Its true that there are some big differences in Harry Potter and Avatar. The Potterverse is set in the real world, only theres a whole hidden world we everyday muggles dont see.
Avatar, on the other hand, is set in an entirely fictional universe. The magical styles of both are also different. Magic in Avatar is rigid and structured and definitely has its limits, whereas characters like Dumbledore and Voldemort seem to be able to do anything with their magical abilities.
At their cores, though, the movies are incredibly similar. Both stories revolve around a young boy with a huge destiny. The character progression in both is also quite similar, as is the main theme of underdog good defeating all-powerful evil.
Finally, although theyre both full of magic, theyre also entirely relatable.
Madam Malkin’s Robes For All Occasions
Madam Malkin’s is a clothing shop next to Flourish & Blotts. It sells robes and other clothing, including the standard Hogwarts-required plain black work robes, and dress robes. Inside the shop, Madam Malkin and her assistants will tailor the robes to fit. Malkin is an archaic term for a crotchety old woman.
Harry has two meetings with Draco Malfoy in Madam Malkin’s shop. This is where Harry meets the first wizard of his own age, Malfoy, for the first time, in Philosopher’s Stone. Harry is rather bewildered by the questions Malfoy asks, because Harry is still unfamiliar with many aspects of the wizarding world. A second meeting occurs just before the beginning of Harry’s sixth year, in Half-Blood Prince. This meeting is far more unpleasant, and escalates quickly into a near-duel before Malfoy and his mother leave in disgust.
Dumbledore Is A Machiavellian Sociopath
Dumbledore might be the most revered headmaster in Hogwarts history, and he’s certainly willing to step in and play father figure to Harry at a time in his life when he desperately needs moral;and;magical guidance. However, that doesn’t mean the character didn’t have a tragic flaw or two.
As we find out at the end of the series, Dumbledore knows from the start of Harry’s journey to Hogwarts that the kid is doomed to die at the hand of Voldemort. It’s simply a part of his fate part of the prophecy that spells out the Dark Lord’s ultimate demise so he has no choice but to guide this child into becoming the best fighting wizard he can so he has a shot at saving everyone with his self-sacrifice.;
That’s all well and good , but that doesn’t mean he has to send the poor boy into grave danger every single year. From hiring wildly dangerous professors like Remus Lupin to personally ushering Harry into foreboding territories to track down horcruxes and making him sit and watch as his favorite teacher dies right in front of him, well…it’s all pretty cruel if you think about it.

The Fantastic Beasts Movies
When it comes to finding movies like Harry Potter, theres no better way to do that than by watching a movie set in the same universe. The first Fantastic Beasts movie is based on Rowlings Hogwarts Library Book that talks about all kinds of different magical creatures. The movie features a whole new cast of characters, although you may hear some familiar names thrown around. Despite the new characters, though, the whole movie is very much in the vein of Harry Potter.
The second movie is even more similar to the Harry Potter flicks and features younger versions of some well-known characters like Albus Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall. Dumbledore relies on a young, slightly nerdy, inexperienced man named Newt Scarmander to help him in a great battle against the evil Grindelwald, a man who gives even Voldemort a run for his money in the powerful bad guy department.
If you havent seen these yet or if you purposely passed them up because you thought they couldnt possibly compare to the original eight films, go watch them. Youre sure to love them.

Harry Potter Was Kind Of A Skeeze
Whether or not it was within the bro code for Harry Potter to hook up with Ron’s sister Ginny, he was still kind of a jerk when it came to his decision to move on Cho Chang in;The Order of the Phoenix. Cho had been in a relationship with Cedric Diggory in;The Goblet of Fire, and after he died, she was pretty broken up about it. Instead of considerately consoling his friend, whose boyfriend’s body he’d literally held in his arms, and giving her time to grieve, he maintained his initial interest in courting her. Sure, she had some feelings for Harry, too, but that kiss shouldn’t have happened. It served him right that he didn’t get to enjoy it because of all the tears she was shedding for her lost beau at the time. Gross.

Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire
During Harry’s fourth year, Hogwarts plays host to a legendary event: the Triwizard Tournament. Three European schools participate in the tournament, with three ‘champions’ representing each school in the deadly tasks. People Really Wasted Their Talents And Tools
As creative and thorough as Rowling was, there were some aspects of the stories there were pretty frustrating in hindsight. Snape had the gift of legilimency, for example, but didn’t bother using it to figure out Bartemius Crouch Jr. was using polyjuice potion to disguise himself as Mad-Eye Moody in The Goblet of Fire . Hermione’s time-turner could’ve been used for far more important things than overloading her school schedule and springing an animal from execution. Harry could’ve probably used that luck potion for the grander picture of defeating Voldemort. And Minerva’s shape-shifting skills should’ve given her an upper hand in undermining Dolores Umbridge, who just so happened to be a sucker for cats. Instead, all of these elements just came and went unceremoniously during more trivial moments of convenience, despite the fact that there was an all-out war in motion. And let’s not forget how casually Dumbledore gifted Harry one of the three sacred Deathly Hallowsthe Cloak of Invisibilitylong before he could come anywhere near appreciating its true value.
St Mungo’s Hospital For Magical Maladies And Injuries
St Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries is a hospital within the Harry Potter universe. Medics at the hospital are not called doctors, but are known as Healers and wear lime-green robes. Founded by famous wizard Healer Mungo Bonham, St Mungo’s is located in London. It was established to treat magical maladies, injuries or illnesses endemic to the Wizarding World. To enter the premises, one has to step through the window of what appears to be a derelict department store called Purge & Dowse Ltd. The exteriors of the hospital are red-bricked and dirty, which is the complete opposite of the interiors. Inside, everything is very neat and looks exactly as a hospital should. There are six floors. The emblem of St Mungo’s is a magic wand crossed with a bone. This is the hospital where Arthur Weasley is sent after he was attacked by Voldemort’s snake, Nagini, in the Ministry of Magic and Minerva McGonagall is hospitalised from severe stunning when Hagrid is forced out of Hogwarts. During one visit, Harry and company happen across Neville Longbottom, who has come with his grandmother to visit his parents in the long-term care ward. They also find former professor Gilderoy Lockhart there, still suffering from the effects of a backfired Memory Charm.

Harry Potter And The Cursed Child
While not part of the original seven-book series, Cursed Child and the accompanying stage play have become a generally accepted addition to the Harry Potter canon. This 336-page text picks up where the Deathly Hallows epilogue left off, with Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Malfoy sending their unfortunately named kids off to Hogwarts Harrys son Albus and Malfoys son Scorpius serve as our protagonists this time around. Upon arrival at Hogwarts, the boys are both sorted into Slytherin and forge an unlikely friendship, which naturally causes tension between Albus and Harry over the next few years.
After a fight with his father, Albus overhears Cedric Diggorys father Amos asking Harry to use a more powerful version of a Time Turner to go back in time and rescue his son.
