The Weasley Twins: This Is What They Look Like Now

At just 14, the teenagers auditioned for the roles of the twin brothers “Fred” and “George Weasley” and prevailed against the competition. James took over the roles of “Fred” and Oliver the role of “George”. But most of the time, we weren’t able to tell them apart anyway.

But in real life, they don’t have much in common with the “Weasley” brothers, who were always up for a prank. For ten years, the two had to dye their hair red – for the trademark of the “Weasley” family. Today, the two wear their natural hair color again

Harry Potter Twins James And Oliver Phelps: It Was Difficult Watching My Twin Die

16:52, 30 July 2021 BST| Last updated 16:52, 30 July 2021 BST

Walking through the Harry PotterPhotographic Exhibitionis like a trip down memory lane for James and Oliver Phelps. The twins, who starred in the eight-movie franchise as the prank-loving twins Fred and George Weasley , literally grew up on the sets of the Harry Potter films, and find themselves remembering things theyâd long forgotten since filming.

One of their most poignant moment on set was in the very last film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow Part 2, where George sees his twin Fred die at the hands of Death Eaters.

âIt wasnât the best day of filming,â Oliver tells Tyla about the experience. âIt was incredibly difficult. I thought it was going to be on a closed set, but it was actually in the Great Hall, and I was just crying in front of everyone.â

However, Oliver, now 35, had no shortage of stellar advice from none other than Julie Walters, who played Weasley matriarch Molly.

âShe actually told me a method to help me get into that mindset,â he explains. âShe told me to relate it to something thatâs happened in real life.

âI put myself in horrible situations and found myself reliving loved ones dying and really horrible stuff just so I could really feel it.

âThe make-up lady came up to me with a eucalyptus pen and blew it in my eyes so they were streaming everywhere, it was full on.â

âHer character was the complete opposite of how she actually is. She was brilliant.â

The final installment of the Harry Potter franchise came to a close in 2011. In recent years, however, not all of the stars from the franchise have gone on to have enjoy the mainstream success of Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson. The Weasley brothers, in particular, seem to have hit a bit of a rough patch.

Even Rupert Grint, who played the faithful sidekick to “The Boy Who Lived,” needed to jump through various acting hoops to land gigs that he’s been able to parlay into a quasi-career. In 2017, Grint landed a role on the British comedy series Sick Note alongside Lindsay Lohan and Nick Frost.

Meanwhile, Ron Weasley’s two older brothers, Fred and George, played by James and Oliver Phelps, respectively, haven’t really been able to ditch their red locks, pranking ways, or even each other for that matter. It’s been years since the twins said goodbye to the characters who skyrocketed them to fame, but here’s why James and Oliver Phelps’ careers haven’t been the same after Harry Potter.
