Hermione Does Some Growing Up In Books 4 And 5

In book 4, The Goblet of Fire, Hermione’s big front teeth become an explicit point of shame. Draco Malfoy uses the insecurity to rag on Hermione upon learning that she has secured a date to the Yule Ball. “You’re not telling me someone’s asked that to the ball?” he asks rhetorically. “Not the long-molared Mudblood?” Always a charmer, that Malfoy.

Ahead of the ball, Hermione tricks the school nurse, Madame Pomfrey, into shrinking her teeth to a more proportional size. She also uses a wizarding product called “Sleakeazy’s Hair Potion” to tame her rebellious locks. With her whole look revamped to impress her quidditch-star date Viktor Krum, Goblet Hermione probably looks as close to Watson’s on-screen portrayal as at any previous point in the books.

The makeover doesn’t last, however. Rowling makes a point of noting that Hermione abandons the hair product after the ball. “Hermione’s hair was bushy again she confessed to Harry that she had used liberal amounts of Sleekeazy’s Hair Potion on it for the ball, ‘but it’s way too much bother to do every day,’ she said.”

His Last Line Is A Plea To Harry

Cedric is killed by Peter Pettigrew on Lord Voldemorts orders when he arrives in the graveyard with Harry at the end of the Triwizard Tournament.

When Harry and Voldemort duel, Cedrics spirit appears to Harry to deliver the characters last line, Harry, take my body, will you? Take my body back to my father.

In the books, the line is almost the same, but Cedric instead asks Harry to take his body back to both his parents.

Cedrics mother wasnt shown in the films, so the line seemed to change to reflect that.

Artist Reveals What Harry Potter Characters Actually Looked Like And It’s Mindblowing

16:03, 21 April 2022 BST| Last updated 9:15, 22 April 2022 BST

An artist has revealed what Harry Potter characters “really” looked like using artificial intelligence and we canât believe our eyes.

Fans of the original books will know that the actors didn’t always match up with J.K. Rowlingâs elaborate descriptions.

Melbourne-based artist and IT graduate, known to her followers as MsBananaAnna, decided to to create incredibly realistic images inspired by the character descriptions in the books.

The results are astounding and so lifelike and Potterheads on MsBananaAnnaâs Reddit page have shared the images on social media.

The pictures have been shared with the original descriptions in the captions. The eye-catching portrait of Draco Malfoy is described as having a âpointed very pale face, cold grey eyes, slick white-blonde hairâ for instance.

There was lots of praise for the portraits on Reddit, with many fans claiming that the artistâs renditions were more in line with what they imagined when reading the book.

âThis is so awesome,â one Potterhead enthused. âItâs taking me back to the way I imagined the characters in the book!â

A second Reddit user showered the artist with praise. âI really enjoyed these, thank you for posting your talent.â

Someone else added: âThese are phenomenal!!!â

While a fourth claimed: âI knew each one without a caption, well doneâ

What The Harry Potter Characters Look Like Based On The Books

I decided I wanted to do a photoshop of what certain characters looked like in the books vs the movies only to Google search “book descriptions of Harry Potter characters” only to find out that it had already been done by BuzzFeed two years ago.

Bummer. However, I decided do my own take on it, mainly because I felt the photoshop edits made of these characters could have been done better

For right now I’m going to work on doing all the major characters from the first book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, adding them as I finish them. I may move on to character’s from the other books when I’m finished and make a separate gallery for each book. Who knows?

Go on, have a pasty, said Harry, who had never had anything to share before or, indeed, anyone to share it with. It was a nice feeling, sitting there with Ron, eating their way through all Harrys pasties, cakes, and candies .

The Forbidden Forest Section Was Full Of Magical Creatures

What These Harry Potter Characters Were Supposed To Look Like

When I got back upstairs, I headed to the Forbidden Forest area, which featured a Hagrid cut-out at the entrance.

Shoppers can measure how tall they are against the friendly half-giant, and they can even compare shoe sizes.

The rest of the section was marked by several large trees and plenty of recognizable creatures from the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts series.

There were even plush toys of Hedwig, Fawkes, and Aragog.

As I was looking around the area, I suddenly heard a loud engine sound, which an employee explained was the Weasleys flying car that goes off every 15 minutes.

I also peered into the glasses on the Whomping Willow to find Pickett the Bowtruckle from the Fantastic Beasts movies.

