Why Harry Potter Is Better Than Twilight

Twilight: Emphasis On Romance

7 reasons why Harry Potter is better than Twilight

If somebody wants to read mainly about a love story, Twilight is a better choice than Harry Potter. Yes, there are romances in the Harry Potter world as well but they’re a small part of a much bigger mix. Twilight focuses on the romantic relationships between its characters, and while not everybody may like Bella and Edward together, there are some other interesting couples, such as Alice and Jasper or Esme and Carlisle.

Does Harry Know How To Use A Wand Yes

These Harry Potter books were a new world for children to grow up in and grow with. The kids in the books were struggling with good and evil, friendships, loss, and everything else. Twilight is just a story about a girl who is in love with a wolf and a vampire. It is poorly written and has no substance. There is no great struggle other than Wolves and Vampires hate each other and a girl who can’t decide between them. Give me Harry Potter and not Twilight!

Harry Potter Is For Everyone

Whether it be a 12-year-old boy or a 21-year-old girl, anyone and everyone can fall in love with Harry Potter . This series is for every age group since it is an easy read for children, but still sophisticated enough for young adults and adults. I know guys older than me who love Harry Potter, and who arent ashamed to admit it. Try to find the same number of guys in that age group who love Twilight, and you probably cant do it. Chances are, they were dragged there by their girlfriends.

The Plot Twists Are Wild And Unpredictable

Okay, Renesmee was a huge surprise considering we were led to believe vampires couldn’t have babies. Other than that, the series is pretty predictable. We all knew Bella would end up with Edward from the first book. But I certainly wasn’t expecting Dumbledore’s death . And NOBODY could see Snape’s twist coming. A seemingly hateful professor, who was once Death Eater, switching sides for the woman he’s loved since childhood and remaining a double agent until he himself is double crossed?! GENIUS.

There Are So Many Captivating Magical Creatures

WHY HARRY POTTER IS BETTER THAN TWILIGHT

In Twilight, we have vampires and werewolves, which are always fun. But in Harry Potter, we get so much more! We have the traditional fantasy creatures like dragons, mermaids, and giants, plus completely new creatures like boggarts, thestrals, and dementors. There’s creativity on every freaking page.

The Friendships Are So Much Stronger

Sure, Bella is fond of Angela and becomes pretty good friends with Alice. But Bella doesn’t experience anything CLOSE to the bonds that Harry shares with Ron and Hermione. They are Harry’s ride or dies who will legit do anything for him. Remember when Ron sacrifices himself as the knight so Harry can confront Quirrell? Or when Hermione erases her parents’ memories so she can help Harry save the wizarding world? Sorry, but the most that Alice does for Bella is drive her around Italy in a stolen Porsche.

Because Vampires And Werewolves Get Boring

The only magical creatures featured in the Twilight series are vampires and werewolves. They also discuss gifted humans, but mostly in the context of how their abilities transfer into vampire powers. In Harry Potter, however, Rowling created a multitude of unique creatures, from the small yet mighty mandrake, to the bone-chilling dementors. There’s even an additional book, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, which describes the history of Magizoology and documents 85 magical creatures. Take that, Stephanie Meyer! Fans’ curiosity to learn more will be satisfied when a film based on the book will be released in 2016, starring Eddie Redmayne as writer and researcher Newt Scamander. Vampires and werewolves are so 2005.

Harry Potter Sends A Better Message

Harry Potter teaches those who read it to be brave and about friendship. It supports femenist ideas as Hermione, Ginny and Luna are all good role models, Whereas Bella Swan is not. Twilight suggests girls should fawn over men and wait to be saved by them. Also, Harry Potter is a much more thrilling in general whilst twilight just goes on about Bella’s relationships with multiple paranormal boyfriends give or take a few small fight scenes. Harry Potter is captivating and builds a world that both adults and children want to be in, Whilst Twilight is mainly aimed at teenage girls who wish they had a hotter boyfriend.

Harry Is A Wayyyy Better Role Model Than Bella

Harry does what’s right and has fun along the way. While nobody is saying that he’s perfect, I am saying that young girls shouldn’t look up to Bella. In New Moon, Edward leaves Bella, and she completely loses her will to live. She only begins to find herself once she grows closer to Jacob. What kind of message does that send to impressionable teens?! A woman’s self-worth should not stem from her relationships with hot guys.

It Connects With More People

Harry Potter speaks to audiences of all ages. From young children to grown adults, the series connects with fans on such a deep level. And there’s something for everyone: fantasy, adventure, thrills, mystery, comedy, drama, romance. Boyfriends won’t be embarrassed to watch the films , and kids will happily enjoy both books and films with their parents. Twilight, on the other hand, is a much more polarizing series. Due to its highly emotional and romantic plot lines, there is a stigma that a majority of Twihards are teenage girls. Bella never really grew up with you the way that Harry, Ron, and Hermoine did. Her storyline feels rushed and far too extraordinary for audiences to connect with. Even though Harry’s life is also quite unusual, in the end, Rowling found ways to touch upon his very tangible sense of humanity, as he grew from young boy to heroic man.

