Crookshanks had befriended Sirius black dog form and had accompanied him to the Shrieking Shack which is when Sirius had to touch a specific knot on the bottom of the willow to make it stop writhing. Crookshanks had recognized this knot and used it when Hermione and Harry were attacked by the Whomping Willow.
Wrongful Accusation And Imprisonment

If there is one theme that this book very subtly yet aptly touches on more than any other, it is the theme of wrongfully accusing someone of a crime they didnt commit and punishing them for it. Sirius Black was accused of killing Peter Pettigrew and several other people despite being innocent and Peter being the actual culprit. So, when he finally comes face to face with Peter, he exclaims the aforementioned lines out of the frustration that has compounded over the years from being wrongfully accused.
He is so frustrated with the law for having treated him wrongly that he has no choice but to want to perform the very crime he never committed but did time for. Furthermore, it is a very bold statement portraying how much of a struggle it must have been for an innocent man like Sirius to spend his time in a place like Azkaban prison.

Shortly afterwards, Scabbers escapes from Ron’s grasp. Harry, Ron and Hermione run after him and spot the black dog and Crookshanks. After Ron catches Scabbers, the dog grabs Ron by the arm and pulls him in a passage under the Whomping Willow, breaking his leg in the process. Harry, Hermione, and Crookshanks follow after them. The passage leads them to the Shrieking Shack, where they find Ron, Scabbers, and Sirius Black. Black turns out to be an unregistered Animagus whose animal form is a black dog he was the one who dragged Ron down into the Shrieking Shack.

Alarmed by the adverse effects the Dementors have on him, Madam Pomfrey insists that Harry stay in the hospital wing for the rest of the weekend. The following week, Lupin is back teaching class and states that the class doesn’t have to write the essay Snape assigned for them, though Hermione has finished hers. After class, Harry goes to Lupin wondering why the Dementors affect him so much. Lupin explains that Dementors are fear itself and they pull forth the horrors from a person’s past, which is why just before he faints, Harry hears his mother screaming before she dies and why the Dementors affect him worse than anyone else. Harry asks Lupin if he can give him private lessons on the spell to drive off Dementors in case another one arrives at a Quidditch match. Lupin says he will, but after the Christmas holidays, citing his frequent illness.
Hufflepuff is defeated by Ravenclaw in their next Quidditch match, which gives the Gryffindor team a chance in the running for the Quidditch Cup. Harry, who uses an old school broom in training sessions, is busy looking to obtain a new broomstick for himself so Gryffindor can stand a chance in their remaining matches.

What Is A Time Turner
A Time Turner is a time traveling device in the Harry Potter universe. It is usually worn around the neck as a necklace. The Time Turner used by Hermione in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban required rotations to be made for each hour one decides to go back in time. However, in the narrative of this book, it is shown that time turners dont change the past, they only allow one to go to the past, do anything and that matches the continuity of the real world without any time paradoxes.
Differences From The Book
Prisoner of Azkaban was, at the time of publication, the series’ longest book. The increasing plot complexity necessitated a looser adaptation of the book’s finer plot lines and back-story. The connection between Harry’s parents and the Marauder’s Map is only briefly mentioned, as is Remus Lupin‘s association to the map. Additionally, it was never mentioned who the Marauders were or who the nicknames Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs referred to. Some exposition was removed for dramatic effect: both the Shrieking Shack and Scabbers the rat are mentioned only very briefly in the film, while they receive a more thorough coverage in the novel. Most of Sirius Black‘s back story is also cut, with no mention of how he escaped from Azkaban.
On account of pace and time considerations, the film glosses over detailed descriptions of magical education. Only one Hippogriff, Buckbeak, is seen, and only Malfoy and Harry are seen interacting with the Hippogriff during Care of Magical Creatures lessons, and most other lessons, including all of Snape‘s Potions classes, were cut from the film. The Fidelius Charm’s complicated description is removed entirely from the film, with no explanation given of exactly how Sirius is supposed to have betrayed the Potters to Lord Voldemort. Many of this scene’s lines are redistributed amongst Cornelius Fudge and Minerva McGonagall in compensation, McGonagall’s exposition of the Animagus transformation is instead given by Snape.