How Hermione Looked In The Books

Even though people like to laugh about Emma Watsons adorable awkward phase when her hair was more unruly in the early films, that was actually closer to how she is described in the book. The books describe her hair as bushy and brown.

Another characteristic that the films left out is Hermiones smile. In the book, she is described as having two large buck teeth in front. Emma Watson is probably happy she didnt have to wear fake buck teeth!

Harry Potter: 15 Characters That Look Nothing Like They Do In The Books

They might have given great performances, but these Harry Potter actors don’t fit J.K. Rowling’s character descriptions very well.

No page-to-screen adaptation is perfect . There is so much to translate in terms of story, character, and setting, and sometimes something that works on the page might not be quite as exciting on the big screen. When it comes to the Harry Potter series, there was no shortage of changes made in creating the film franchise. Whole characters and subplots were cut out to keep the films at a reasonable length. In some cases, J.K. Rowlings beloved characters wound up looking a whole lot different, too.

There are a lot of reasons why some of the physical characteristics of these HP characters may have been altered. The casting directors for The Sorcerers Stone couldnt have predicted what the child actors would grow up to look like, for example. Plus, oftentimes, it likely came down to who was best suited for the role, not who looked most like the characters. Still, some of these differences ended up being pretty noticeable for eagle-eyed fans. Here are 15 Harry Potter Characters That Look Nothing Like They Do In The Books.

How Ron Looked In The Books

Ron Weasley as described in the books is far different than he appears on screen. First of all, Ron is described as very tall and thin. He is supposed to be one of the tallest boys in the class, but Rupert Grint is only 58.

Ron also has redder hair in the books, and freckles all across his face. Rowling has also mentioned that Ron has blue eyes. Grints eyes are more of a blueish, green hue. In the books, he also has a long nose, whereas Grints nose is pretty dainty!

How Voldemort Looked In The Books

What should the cast of Harry Potter really look like?

While the filmmakers nailed Voldemorts incredibly pale and skull-like face, his snake-like nose, and thin lips, they didnt include his red eyes. He was also supposed to have pupils like that of a cat, rather than a human.

In the films, Voldemort is portrayed by actor Ralph Fiennes, whose eyes are blue. The filmmakers left Fiennes eyes as they are, making Voldemort look a bit more human than he was originally imagined. They also didnt completely edit out Fiennes lips, which would have also brought the character closer to his original description.

Young Draco has amazing hairstyles, ones that have been adopted by hipsters and young fascists the world over. But Im singling out his look in Chamber of Secrets because its truly weird . Like, his hair was not this sickly yellow in Sorcerers Stonenor was it ever that color again. But it works for Draco, heightening his presence as a yuppie-wizard-bully and adding a certain magnetism to the character. Hes a real punk and you should hate himand his haircut makes that extremely easy.

How Bellatrix Looked In The Books

J.K. Rowling described Bellatrix Lestrange in the books as a striking woman. Her hair is supposed to be thick and shining, and her eyelashes are noticeably long. She also has hooded eyes, a strong jawline, and a thin mouth.

The films do a good job of portraying the darkly beautiful Bellatrix, but if they were to have pushed it even further, they could have emphasized more of her distinct qualities. However, Helena Bonham Carter has almost the perfect look for this character, so Ive got to hand it to the casting director!

How Neville Looked In The Books

Oh, poor Neville just cant catch a break! Even his photo edit is one of the more terrifying in this bunch. The blonde hair just looks so different, and the buck teeth in front certainly do make him look a bit Peter Pettigrew-esque.

Thank goodness everyone who finished out the film series watched Neville Longbottom have the glo-up of all glo-ups. The actor who plays him, Matthew Lewis, shocked everyone when we first saw how cute he is outside of his Neville hair and makeup.

Why does the first Harry look like Taron Egerton?

I thought he looked like a Jonas brother.

Oh god I only realised that now

A couple of the people look like they are 5 year olds

Not everyone looks like an exact combination of their parents. Ive met people who look almost nothing like their parents.

Also, Just going through DH again, and Lily and James were born in 1960 and died in 1981. Made me wonder why they looked like they were in their 40s in the movies.

I remember reading once it’s because they wanted Alan Rickman as Snape, so they had to age up his cohort instead of Lupin, Sirius etc being early 30s as they should have been in Azkaban according to the timeline. Not sure if its true but makes sense!

When the eventual reboot comes I’d love the Marauders and co to be younger
