He Battled His Best Friend And Lover To Save The World
Remember how I mentioned he fought Grindelwald for the Elder Wand back in 1945? Well, the battle occurred at the height of Grindelwalds power when he was trying to actually go through with the whole ruling over muggles plan. Dumbledore realized that he was the only one powerful enough to stop Grindelwald, so he went into battle with his best friend and the man he loved to protect everyone. Dumbledore finally realized what he had to do for the greater good. It is tragic and beautiful at the same time.
He Loves Me He Loves Me Not
Given the revelation about his sexuality, it is widely believed that Dumbledore was in love with his closest friend, Gellert Grindelwald. There is no proof that Grindelwald ever reciprocated Albus feelings though, and it has been argued that Grindelwald could never have loved anyone, because all he cared about was power.
His Friendship With Grindelwald Was Complex
One of the most famous revelations about Dumbledore after the books were published was that he was actually in love with Gellert Grindelwald. J.K. Rowling said: Dumbledore fell in love with Grindelwald, and that added to his horror when Grindelwald showed himself to be what he was Do we say it excused Dumbledore a little more because falling in love can blind us to an extent? But he met someone as brilliant as he was, and rather like Bellatrix he was very drawn to this brilliant person, and horribly, terribly let down by him.

Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban
At the beginning of the third novel, Dumbledore is forced to accept Dementors onto his school’s grounds for the protection of his students from Sirius Black, a supposed murderer and accessory to murder, who had escaped from Azkaban. After Black’s breach into Hogwarts, Dumbledore issues orders to close every entrance to the school and grounds. After Harry falls off his broomstick during a Quidditch match because of the Dementors, Dumbledore becomes uncharacteristically angry with them and uses his wand to cause Harry to levitate safely to the ground. Later in that book, Dumbledore suggests that Hermione use her Ministry-approved Time-Turner to go back three hours to save Buckbeak the hippogriff and Black from their unjust executions.

Where Are They All Travelling To
We catch a glimpse of a train racing through a snowy scene. On board we spy Newt, Jacob, Lally, Kama, Theseus and even Bunty. Where are they all headed? And why have they all joined forces with one another? We know that they are the team that Dumbledore has assembled to stop Grindelwald, but we are curious why he would choose this ragtag group for such a task.

James and Lily Potter, his friends and former students
Dumbledore first met James Potter and Lily Evans during their first year at Hogwarts, where he was the Headmaster. Dumbledore had a good relationship with both of them, knowing them both to be pure souls. James had lent Dumbledore his Invisibility Cloak one of the three Deathly Hallows. After James’s death Dumbledore returned the cloak to James’s son, Harry.
When the Potters became Voldemort’s targets due to a prophecy made about their son and the Dark Lord, Dumbledore attempted to protect them by casting the Fidelius Charm and offering to be their Secret Keeper, but the role of Secret Keeper went instead to Peter Pettigrew, which turned out to be a fatal mistake, as Peter turned out to be a spy, and he betrayed Lily and James to Voldemort, who killed them. Dumbledore was very saddened by their deaths and dedicated the rest of his life to protecting their son, Harry, without giving him any happiness in his childhood. He often told Harry about the great goodness of his parents, and repeatedly consoled him with the assurance that his parents would never ever truly leave him because of their love for him. Dumbledore also believed that Harry’s love for his parents was his greatest power.

Dumbledore Used To Be The Transfiguration Professor
Now I personally cannot imagine anyone being the Transfiguration professor except McGonagall, but Dumbledore has also held the position. In the 1930s Dumbledore began his career teaching Transfiguration at Hogwarts. Considering his O.W.L. results and magical achievements, this seems a natural step for him to take. He remained in this post until 1966, when he was asked to become Headmaster. I imagine many students were intimidated by him, but how awesome would it be to have him as your teacher?
New Members Of The Team
As well as some familiar faces fighting Grindelwald, there are a couple of characters who are new members of that team too! The descendant of a very old wizarding family, is Leta Lestranges half-brother Yusuf Kama. The witch we see is also somebody we have briefly met before in The Crimes of Grindelwald, a professor at Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Eulalie Lally Hicks we expect that shes no slouch when it comes to magic.

