How Harry Potter Should Have Ended

Defeating Voldemort Didn’t Magically End All Notions Of Oppression And Wizard Supremacy

How Harry Potter Should Have Ended

At the end of the series, it seems like the entire Wizarding World has deluded itself into thinking that the war was won the minute Tom Riddle drew his last breath.

But for those of us paying attention, it’s abundantly clear that Voldemort was never more than a charismatic demagogue whose rise was a symptom of a much deeper, much older, and much more pernicious disease.

Salazar Slytherin tried to rid Hogwarts of “non-pure-blood” wizards in 990. When Harry arrived at Hogwarts 1,000 years later, wizard society was still enslaving house-elves, denying goblins access to wands, colonizing centaur land, and forcing werewolves out of their jobs.

Despite the strained relationships between wizards and magical creatures, the Fountain of Magical Brethren in the Ministry of Magic depicts a centaur, goblin, and house-elf gazing adoringly at a pair of wizards. When injustice becomes law, propaganda becomes duty.

Voldemort wasn’t even the first villain to use wizard supremacy to amass power. Grindelwald made an enduring blueprint for him, and Voldemort’s defeat merely created a legacy for the next dark wizard.

They Respect Each Other

The books and the movies are littered with small examples that show just how highly the two think of each other. Can you find at least even half of those, where Hermione expresses her deep admiration of Ron? We didn’t think so. It’s really quite obvious that Hermione has more respect for Harry, and Harry admires her just as much – more than either of them do with Ron. Again, Ron fans, we’re not hating, just being honest. Harry always radiated pride for Hermione’s brilliance and her achievements, and she always praised him for being him. Not to mention how attentive she was to his words and how much of them she memorized.

Harry Potter And Hermione Should Have Ended Up Together Confesses Jk Rowling

Hold onto your wands, Gryffindors: Harry Potter mastermind J.K. Rowling has rocked the wizarding world and crushed the dreams of countless Weasley worshippers, after confessing that she regrets putting Harry Potters famous wizarding friends, Ron and Hermione, together. In a not-yet-released interview with the quarterly fashion magazine Wonderland, Rowling told the issues guest editor, actress Emma Watson, that she wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfillment. Apparently it goes back to when she first started writing the series: For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron.

Die hard fans were already chanting the Cruciatus curse when Rowling continued: I know, Im sorry. I can hear the rage and fury it might cause some fans, but if Im absolutely honest, distance has given me perspective on that. It was a choice I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of credibility. Am I breaking peoples hearts by saying this? I hope not.

Vanity Fair.

Jk Rowling Has Said She Believes Harry And Hermione Should Have Ended Up Together

Although the ending she wrote featured Ron and Hermione getting hitched, even JK Rowling eventually confirmed the fan theory, saying that she may have made a mistake. “I wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfillment. That’s how it was conceived, really,” the author said during an interview with Wonderland in 2014, via CNN. “For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron.”

Rowling went on to say that Harry should have ended up with Hermione, and she apologized to fans of the series for the heartbreak that may cause them. “I know, I’m sorry,” she said. “I can hear the rage and fury it might cause some fans, but if I’m absolutely honest, distance has given me perspective on that. It was a choice I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of credibility. Am I breaking people’s hearts by saying this? I hope not.”

Ron Has Jealousy Issues

How The Harry Potter Series Should Have Ended

Don’t get us wrong, this list isn’t about hating our favorite redhead. We love Ron Weasley just as much as the next person and are convinced that the series would be horribly crippled without him. But since he is the one who ended up paired with Hermione, and we’re trying to advocate Harry’s candidacy for that spot, it’s only fair that we compare the two. And let’s be very honest here: Ron has had his jealousy outbursts on several occasions throughout the years. And who wants to be stuck with a crazy jealous person? That’s right: no one. So, why not just agree that Hermione wouldn’t have to worry about provoking her significant other, if that other were Harry Potter.

Harry & Hermione In Love

The protagonist doesn’t always have to get the girl, right? But even J.K. Rowling has admitted that Hermione would be a better match for Harry, so many fans have thought of an alternative world where the two have a deeper relationship and are together in the end.

High Guardian changed several variables in their fanfic. Besides creating a love story between the two main characters, they also allowed Sirius to live and make some Weasleys jealous and angry.

Ginny Weasley: Cho Chang

Ginny and Cho don’t share many scenes together where they aren’t part of a larger group, but these two women would easily find a lot to bond over – beginning with their relationship with Harry. Having both loved him and supported his cause, they can both be assured that they have similar values.

