Analysis: Sandra Bullock Is Hollywoods Top Actress

Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts Teaser | Rotten Tomatoes TV

With the recent weak performance of films such as Transcendence and Edge of Tomorrow at the box office, theres been a lot of talk recently about how much actors and actresses are really worth to a film. The poor performance of these films hasnt come as a huge surprise to followers of the Bankability Index, which produces valuations considerably below the $20 million that Johnny Depp reportedly earned from his lead role in Transcendence, and we thought this is a good opportunity to look at what the Index says about the most valuable actors and actresses in the business.

With Angelina Jolie making headlines for all the right reasons for her starring role in Maleficent, it seemed only fitting to start with an analysis of the most valuable actresses in Hollywood. For this chart, weve taken each stars worldwide Bankability Index and divided it by the number of films they make each year to get an estimate of the average value they bring to a film, as of June, 2014.More…

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald

Our second adventure in the Fantastic Beasts world sees Johnny Depp move from a fleeting cameo in the first film to a full-blown appearance as dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald. Jude Law also stars as Albus Dumbledore. This decidedly gloomy second offering didnt do quite as well as the first, but it did start to explore the complex relationship between the two wizards. We also know Fantastic Beasts 3 is on its way, albeit with some new casting: its now Danish actor Mads Mikkelson who will take on the role of Grindlewald.

Daily Box Office: Ralph Is Breaking Record Books

Its Thanksgiving long weekend, which means many studios are closed and are not reporting official numbers. However, one of the studios that is reporting numbers is Disney and they are reporting record-breaking numbers. Ralph Breaks the Internet earned $18.5 million on Wednesday, which is significantly more than either Coco or Moana managed the previous two years. In fact, this is more than Frozen managed during its record-breaking wide expansion back in 2013. This films reviews are great and it earned an A minus from CinemaScore, so it should have good legs and could top Frozens $93.59 million five-day opening. In fact, some studios think it has a real chance of $100 million during its five-day opening. Im not that bullish, but even if it only earns $90 million over five-days, it will still be a monster hit and way more than we predicted. More…

Price Wars And Other Controversies

Asda, along with several other UK supermarkets, having already taken pre-orders for the book at a heavily discounted price, sparked a price war two days before the book’s launch by announcing they would sell it for just £5 a copy. Other retail chains then also offered the book at discounted prices. At these prices the book became a loss leader. This caused uproar from traditional UK booksellers who argued they had no hope of competing in those conditions. Independent shops protested loudest, but even Waterstone’s, the UK’s largest dedicated chain bookstore, could not compete with the supermarket price. Some small bookstores hit back by buying their stock from the supermarkets rather than their wholesalers. Asda attempted to counter this by imposing a limit of two copies per customer to prevent bulk purchases. Philip Wicks, a spokesman for the UK Booksellers Association, said, “It is a war we can’t even participate in. We think it’s a crying shame that the supermarkets have decided to treat it as a loss-leader, like a can of baked beans.” Michael Norris, an analyst at Simba Information, said: “You are not only lowering the price of the book. At this point, you are lowering the value of reading.”

Harry Is Supposed To Have A Dream That Hints At Voldemort’s Connection To Professor Quirrell In Sorcerer’s Stone

Harry Potter various x modern reader

On Harry’s first night at Hogwarts, he has a dream that ends up being quite prophetic.

In the dream, he’s wearing Professor Quirrell’s turban, which gets stuck on his head and tells him to transfer into Slytherin House. He also watches Draco Malfoy morph into Professor Snape.

This scene was cut from the “Sorcerer’s Stone” movie, but without it, it’s hard to say why Harry begins to mistrust Quirrell, or where his initial suspicions about Snape and Malfoy’s bond come from.

Both of those things become pretty important in the first movie and beyond, so it was an interesting choice to leave the dream out.

How Did Harry Potter Come Back To Life

The Harry Potter franchise contains many different emotional deaths and one such should have been Harry himself. However, turns out Harry actually comes back to life after he got hit by the Killing curse. This confused many fans since the Killing curse was presented as a piece of magic that allows you to instantly kill your opponents. So, how did Harry avoid death and come back to life?

