Did Snape Know That James Potter Had A Cloak Of Invisibilty

How To Make An Invisibility Cloak From Harry Potter!

In the Sorcerers Stone, when Snape was roughing up Prof. Quirrel in the hallway, Snape noticed that something was nearby .I guess Snape heard Harry breathing .I have two questions: did Snape know about the cloak since James probably used it when they were at school? And did Snape know it was Harry under the cloak?

  • I dont think this is ever established in the canon, but I would guess not. Otherwise the finger of blame points more clearly at Harry for certain things . I always thought that it was Snape hearing Harrys breathing, although I dont think its verified anywhere.Jun 9 13 at 12:03
  • 1@leftaroundabout: indeed. In fact, I think its when Prof. Snape finds Harrys invisibility cloak near the end of Prisoner when he learns its Harrys. b_jonasJun 10 13 at 9:14
  • @leftaroundabout: true. In fact, doesnt Snape use it to sneak into the Shrieking Shack? So he might have guessed that James owned the cloak, but I dont think he knew James had a cloak when they were both at school. Which is subtlely different and I should probably have clarified. alexwlchanJun 10 13 at 10:03
  • But doesnt it defeat the purpose of having a Deathly Hollow that makes you undetectable if the Head of Hogswarts can look right at you? Knowledge doesnt equal discovery.

Dumbledore Also Gives Harry The Resurrection Stone

During the first book, Harry Potter catches a Golden Snitch by swallowing it during his first Quidditch match. Later, Potter discovers Dumbledore hid the resurrection stone within that snitch. After Dumbledore’s death, his will leaves the resurrection stone-containing snitch to Harry.

“To Harry James Potter, I leave the Snitch he caught in his first Quidditch match at Hogwarts, as a reminder of the rewards of perseverance and skill,” his will reads.

For a while, Harry is unable to open the snitch. A sentence merely appears on the golden sphere, “I open at the close.”

But at the end of the final book when Potter is walking to his death match with Lord Voldemort, he’s finally able to open the snitch by whispering “I am about to die.” Inside, he finds the resurrection stone, the stone that was part of the Tale of Three Brothers. Harry is then able to see all of his deceased family members before what he believes is to be his final fight with Lord Voldemort.

About The Harry Potter Invisibility Cloak

Harry Potter Invisibility Cloak:Now You Can Become ...

The concept of the Harry Potter Invisibility Cloak is very simple. You simply download the app, pop on the cloak and there you have it Mischief Managed!

The Harry Potter Invisibility Cloak pack comes with a large sized cloak which has the traditional authentic old woven design on the one side, just like the one you will see in the movies. With a silk green lining on the reverse, this is the side which turns invisible when used alongside the app.

To use the cloak, you simply unpack it from the box, download the special free WOW Stuff app and enter the unique code on the instructions to link the two together.

Using the stand included in the box, you set up the scene you want to use, and set the app into invisible mode. You can then set a timer countdown to give you time to prepare, and flick between still images or video recording depending on the footage you wish to capture.

Whilst the cloak is worn with the green side facing outwards, the green screen effect will make you appear to be invisible, meaning you can create floating heads or moving objects whilst your body seems to disappear. You can see it in action in my video below.

Can Dumbledore See Through The Cloak Of Invisibility

Dumbledore is a very powerful wizard, but even he has limits. He should not be able to see through the cloak. Although J.K. Rowling mentioned he used a spell when seeing Harry and Ron at Hagrids, it would go against everything she wrote on the cloak!

Maybe she was in a hurry or was not thinking at that moment. But we have a different idea. And a simpler one at that.

Dumbledore also used reasoning to figure out where Harry was. We all remember these situations at the Mirror of Erised and in Hagrids cabin.

Dumbledore positioned the mirror specifically for Harry to discover, and most likely set up the situation to force Harry into the room.

Dumbledore was expecting Harry, so he could have guessed when he heard the door open and footsteps that Harry had entered the room and stood in front of the mirror. Harry most likely removed his cloak once inside the room, and Dumbledore noticed him.

And then there was Hagrids cottage. Dumbledore noted the two extra teacups, as well as other signs of a visitor.

Dumbledore is aware that only three pupils pay visits to Hagrid, and only one of them has an invisibility cloak. Looking around the corner was also a good guess.

Dumbledore expected them to move as far away from the door as possible, so he looked to the farthest corner.

If there are any other exceptions, Im sure Dumbledores keen perception and understanding that only Harry has a perfect invisibility cloak can explain them.

Can Dumbledore See Through Invisibility Cloaks

More than likely, yes. A magic spell that tells you there’s invisible people in a room is kind of useless unless you also know where they are in the room so it’s not that farfetched if the spell also lets your brain or whatever know where the people are located. Probably – but his eyes only “flickered” towards them.

