Costume And Set Design

Production designer Stuart Craig returned for the sequel to design new elements previously not seen in the first film. He designed the Burrow based on Arthur Weasley‘s interest in Muggles, built vertically out of architectural salvage. Mr. Weasley’s flying car was created from a 1962 Ford Anglia 105E. The Chamber of Secrets, measuring over 76 metres long and 36.5 metres wide, was the biggest set created for the saga. Dumbledore’s office, which houses the Sorting Hat and the Sword of Gryffindor, was also built for the film.

Lindy Hemming was the costume designer for Chamber of Secrets. She retained many of the characters’ already established appearances, and chose to focus on the new characters introduced in the sequel. Gilderoy Lockhart’s wardrobe incorporated bright colours, in contrast with the “dark, muted or sombre colours” of the other characters. Branagh said, “We wanted to create a hybrid between a period dandy and someone who looked as if they could fit into Hogwarts.” Hemming also perfected Lucius Malfoy’s costume. One of the original concepts was for him to wear a pinstripe suit, but was changed to furs and a snake head cane in order to remark his aristocrat quality and to reflect a “sense of the old.”

Harry Potter And The Half

SEAC

Hogwarts is no longer as safe as it once was in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, directed by David Yates. This is the film where were introduced to Horcruxes, the MacGuffin-like objects that each contain a piece of Voldemorts fragmented soul, keeping him immortal which, of course, sets up the basis of the final two films. And, just in case youve forgotten, this is the film where we lose one of the series most beloved of characters. Were still recovering!

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them

Warner Bros.

We kick off the list with a film with no appearance from Harry Potter Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set many years before Harry ever sets foot inside Hogwarts. Released in 2016, the first film in the Wizarding World series introduces us to Eddie Redmaynes absurdly likeable Newt Scamander, who travels to New York in pursuit of an escaped Niffler, but has dark forces to contend with along the way.

This was written by JK Rowling herself, who claims shes got an idea for a total of five movies.

In case you needed a reminder, there are seven books in the Harry Potter series: one for each academic year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. But, of course, there are eight instalments in the film franchise. The filmmakers wisely decidedly to split the final book into two volumes: The Deathly Hallows, Parts 1 and 2. After that came the two Fantastic Beasts prequel films, released in 2016 and 2018. The correct order to watch all ten films is as follows:

  • Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone
  • Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
  • Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
  • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
  • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
  • Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
  • Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
  • Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald
  • Don’t Miss: How To Do Hermione Granger Hair

Harry Potter And The Philosophers Stone

And heres where it all began: now two decades old, the first film in the Harry Potter franchise is a bona fide classic. If its hard to believe this film is now 20, its even hard to see just how little and cute Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint just were. In this first instalment, the 11-year-old Harry discovers hes the child of wizarding parents and sets off on his first fateful train trip from Platform Nine and Three Quarters to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Yes, some of the kids acting is a tiny bit wooden, but tell us you dont get the chills when you hear Hagrids iconic line: Youre a wizard, Harry. Were still patiently waiting for our Hogwarts letter in the post.

    What Parents Need To Know

Parents need to know that Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is scarier than the first film in the series and characters spend a lot of time in extreme peril. There are frightening creatures, including lots of big spiders and an enormous snake that can kill anyone who looks in its eyes. Though it appears that some characters have been hurt or killed, all the good guys are ultimately fine. Children who are not familiar with the story, however, may be upset. There are also some gross moments when Ron’s spell backfires and he spits up slugs, and when another misapplied spell leaves Harry without any bones in his forearm. Friendship, love, bravery, and loyalty are always major themes in the series. So is the idea of making good choices.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald

Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets – ð´ Live

Our second adventure in the Fantastic Beasts world sees Johnny Depp move from a fleeting cameo in the first film to a full-blown appearance as dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald. Jude Law also stars as Albus Dumbledore. This decidedly gloomy second offering didnt do quite as well as the first, but it did start to explore the complex relationship between the two wizards. We also know Fantastic Beasts 3 is on its way, albeit with some new casting: its now Danish actor Mads Mikkelson who will take on the role of Grindlewald.

Kids will find this chapter a thrilling, eye-filling, and utterly satisfying experience. That applies both to those looking for a meticulous realization of a beloved book and those who come to the theater knowing only the first movie — or even those with no knowledge of Harry Potter at all. The child actors are growing up and they seem more comfortable in their roles here, bringing more depth and subtlety to their acting, and Branagh is wildly funny as the new Hogwarts professor. And there are some magnificent cast additions, especially Jason Isaacs, coolly cruel as Lucius Malfoy, father of Harry’s foe Draco.

Every frame of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is filled with wonder, especially Diagon Alley and the moving photos and portraits. There is a wealth of detail and delight to entrance viewers so much that they will leave wanting more, even after a running time of 2 hours and 40 minutes.

The 9 Most Surprising Harry Potter Movie Moments

    • “Dobby has come to warn you Sir.”
  • Genres
    • The scene in Flourish & Blotts, where Hermione’s parents are seen inside Diagon Alley, has been called a plot hole. Normally, Muggles cannot enter, or see, Diagon Alley. However, the Grangers are accompanied by Hermione, who, as a witch, would know how to enter through the Leaky Cauldron . In the book, the Grangers comment to Mr. Weasley about having visited Gringotts to exchange their Muggle money for Wizarding money. If this is the case, they obviously aren’t the first Muggles to enter Diagon Alley .
    • At the end of the credits we see what happened to the amnesiac Professor Gilderoy Lockhart. He has written a book titled “Who Am I?”. His moving image on the book’s cover wears a straitjacket, and hums the movie’s theme tune.
    • German theatrical version was cut to secure a “Not under 6” rating. Additionally some dialogue was changed . This version was released on DVD & VHS in Germany and Austria but not in Switzerland where the uncut version was released . The uncut version of the movie was rated “Not under 12” and was shown on TV and released on Blu-ray.