They may not be in the same Hogwarts house, but Ginny and Cho fought together in Dumbledore’s Army. In The Order Of The Phoenix, both girls get to show off their fighting skills and intelligence. Their matched intellect – as well as their relatively serious but still gentle demeanors – would make them a great couple.

An Ending Where Remus & Sirius Are Alive

RoxanneReluisant mentions that the original ending made her depressed, so she wrote an alternative conclusion to the story. In this fan fiction, Harry visits Sirius and Remus and talks about his future plans.

The Dark Lord is defeated and the wizards prepare to continue with his life. Harry is with Ginny and they plan to marry when she turns 17. Meanwhile, he prepares to be an Auror and she finishes her studies at Hogwarts. Ron and Hermione are together, but she has gone on vacation for a few days with her parents. It is also revealed that many of those who died during the battle or before survived.

Harry Potter: How The Series Should Have Ended According To Fan Fiction

How Harry Potter Should Have Ended

Harry Potter fans are generally happy about the endings J.K. Rowling chose for her characters, but some fan fiction pieces imagine different stories.

It’s impossible to please everyone and even the most loyal fans can be disappointed with the end of a book or movie series. Harry Potter does not escape this reality. Although many readers and viewers are happy with the ending made by J.K. Rowling, there are details that some would change.

Because Jk Rowling Said So

In a 2014 interview for the fashion magazine Wonderland, the author of the books, J.K. Rowling herself, explained how she regrets pairing Ron and Hermione.

“I wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfillment,” Rowling explains. “Thats how it was conceived, really. For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron.” She follows up with “It was a choice I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of credibility. Why The Harry Potter Film Epilogue Never Stood A Chance

When Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 was filmed, the production team struggled with its famed 19 Years Later epilogue.

After seven books, eight films, a theme park, and the creation of a veritable merchandising empire, you can hardly blame the Harry Potter production team for wanting to go out on a high note with the final installment of the beloved film franchise. But one final mountain loomed ominously before Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II could wrap: the dreaded epilogue.

This 19 years later segment closes the final Harry Potter book with Harry and company at Kings Cross, sending their own children to Hogwarts. In theory, it provides closure, a happy ending for Harry, and the satisfaction of continuity with another generation of witches and wizards off to school. In practice, it was an absolute beast to film. For one, no one knew the best approach to handle the hair or the makeup required to age the 20-something cast into believable 39-year-old parents of 11-year-olds.

They Would Have Made A Better Team

Just think about it. Harry Potter’s bravery, skill, determination – all of the things that make the boy with the scar on his forehead the star and most important personage in the books and movies. Pair that with Hermione’s unique, encyclopedic knowledge and brilliance. You have the absolute, master couple! They would be unbeatable together come Voldemort, come anyone who dare take these two on – they won’t stand a single chance. Hold on, though, they already are a team, you would say. But how much of a stronger bond they would have if they were more than just friends, huh.

Hermione And Ron Have Always Shared Chemistry

How Harry Potter Should Have Ended [Legendado em Português ...

Chemistry is important in a relationship and Ron and Hermione have it in abundance. There is a connection between these two from the second they meet on the Hogwarts Express in their first year at Hogwarts, even though they dont acknowledge it for quite a few years. Theyve got an undeniable bond that is missing from Harry and Hermiones friendship.

They Both Grew Up With Prejudice And Discrimination

Harry and Hermione have arguably had a much rougher time at Hogwarts from a social standpoint, both being discriminated and insulted because of who they were and where they came from. Harry had to battle with the constant pressure of high expectations and hate from Malfoy and resentment from Snape, while Hermione had it even worse, constantly being belittled with insults such as “mudblood.” For this, it was not difficult to imagine these two feeling more alone and distanced from the rest of the Hogwarts student population.

On the other hand, Ron, being from a pure wizard family, never got to experience any prejudice or discrimination except on a few occasions for being poor. Ron also had a large and loving family with three older brothers and a younger sister always close to him at Hogwarts.

Sirius Black: Remus Lupin

Of all the proposed Harry Potter spin-offs, a story about the Marauders is one that fans would most like to see. Sirius becomes close friends with James and Remus in his Hogwarts days – along with Peter Pettigrew, who later betrays them.