His Is The Only Grave At Hogwarts
There aren’t too many schools with graveyards onsite, so it’s really no surprise that there weren’t any other graves before Dumbledore’s at Hogwarts. Perhaps there could have been a few headmasters buried there, but they probably wanted to be buried with their families. So why didn’t Dumbledore want to be buried near his family back in Godric’s Hollow? Some part of him must have felt like he didn’t deserve to be, especially since he was partially responsible for his sister’s death. He probably also felt, like Harry, that Hogwarts was his real home, the place where he felt the most comfortable and safe.
Since it was a first for a headmaster to be buried at Hogwarts, the Ministry of Magic had to approve it, which they did because of Dumbledore’s reputation in the wizarding community. In the books, his tomb is located next to the shores of the black lake where the giant squid lives. However, in the films, the filmmakers placed it on a small island in the middle of the lake. While it’s certainly a better dramatic choice, it doesn’t really make practical sense. The only time anyone is seen on the lake is at the beginning of term, when the students take little boats across it to get to the school. They’d have to steal a boat to go visit his tomb.
He Could Do Both Wandless And Silent Magic
Only the most powerful wizards can master wandless or silent magic. In true Dumbledore fashion, the man could do both–and remarkably well, as it so happens. One of the clearest instances of this was in relation to his phoenix, Fawkes. Dumbledore could most likely disapparate at will, even within Hogwarts, but he used Fawkes on occasion, like when the Ministry of Magic tried to escort him out of Hogwarts in Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix. During the feasts in The Great Hall, Dumbledore also used silent and wandless magic to change the banners, light candles, and bring the food up from the kitchens with a snap of his fingers. He could even see through Harry’ invisibility cloak using the spell Homenum Revelio, which he always cast silently.
There were a number of times where he used wandless magic to save Harry’s life too, such as in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, when Harry fell off his broom during a Quidditch match because of the dementors. When Harry dueled with Lord Voldemort in the Ministry of Magic, Dumbledore appeared and took his place, continuously throwing Harry aside to protect him using wandless magic.

Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets
In the second novel, a younger Dumbledore appears in a series of flashbacks, seen by Harry in a diary once owned by Tom Riddle, the most gifted student in Hogwarts’ history – and the future Lord Voldemort. Through the diary, Harry sees Riddles memory of Dumbledore questioning him about a series of attacks on Muggle-born students. In the present, Lucius Malfoy forces the school’s other 11 governors to suspend Dumbledore as Headmaster in the wake of attacks by a basilisk in the school when the Chamber of Secrets is opened. Dumbledore is reinstated when the governors discover that Ginny Weasley was taken into the Chamber of Secrets and Lucius is found to have coerced the other governors into suspending him.
He Believed In Prophecy
Before Harry was born, there was a prophecy made about the boy who would be able to bring down Lord Voldemort. Professor Trelawney gave Dumbledore the prophecy at the end of her job interview for a position at Hogwarts. That certainly got her the job!

His Boggart Was His Sister’s Corpse
The biggest tragedy of Dumbledore’s life was the aforementioned death of his sister. When he got into a three-way duel with his brother Aberforth and Grindelwald, Ariana got in the way and was struck by one of the boy’s curses. The poor girl was just doomed from the very beginning, of course. When she was a little girl, a group of muggle boys attacked her after seeing her do magic, leaving her emotionally and mentally scarred from the encounter.
Talk about guilt even Dumbledore’s boggart took the form of his poor dead sister. In that same Bloomsbury chat where J.K. Rowling revealed Dumbledore’s deepest desire, she also revealed his greatest fear. He was tortured by the thought that it was his curse that ultimately killed Ariana, and not Grindelwald’s. Although he never found out the truth, it likely wouldn’t have mattered all that much. Even if it had been Grindelwald, he probably would have still blamed himself, since they were all fighting because of him and his supposed friend.
A Bittersweet Jacob And Queenie Moment
Oh, Jacob and Queenie. We love these two but by the end of the last film, they couldnt have been further away from one another. Does this clip suggest a glimmer of hope for the pair? They appear to be standing in Jacobs bakery yet their expressions dont really suggest a joyful reunion. Or is this a flashback to a time before Queenie joined Grindelwalds cause? I do believe weve seen that pink ensemble before Though their relationship seems to have everything stacked against them, we cant help but root for these two.