The truth is Harry never actually died. His mothers protection lived on in Voldemorts blood after he incorporated it in the potion which brought him back to his physical body. This is why Harry got to heaven, but since he could choose to stay alive he managed to come back to the real world.

The Tragic Story Of What Happened To Neville’s Parents Is Largely Skipped Over In The Films

Neville Longbottom plays an increasingly significant role throughout the book and film series, but his backstory, specifically what happened to his parents, was largely left out of the movies.

Alice and Frank Longbottom only appear in the films in a photograph that Sirius shares with Harry in “Order of the Phoenix.”

However, in the fifth book, Harry, Ron, and Hermione accidentally meet Neville’s parents in their hospital room at St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. After they were attacked, captured, and tortured during the First Wizarding War, they both experienced severe mental-health complications that kept them from reentering society or raising their son.

All of this serves as a key motivation for including Neville in the final fight against Voldemort and provides readers with a more in-depth look at the character, but the scene wasn’t included in the fifth movie.

He Came To An Understanding With Draco

From the very beginning, Harry and Draco never really got along.

They fought throughout their six years at Hogwarts and nearly ended each others lives on multiple occasions.

While the two boys never got along at Hogwarts, they came to an understanding once they grew up and had children of their own.

Their sons become friends at Hogwarts and are sorted into Slytherin. When Draco realizes that his son has traveled back in time with Harrys son, he helps Harry by giving him a powerful Time-Turner which was a perfected version of the one Scorpius and Albus were in possession of.

Draco never would have helped Harry when Voldemort was around, but with the Dark Lord gone and his son in danger, Draco and Harry were able to be on speaking terms.

Weekend Predictions: Moana Takes On Beast Over Thanksgiving Weekend

Harry Potter Return To Hogwarts With Original Cast Coming To HBO Max

Thanksgiving weekend is one of the most lucrative weekends of the year and this time around we could have a relatively close battle between a new release, Moana, and last weeks number one film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. At least thats what analysts thought, before we saw the preview numbers. None of the rest of the new wide releases are expected to do much. Allied could become a midlevel hit, but I would be surprised if its budget was only midlevel. Bad Santa 2 is on its way to becoming another comedy sequel that bombs. If Rules Dont Applys previews are any indication, it will become one of the worst box office performers of the year. This weekend last year, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 beat The Good Dinosaur rather easily. However, Fantastic Beasts started slower than Moana, so I think we will have a new winner this week. â Ron about the wedding preparations

During their time at the Burrow, Harry, Ron, and Hermione are kept busy with preparations for Bill and Fleur’s wedding, which Harry suspects is an attempt by Molly Weasley to stop their planning and delay their departure. Nevertheless, they manage to get together and discuss their plans for completing the quest Dumbledore left them, to find and destroy Voldemort’s Horcruxes.

Jk Knew From The Start That Hagrid Would Live

The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle to Debut January ...

We can’t imagine the planning that would go into creating and writing a series of this magnitude. Thousands of words spread across seven books is just hard to wrap your brain around! But even early on in her writing process, JK had an idea of how it would all end, and who would be left standing.

She says that within the first year or so of writing, she developed a rough sketch of what the final chapter would be she always knew how it would end, and she always, always knew that Hagrid, the lovable giant who rescued Harry and helped him fulfill his destiny, would be the one to carry Harry out of the forest after that epic battle.

Movie Audiences Likely Would’ve Benefited From Knowing More Of Dumbledore’s Backstory

A large portion of the “Deathly Hallows” book focuses on Dumbledore’s history told through stories as well as Rita Skeeter’s scandalous tell-all.

The backstory includes more about his family, his relationship with the evil wizard Grindelwald, and his dabbling in the Dark Arts. Although these weren’t his proudest moments, and they didn’t match with Harry’s perception of Dumbledore, they’re all things that made him one of the most powerful wizards in the world.

Most of this backstory is removed from the movies, making the character of Dumbledore even more elusive.

Harry Potter’s History With The Killing Curse

Harry Potter became the target of the Killing Curse multiple times throughout the series. On Halloween night in 1981, Lord Voldemort ventured to Godric’s Hollow with the intent of killing Harry. James Potter was killed trying to save his wife and child. Lily Potter then shielded her infant son when Voldemort unleashed the Killing Curse, causing it to bounce back and disintegrate his physical body. Harry survived but was left with a lightning-shaped scar on his forehead and a nickname: “The Boy Who Lived.”