Sirius often speaks fondly of James and Remus, which has led some fans to theorize that there may be something romantic to the relationship. Of course, James ends up with Lily, and if they hadn’t married, Harry would never have been born. Lupin ends up with Tonks, but Sirius still seems to look back upon his Marauding days as the best of his life. This trio clearly had a lot of fun in their youth and already share a rapport, so Sirius could have easily ended up with either Remus or James.

Ron And Hermione Seem To Balance Each Other Out Perfectly

Hermiones strengths lie in Rons weaknesses and vice-versa. For example, while she is studious, he struggles with academia. Although this could be seen as a weakness of their relationship, it actually makes them balance each other out. They each provide what the other is missing and, in a way, complete each other.

What Ends Up Happening To Harry Potter

How Harry Potter Should Have Ended

We learned in the epilogue of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows that Harry went on to marry Ginny Weasley, and the couple eventually had two sons: James Sirius and Albus Severus, as well as a daughter, Lily Luna. Following Voldemorts defeat, Harry decided not to return to Hogwarts and never sat his N.E.W.T. exams.

They Should Have Been Together: Jk Rowling Isnt Sure That Ron And Hermione Make The Best Couple

In a 2014 interview, J.K. Rowling revealed that making Ron and Hermione a couple was a form of wish fulfillment. She went on to say, For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron. In other words, these two might not make the best couple after all.

Draco Malfoy: Dudley Dursley

Dudley and Draco are two of Harry’s worst enemies who aren’t Voldemort. Harry usually has the moral high ground over them, but both characters get something of an almost-redemption arc in their final moments onscreen.

For most of the series, both are entitled, superior, and somewhat cowardly boys who hide behind their fathers. They have a lot in common, and not just their bullying methods. When it comes down to it, it truly seems that both of these characters’ hearts are in the right place. Perhaps with a little more growth, and after seeing the war put things into perspective, they can sort out their priorities and morals. Having previously disliked and been jealous of Harry, they already have something to bond over.

Other Things Jk Rowling Got Wrong

First, a disclaimer: I love the Harry Potter books and films. I grew up with them. I will read them to my children.

That said, theyre not perfect. J.K. Rowling herself recently admitted that Hermione and Ron should not have ended up together at the end of the series. I wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfillment, she said. Thats how it was conceived, really. For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron.

Fans were obviously upset. But as long as were revising the books, here are a few more suggestions.

WARNING:If you have not read the Harry Potter books do not read on.

1. The amount of time they spent in the forest in book seven

The seventh book had a lot of problems, but none so great as that stupid forest. I, like everyone else who preordered the last Harry Potter book, read the whole thing in a day. And yet the time they spent in the forest doing little except being angsty teenagers felt interminably long. Cut out that third of the book, and you have yourself a tight finale.

2. Ginny

Yes, it was a crime that Harry and Hermione didnt end up together. But the bigger problem was that Harry ended up with Ginny, who, sadly, had little personality. Seriously, name a personality trait for Ginny Weasley besides nice and brave. You cant.

3. Killing off Hedwig

5. Harry not being able to see the thestrals

They Are Both Incredibly Compassionate

This Is HOW HARRY POTTER SHOULD HAVE ENDED

Both Harry and Hermione proved time and again how dedicated they are to helping others, friends or otherwise. Hermione was extremely passionate about freeing the house elves, which she debated extensively and even founded the S.P.E.W. Among the trio, Hermione’s bravery and self-sacrifice are matched only by Harry Potter himself. She perhaps best displayed this trait when she wiped out her parents’ memories of her, all for the sake of protecting them and saving the world.

Harry was similar, showing how much he cared about Dobby, his friends, and even showing that he’ll willingly risk his life to save a complete stranger, such as when he rescued Fleur’s sister from the lake during the Triwizard Tournament.

Harry Isnt Attracted To Hermione Like He Is To Ginny

There are many factors that go into a successful relationship and one of those is physical attraction. Without this, a relationship is essentially platonic. And Harry just isnt attracted to Hermione the way he is to Ginny. He never sees her as anything more than a friend. Similarly, Hermione never thinks of Harry the way she thinks of Ron.

Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban

If Sirius had just revealed himself to Harry at the beginning of the movie or book, they couldve avoided the rest of the series, and Voldemort wouldnt have come back.

Harry, it is I, Sirius Black, your godfather. I was framed for giving up your parents to Lord Voldemort by a man named Peter Pettigrew, who is currently disguised as a rat and living with a family called the Weasleys. You know them? Your best friend? You dont say.’