Is Harry Potter A Pure Blood

Harry is not a pure-blood wizard because his mother, Lily Evans, was muggle-born. While this makes Harry a half-blood, the term half-blood is not only used for wizards who have one muggle-born parent. Any wizard with identifiable muggle-born parents is called half-blood. So, Harrys children were also considered half-blood, even though they were only one-quarter descendants from a muggle-born wizard.

Muggle-born wizards are often referred to by the derogatory term mud blood. While the term pure blood applies to those who only have wizarding ancestors, it is questionable in the current age whether there are any wizards that dont have some muggle blood in their family.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows

The invisibility cloak is one of the three deathly hallows given to the Peverell brothers when they encountered Death. The other two hallows are the Elder Wand, considered unbeatable, and the Resurrection Stone, which allowed the user to speak with the dead.

According to legend, whoever could unite all of these hallows would become the master of death. Harry did this prior to the Battle of Hogwarts.

Professor Dumbledore was in possession of the Elder Wand when he died. Voldemort killed Snape since he was the one who killed Dumbledore, so Voldemort assumed that the loyalty of the wand passed to him. But it was in fact Draco Malfoy who disarmed Dumbledore, and Harry later disarmed him. This meant that Harry was the master of the wand and was able to thwart Voldemort when he used it.

When Voldemort was defeated, Harry came into possession of the wand. Harry chose not to wield the wand. Instead, Harry used the Elder Wand to repair his own holly wood and phoenix feather wand.

The Resurrection Stone seems to have been an heirloom of Voldemorts own family, suggesting that he too was related to the Peverell brothers. It was on a ring worn by Lord Voldemorts grandfather Marvolo Gaunt.

So, while Dumbledore was in possession of all three hallows at one time or another, Harry seems to have been the first wizard to be in possession of all three hallows at the same time following the defeat of Lord Voldemort.

Pansy resumed the slow stroking of Malfoys hair, looking dumbfounded.Do you mean Him?

OMG: Harry Potterâs Invisibility Cloak May Actually Be a ...

Ignotus son got the Cloak of Invisibility. Ignotus son had no male heirs, so his eldest daughter, Iolanthe, took over.

The male line of the Peverells died around this time, but the heirloom was passed down through the female line, the Potters since Iolanthe had married Hardwin Potter from Stinchcombe.

Properties Of The Invisibility Cloak

A lasting characteristic of this capable piece of clothing is the fact that it doesnt wear down over time with age and use.

As the name suggests, it makes anything under the material completely invisible.

This allows the user to sneak around undetected, even a powerful and dark individual.

As you can probably tell, its a useful and sometimes even necessary object when dealing with Voldemort and his Death Eaters.

Invisible material is usually woven out of hair from Demiguises, which is a magical creature that can turn invisible with the properties of its natural coat.

Standard materials can also gain this property through the use of a kind of enchantment.

Normally, Disillusionment Charms and Bedazzling Hexes can disguise someone or something as the surroundings.

However, these effects wear down over time.

In addition to the Cloak of Invisibilitys lasting invisible properties, it has more than normal. It protects the wearer against hexes, jinxes, and various harmful spells that would make normal invisibility cloaks useless.

For example, Thiefs Downfall at Gringotts failed to reveal the wearer.

Unfortunately, it doesnt protect from individually targeted spells.

Any detection methods not dependent on optical sight could actually reveal the user.

While the abilities of this object are quite incredible, where do they come from?

Additionally, the only way to fully understand how Harry received the cloak is to understand where it actually came from.

Is Harrys Cloak Of Invisibility A Deathly Hallow

The Cloak of Invisibility is a magical item that makes the wearer invisible and is among the legendary Deathly Hallows.

It was the third and last Hallow produced in The Tale of the Three Brothers, allegedly by Death himself.

Legend has it that whoever combines this with the other two Hallows will become the Master of Death.

This was the only known invisibility cloak that would not decline with age and also provide the wearer with eternal immunity, which no other invisibility cloak could.

As a result, it was the only Hallow believed to have been passed down properly down the generations since Ignotus time.

It was passed down to Harry Potter in 1991, who used it to great success in the Second Wizarding War and decided to pass it down to his children.

Three brothers were out traveling the country together, according to The Tales of Beedle the Bard The Tale of the Three Brothers, a wizarding fairytale. They came across a river that was both too deep to wade and too dangerous to swim across.

As a result, the siblings used magic to create a bridge. When Death came and spoke to them, they were in the middle of the bridge. Death enraged that they had outwitted him, gave each brother a prize for outwitting him.

Because the artifact is the only one of the Hallows whose authority can be shared by two or more individuals at the same time, it may also embody a certain spirit of goodness.