Voldemort used the words Avada Kedavra at least three more times on his sworn enemy. The Dark Lord killed Cedric Diggory using the deadly spell during the final task of the Triwizard Tournament. Harry watched in horror as a bright green light flashed before his eyes as his friend’s lifeless body hit the ground. After taking Harry’s blood, Voldemort ordered him to a duel. Voldemort used the Cruciatus Curse and the Imperius Curse before turning to the Killing Curse. His opponent found a distracting during the duel and was able to use the Portkey to get back to Hogwarts with Cedric’s body.

Voldemort used the curse again in the Forbidden Forest, and then again during the final duel that defeated Voldemort once and for all. Harry’s encounter with the Killing Curse in the Forbidden Forest has resulted in a lot of confusion, but there are essentially two main reasons in Harry Potter canon that explain why he didn’t die at Voldemort’s hands as an adult.

The Fantastic Beasts Screenplays

Unless you’ve been living under a rock this entire time, you’ve probably heard of the two new Wizarding World movies that have hit Hollywood in the past few years. Led by actor Eddie Redmayne and an all-star ensemble cast, the Fantastic Beasts films tell the story of Newt Scamander, Albus Dumbledore, and the dark battle against Gellert Grindelward in the blackened days before Lord Voldemort entered the scene.

Of course, you can choose to simply watch the continuation of the Wizarding World on-screen but reading the screenplays of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: the Original Screenplay and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald The Original Screenplay will undoubtedly give you that extra level of depth and insight into the characters.

What Happens To Norbert

7 Times Harry Styles Helped His Fans To Come Out

Harry Potter is just as exasperated at Hagrid for obtaining Norbert the dragon in the books as he is the movies. Yet the dragon is somewhat looked over on the big screen, perhaps due to the fact they needed to cram plenty of action in for the blockbuster’s final act.

In the books, Harry and Hermione put their time at Hogwarts at risk by travelling to the Astronomy Tower after dark and passing the dragon off to Ron’s older brother, Charlie Weasley. Yet in the movie it’s revealed that Norbert was just sent away to Romania by Professor Dumbledore instead. That doesn’t mean Harry avoids a trip to the Forbidden Forest, however…

The Films Ignore An Important Warning From Professor Mcgonagall

In the “Sorcerer’s Stone” movie, when Harry is gifted with a Nimbus 2000 from Professor McGonagall, he opens it at the table in the Great Hall in front of all the other students.

But because first years at Hogwarts aren’t technically allowed to have brooms, in the book McGonagall’s gift comes with a very explicit note telling him not to open it at the table or else everyone else will want one.

No Harry Defending Minerva Mcgonagall

Ah, this is a scene we really wished had been included. In JK Rowling’s novel, Harry and Luna Lovegood sneak into Ravenclaw tower as they hunt for a Diadem that had been turned into a Horcrux by Lord Voldemort. Death Eater Amycus Carrow suspects this, though, and goes to try and stop them.

Harry and Luna manage to hide under the invisibility cloak and Carrow’s screams alert Minerva McGonagall, who goes there. When Carrow spits in her face, however, Harry leaps into action and knocks her out. That, certainly, would have been awesome to see.

Weekend Estimates: Batman V Superman Hits March Record $170 Milion

Batman and Superman not only had to fight each other this weekend, but also mediocre reviews. They have come through in some style, however, posting a record for March of $170.1 million, according to Warner Bros. Sunday morning estimate. Our model has the film coming a little below that mark, at $165 million or so, which might mean it wont quite top Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part IIs $169 million, which is currently the studios best ever weekend. Was It All In His Head

There’s a popular fan theory that everything that happened to Harry Potter outside of Privet Drive was a mental machination of his young, abused mind, and Deathly Hallows did little to dispel that theory. In fact, while at the heavenly version of King’s Cross Station, Harry asked Dumbledore if it was all in his mind and his headmaster told him that it was, but that didn’t make it any less real.

So, was the entirety of the Harry Potter universe fiction, coming from the imagination of a desperate boy who lived under the stairs and who wished for something more? Very possibly so.