Is Harry Potter Too Scary For A 5 Year Old
Due to the success, J K Rowling started making them darker and more adult orientated as the series went one. Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone is fine for young children. Once you get to book 4 The Goblet of Fire, four would be too young for it. With the films, I would say number 3 is a bit too scary for a 4 y/o.

Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban Establishes The Rules Of Time Travel In The Wizarding World
After passing out, Harry wakes up in the Hospital Wing to the news that Sirius is about to receive the Dementor’s Kiss that is, have his soul sucked out. Unpleasant. Luckily, viewers find out Hermione has been bending the rules of space and time all year to attend extra classes. Hermione has a Time-Turner, which she can use to go back to before Buckbeak was executed, before Lupin transformed, and before the Dementors attacked Harry. For this last part of the film, we see the events of the day from a new perspective. Hiding from their past selves, Harry and Hermione free Buckbeak and rescue Sirius. It’s all very Back to the Future Part 2.
This part of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban frames the rules of time travel within the Harry Potter universe. It would appear that Harry Potter’s time travel is a closed-loop, per Vulture. You can’t change what’s happened in the past because you already saw the effect of what you did in the past. In the gang’s first encounter with Buckbeak’s execution, we only hear the axe make contact with something. In the second go-round, we learn that it was the executioner plunging his axe into a tree stump, frustrated that he didn’t get to kill something. And the stag that saved Harry and Sirius from the Dementors? It was Harry’s Patronus.
Is It Any Good
Harry Potter is 13 in this third movie based on the globally popular book series, and the movie itself seems to be entering adolescence, with its darker themes, darker images, and darker emotions. The first two movies were competently directed by Chris Columbus, with brilliant production design and meticulous attention to detail, making sure that the books’ passionate fans were happy — but playing it safe.
For Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Columbus stayed on as a producer, but there is a new director, Alfonso Cuaron, whose previous work has demonstrated ferocious visual flair and great sensitivity in working with and portraying children and teens . He has kept the best of the first Potter films and enriched it with his own splendid vision, meshing perfectly with the tone of the story and the increasing complexity of the themes and characters. The third in the series is darker than the first two, but it possesses the same magical qualities that Potter fans will love.

Hermione’s Time-Turner
Harry, Hermione, and Ron are taken to the Hospital Wing, and Black is taken to West Tower, where he is sentenced to a Dementor’s Kiss. When Dumbledore arrives, Harry and Hermione try to tell him what actually happened, but Dumbledore tells them that, though he believes them, he cannot save Black, as the evidence against him is too great. Snape had lied about what happened earlier to Cornelius Fudge, and the Minister will not take the words of under-age students seriously.
Dumbledore gives the pair cryptic instructions and bids them good luck. Hermione then reveals she has a Time-Turner, a device that will take them back through time. McGonagall gave the device to her during the Sorting on their first day back this explains why throughout the year, there had been occasions of Hermione taking multiple classes at the same time and apparently disappearing into thin air.
After Hermione and Buckbeak catch up, they wait until they see Macnair leave the castle to retrieve the Dementors. He and Hermione then fly Buckbeak up to West Tower and rescue Black. Harry and Sirius say their goodbyes before Sirius flies away on Buckbeak.

Costume And Set Design
Cuarón wanted to establish a more mature tone in the characters’ costumes and the sets. He explained, “What I really wanted to do was to make Hogwarts more contemporary and a little more naturalistic.” He studied English schools and noted, “Each teenager’s individuality was reflected in the way they wore their uniform. So I asked all the kids in the film to wear their uniforms as they would if their parents weren’t around.” Columbus considered the costumes changes as “a reflection of the character development within the books themselves” and their transition to teenagers. Whereas in the first two films the characters are constantly in their uniforms, in Prisoner of Azkaban the characters often wear modern street clothes. Rowling, who had to be consulted on this change, stated, “for me the cloaks and everything makes sense for the academic time but in personal time they would be wearing their own clothes.” joined the film as costume designer, also working on all of the following instalments in the series.
Some sets were either reused from earlier films or used for more than one space. The Defence Against the Dark Arts and Divination classrooms were filmed in the same set.
