldemort’s bidding under the threat of his and his parents’ deaths.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows

In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Harry, Ron, and Hermione leave Hogwarts to complete Dumbledore’s task: to search for and destroy Voldemort’s remaining four Horcruxes, then find and kill the Dark Lord. The three pit themselves against Voldemort’s newly formed totalitarianpolice state, an action that tests Harry’s courage and moral character. Voldemort’s seizure of the Ministry of Magic leads to discriminatory and genocidal policies against Muggle-borns, fuelled by propaganda and fear. According to J. K. Rowling, telling scenes are when Harry uses Cruciatus Curse and Imperius Curse, unforgivable curses for torture and mind-control, on Voldemort’s servants, and also when he casts Sectumsempra on Draco Malfoy during the bathroom fight in the sixth book. Each time shows a “flawed and mortal” side to Harry. However, she explains, “He is also in an extreme situation and attempting to defend somebody very good against a violent and murderous opponent.”

Harry experiences occasional disturbing visions of Draco being forced to perform the Death Eaters’ bidding and feels “…sickened…by the use to which Draco was now being put by Voldemort,” again showing his compassion for an enemy.

    Physical Description And Traits Section

A little while ago, I added a reference to Hermione being considered pretty at the Yule Ball in 1994. This was removed, and I agree with the editors comment that it was poorly worded. However, I do think something along those lines would be relevant under that section. It is called Physical Description and Traits, after all, and similar remarks can be found in the articles for Ginny Weasley and Luna Lovegood, for instance. Furthermore, later books seem to indicate that Hermione would be considered pretty as well in DH, this is shown at least three times from three very different viewpoints. Ron says she looks great at Bill and Fleurs wedding Muggle men at Tottenham Court Road wolf-whistle at her and one offers to buy her a drink Fenrir Greyback refers to her as your pretty little friend. Thus, I think its an established physical trait.72.39.64.248 04:31, 11 February 2008

I agree. Usually, two such sections would be called for one Physical description which would describe her appearance and they way others percieve her. The second section, Personality and traits would deal with her personality and other aspects of her character. Cavalier One 08:54, 11 February 2008
Ive taken a stab at writing it as two separate sections, but it might need a little refining. 24.141.82.173 05:35, 16 February 2008

    Parents raise their 8

Ron is probably lucky his first name isnt Bilius. Being the sixth of six brothers it was always possible Arthur and Molly could have run out of more normal names by then. Rons middle name likely comes from an Uncle Bilius who was mentioned in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban as having died after seeing a grim.

Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban

In the third book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Rowling uses a time travel premise. Harry learns that his parents were betrayed to Voldemort by their friend Peter Pettigrew, who framed Harry’s godfather Sirius Black for the crimes, condemning him to Azkaban, the wizard prison. When Sirius escapes to find Harry, Harry and Hermione use a Time Turner to save him and a hippogriff named Buckbeak. When Pettigrew escapes, an innocent Sirius becomes a hunted fugitive once again. Harry learns how to create a Patronus, which takes the form of a stag, the same as his late father’s.
