If theres one drink that the Harry Potter universe is famous for, its Butterbeer. And there are actually only a handful of licensed places around the world that sell the official brew .
Butterbeer is, indeed, sold at Universal Studios Hollywood. Youll find it at the Three Broomsticks and Hogs Head in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
The Three Broomsticks and Hogs Head are actually one interconnected building. So, when youve had your fill of rides and youve worked up an appetite, head over to The Three Broomsticks, a beautiful recreation with the atmosphere of a medieval fantasy tavern.
A high wooden ceiling supported by beams and arches, wooden bannisters and balustrades, candelabras and sconces lining the place. The atmosphere is absolutely on point the Three Broomsticks has texture and detail to spare.
The back room of the Three Broomsticks is Hogs Head pub. Youll know it by the long bar and enormous tapped casks that complete the medieval fantasy aesthetic.
Its here that you can order yourself a Butterbeer, with a choice of having it cold or frozen . Frozen, it turns out, is more like a milkshake: thick and creamy. Cold is more like a sweet, cold, non-alcoholic beer.
As for the food, this might be the only place in Los Angeles where you can enjoy traditional British food options. Theres a reason why you dont find British food in California: its a bit rubbish. Were British we can say this. In fact, anyone can say this because its true.

Rumors And Official Announcement
On December 1, 2011, the Wall Street Journal reported a rumor from “people familiar with the matter” that Universal Studios Hollywood was going to add its version of Islands of Adventure’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The report also detailed the possibility that Universal Parks & Resorts would open additional Harry Potter-themed areas at Universal Studios Singapore and Universal Studios Japan as well as a location in Spain. This report was widely relayed by other media sources. On December 6, 2011, Universal Studios Hollywood announced the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Universal Parks & Resorts executives Tom Williams and Ron Meyer were accompanied by Warner Bros. executives, the Governor of CaliforniaJerry Brown as well as James and Oliver Phelps who played the Weasley twins in the films. The announcement came with very few details of what would be built, however, it did confirm that the Gibson Amphitheatre would be demolished and a re-creation of Hogwarts and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey would be constructed. The last show at the Gibson Amphitheatre was held on September 6, 2013, prior to its closure and subsequent demolition.
On April 23, 2013, NBCUniversal made the final step by receiving a unanimous vote in approval of the 25-year expansion by the county Board of Supervisors. This $1.6 billion expansion is expected to greatly boost tourism and the local entertainment industry. It will also create 30,000 jobs during the time of construction.

Getting A Wand At Olivanders
From the book: Harry and friends visit Olivanders shop in Diagon Alley. The Wizards-in-training swish the wands this way and that until Olivander is satisfied that a proper match has been made. Olivander is a good salesman, but in the end, its the wand that chooses its master.
The attraction: You can wait in line for the interactive wand selection experience where you go through a process of the swish and flick. Or you can skip the line, enter Olivanders directly and start perusing the toppling stacks yourself. In LA, Olivanders allows the shoppers to choose their own wands. Sounds to me like a recipe for some bad magic.

Mechanical Issues Stall Rides At Universal Studios

Nearly a dozen people were stuck on two theme park rides at Universal Studios Hollywood Thursday afternoon after the rides encountered mechanical issues.
Los Angeles County firefighters responded to the theme park in Universal City around 3:45 p.m. after 11 people became stuck on the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride within the Wizarding World Of Harry Potter section of the park, officials said.
First responders and park workers were able to slowly get riders off the theme park ride, which takes riders along an indoor track that Universal says features sudden tilting, turning and jarring action, and abrupt multi-directional motion that turns you on your back.
County Fire also confirmed that there was an additional mechanical issue affecting Transformers: The Ride 3D in the lower portion of the park that left riders stranded.
The exact type of mechanical issue is unclear at this time, but a power outage was reported in the area at the time. There have not yet been any reports of injuries related to the stalled rides.

Go In Expecting To Bleed Galleons
No big surprise here, everything is expensive. Set a budget, then double it.
Theres a reason J.K. Rowling is a bazillionaire. Universal Studios admission starts at a non-negotiable $109 per person, and once you enter itll take all your willpower to not buy everything in sight. The cute little shops of Hogsmeade are filled with souvenirs for purchase, sweatshirts, stuffies, marauder maps, you name it.
That mug of butterbeer will set you back a ridiculous $15.33 its basically super-sweet soda in a plastic cup. But when in Hogsmeade
If you want to dress up, youll be in good company. Youll see lots of wizards and witches walking around in school robes. Robes at Universal run $140 apiece we pre-bought a knockoff on Amazon for a fraction of that price.
Universal Studios allows you to bring in your own snacks, just not a full-on four-course meal. Not as fun as ordering English pub food at the Three Broomsticks, but probably healthier and definitely more budget-friendly.

I had one thing on my mind as we entered the enchanted land of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood: Butterbeer. Ever since I read the Harry Potter books, Ive been wanting to try this magical beverage and finally I had a chance because they serve it here three ways: Cold, Frozen and Hot.
But I was distracted as soon as we saw the Hogwarts Express conductor near the entrance to Hogsmeade, posing for cheery photos with guests, and had to have one for myself.
The Hogwarts Express, as Im sure you know, is the train that brings student wizards to Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Students like Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger were all transported by this train into our hearts and imaginations when we read the Harry Potter books, and at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, you can experience the magic come to life.
The town of Hogsmeade is where wizarding students would go on weekends, and there was a magical candy store, a trick shop and of course, the Three Broomsticks a pub which served up a wonderful concoction suitable for all called Butterbeer.
Ive been imagining what Butterbeer would taste like for years, and Id been talking about trying it ever since I knew Universal would open the theme park here in Los Angeles. Finally, here was my chance.