Why Is Albus Dumbledore Important To Harry Potter
In this way, Dumbledore encourages Harry to do what is right and to put others above himself, even if it means breaking the rules. At the end of the book, Dumbledore helps Harry to understand more fully why he was able to survive Voldemorts curse ten years earlier, and why he was able to get to the Sorcerers Stone.

Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire
In the fourth novel, Dumbledore introduces the Triwizard Tournament. He also serves as a judge during the entire event. When Harry’s name comes out of the Goblet of Fire, Dumbledore is not enraged, but remains calm simply asking Harry whether he had himself, or had asked an older student to submit his name ” rel=”nofollow”> film version he does get angry to the point of manhandling Harry). When Harry answers no, he believes him. By the end of the book, Dumbledore’s fears are realized when Harry returns from his encounter with Voldemort clutching the dead body of Cedric Diggory and when Mad-Eye Moody takes Harry away from Dumbledore and to his office inside the castle. Dumbledore immediately becomes suspicious and heads straight towards Moody’s office with Minerva McGonagall and Severus Snape to save Harry and to interrogate Crouch. Afterwards, Dumbledore listens to Harry’s eyewitness account about Voldemort’s return. Harry though, only wakes up later to find Minister for Magic Cornelius Fudge in the hospital wing arguing with McGonagall and Dumbledore about the situation of Voldemort’s return and the consequences that would follow should Fudge remain in denial of this fact.
Harry Potter And The Half
In the sixth book, Dumbledore fetches Harry from Privet Drive and takes him to persuade Horace Slughorn to rejoin the Hogwarts staff. Harry notices that Dumbledore’s right hand is shrivelled and black. During the school year, Dumbledore teaches Harry of events in Voldemort’s past that he feels are of immense importance. Using the Pensieve, they visit the memories of others, which contain important information about Voldemort’s life and his genocidal rise to power. While using the pensieve, Harry sees a vision of Dumbledore’s first encounter with the young Tom Riddle Dumbledore had known from the beginning that the boy was dangerous, but believed that Hogwarts would change him.
It is learned that Voldemort created six Horcruxes to gain immortality and that they must all be destroyed before Harry goes after the final piece of Voldemort’s soul in the Dark Lord’s body. Harry also repeatedly warns Dumbledore in most of their lessons that school bully Draco Malfoy is working for Voldemort. Dumbledore refuses to take any action against Draco, and instead tells Harry that he already knows more about what is happening than Harry does.

Not Stronger: Bellatrix Lestrange
Bellatrix Lestrange was arguably one of the coolest and most stylish dark witches in the Harry Potter world. Helena Bonham Carters portrayal of her in the movies took her character to a whole new level. She was, however, for lack of a better word, Voldemorts lackey. Voldemort himself wasnt more powerful than Dumbledore, and his followers, including Bellatrix, definitely werent. Dont get me wrong, she was dangerous, and committed horrible crimes, but she wasnt as strong as Albus. After all, she was ultimately defeated by Molly Weasley.

Founded The Order Of The Phoenix To Fight Voldemort
Dumbledore, seeing that the Ministry of Magic was failing to successfully defeat Voldemort, founded the Order of the Phoenix in the 1970s. The Order had members such as Lily, James, the Pettigrews and Sirius, amongst many others. When Voldemort rose to power again in the 90s, the Order was revived to continue the fight against He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Harry, Ron, Hermione, and many familiar faces joined the Order during this time. There arent any quips to be made here – the Order is too cool for that.
