Voldemort Was Pronounced Incorrectly Throughout The Films

What Are The Names of Future Funny Harry Potter Movies and Books ...

Fans of the “Harry Potter” audiobooks will know that narrator Jim Dale correctly pronounces Voldemort with a silent “t” for the first few books. In the movies, however, that “t” isn’t silent.

Dale eventually adapted his pronunciation in “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” the first new audiobook that came out after the “Sorcerer’s Stone” film, but Rowling has since confirmed that the silent “t” was right.

This makes sense since the word Voldemort has French origins, and ending consonants are often silent in that language.

Other names and spells like “Accio,” “LeStrange,” and “Gilderoy Lockhart” have some conflicting pronunciations between the audiobooks and film as well.

Harry Potter Movies In Order Of Chronological Events

Now, here’s where things get slightly tricky. The Fantastic Beasts films are prequels, so they take place decades before the events of the original Harry Potter movies.

Those take place during Harry’s time at Hogwarts, so each book/movie corresponds to a school year. The final two movies split the final book and school year.

Here’s the list of Harry Potter movies and the year in which they are set:

  • Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
  • Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald
  • Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone
  • Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
  • Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
  • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
  • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
  • Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
  • Fantastic Beasts 3 is likely to be set right after the second film in that series and before the events of Sorcerer’s Stone.

And if the Harry Potter stage play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, is made into a movie, it would fall at the end of both the release order and chronological order since it’s set circa 2017.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald Set In 1927

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald came two years later, set a year after the events of Fantastic Beasts, building on the Grindelwald twist of the first film.

The movie severely disappointed Potterheads with its muddled, convoluted nature, and weak plot. Even more frustrating, for the first time on such a scale, the movie contradicts the rules of the Wizarding World, infuriating fans to no end.

Harry Potter & Fantastic Beasts Movie Order

There are multiple ways to watch the Harry Potter movies. Here is the correct release and chronological Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts movie order.

As the Wizarding World franchise continues to grow, the complete Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts movie order remains a subject of intense debate. J.K. Rowling’s magical novels became one of Hollywood’s biggest franchises throughout the 2000s. Audiences watched eight movies centered around Daniel Radcliffe’s Harry Potter that showed his ascension through Hogwarts and pivotal role in defeating Voldemort. The eight Harry Potter films earned over $7 billion at the box office and made it clear that Warner Bros. would continue creating content in the Wizarding World franchise.

Harry Potter’s story is currently over, as plans for a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie haven’t come together. Instead of continuing the story after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, WB turned its attention toward prequels. The Fantastic Beasts franchise kicked off in 2016 with Eddie Redmayne’s magizoologist Newt Scamander taking the lead role. The prequel movies were originally rather disconnected from the main Harry Potter movies, but that changed dramatically with its sequels, as Grindelwald gained a bigger role, a young Albus Dumbledore appeared, and more connective tissue formed.

After the kids discover Fluffy the massive three-headed dog tasked with guarding the Sorcerer’s Stone Hagrid tells them that he bought the creature from a “Greek chappie.”

This makes sense because Fluffy is believed to be inspired by Cerberus, a three-headed dog who guarded the gates of the underworld.