Nobody Drops Wisdom Like Dumbledore

10 Reasons why Harry Potter is better than Twilight ...

Throughout the Harry Potter series, each book and subsequent movie taught important and meaningful lessons. With the help of the wise and all-knowing Albus Dumbledore, Harry learns the importance of friendship with friends who become his surrogate family. He is encouraged to seek truths and to always stand up for what is right, no matter what the consequences may be. Most importantly, Harry teaches all of us to be brave and have courage, even in the face of death.

Take a look at Twilight‘s lessons, and it comes off like a Lifetime movie special. A seriously emo girl becomes even more emo, marries a vampire, gets pregnant, and decides to become a vampire and be immortal. Sure, she fights in battles towards the end and helps protect her family, but there’s no takeaway. No masterful one-liners like, “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” Boom. Dumbledore drops mic.

Twilight: There Are Vampires In It

Not everybody may like the way vampires were characterized in the Twilight franchise. That doesn’t change the fact that vampires are one of the most popular supernatural creatures both in films and in literature.

Twilight gives them a lot of space, creating complicated mythology and history. Harry Potter, on the other hand, only has a single vampire in the books who shows up at one of Slughorn’s parties but doesn’t really make an impression.

The Harry Potter Franchise Has Its Own Rides And Attractions At The Universal Studios Theme Parks

On June 18, 2010, the Harry Potter franchise became even larger and expanded to theme parks. Fans were first introduced to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universals Islands of Adventure that day and it was the first time they were able to experience the world of their favorite wizard. According to Visit Orlando, Too wildly imaginative and expansive to be contained by any one theme park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is split between Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida and Hogsmeade at Universals Islands of Adventure, with the Hogwarts Express connecting the two. Before you know it, youll be casting spells, quaffing Butterbeer, going to a Quidditch match and even facing off against Lord Voldemort himself.

Since then, Harry Potter has expanded to all of the Universal Studios theme parks and its still the only place where people can literally step inside the magical story of Harry Potter. Twilight is featured in one theme parkthe Lionsgate Entertainment World in Chinabut it only has one ride thats based on the movie. With Harry Potter being in so many theme parks, its definitely become one of the most popular franchises today.

Harry Potter: Not Just For Girls

Regardless of the reader’s genre, everybody can enjoy Harry Potter with its elaborate and enchanting world of magic. The book may have been written by a woman but it certainly isn’t reserved for women and girls. Twilight, on the other hand, is geared for the stereotypical female reader, even though it shows the main heroine as someone who wants to die when a guy leaves her.

Harry Potter: Better Female Heroines

30 reasons why Harry Potter is better than Twilight

It’s true that Bella might be relatable for many young readers who also feel they’re in no way special. But she’s way too dependent on Edward and her behavior when Edward temporarily dumps her is far from healthy.

Harry Potter, on the other hand, has plenty of amazing inspirational strong female heroines. There’s Hermione, of course, and Ginny, who may not have gotten much love and space in the films, but she’s a total badass in the books. And neither of them let their whole lives revolve around their guys.

The Main Characters Have Distinct Lovable Personalities

Our favorite trio is very different from one another. Harry’s a humble, curious boy with a wonderful sense of right and wrong from growing up with the Dursleys. Hermione’s a brilliant, stubborn girl who throws herself into her studies. And Ron’s a funny slacker who struggles with his low socio-economic status and being the youngest son. In Twilight, Bella and Angela are both quiet, shy girls. And Edward’s very similar to Carlisle and the other vampires .

The Character Development Makes Me So Damn Proud

Aside from turning into a vampire, Bella is pretty much the same girl from the beginning of the series. Now, it’s not really fair to judge Harry and Bella by the same standards since Harry obviously grows up a ton from 11 to 17. But the other Harry Potter characters experience so much development, too! Remus grows to accept his werewolf self enough to find happiness in his marriage, Regulus dies in an attempt to thwart the Dark Lord, and even Percy abandons his Ministry-loving ways to reunite with his family. We don’t get such satisfying character arcs from Twilight minor characters.

Relationships Are Built On Connection And Not Just Looks

Bella mentions Edward’s beauty like, every other page. We get it. He’s gorgeous. In comparison, Harry thinks Ginny is pretty, sure, but she’s also fierce, smart, and spirited. Most importantly, she and Harry really get each other. When Harry breaks up with her to pursue the Horcruxes, she gets that it’s for a “stupid, noble reason.” Their bond is built on friendship and understanding, not just attraction.

Do The Math: 8 Reasons Harry Potter Is Greater Than Twilight

WHY HARRY POTTER IS BETTER THAN TWILIGHT

ByTim Gomezpublished 16 July 09

Let me preface this by saying that I didnt mind the first Twilight movie. It wasnt art, didnt have much to say, but it was dumb fun aimed at getting little girls body temperatures all warm, and I thought it was pretty amusing. Girls in the same row as me quoted lines that they knew would be recited on screen, they giggled at the sight of Edward, sighed at that really terrible And then the lion fell in love with the lamb line. Yet, somehow, I walked out fairly entertained.

But then the Harry Potter comparisons started rolling out. Media pundits everywhere declared Twilight the new Harry Potter. I wondered, flabbergasted, how any person could ever believe such a thing. Potter?! Really? What I saw onscreen was soap opera trash for the tween nation. It didnt bear anywhere near the universal appeal of the Harry Potter series. But now Im here, explaining how such a preposterous claim is less an arguable statement and more a joke, an unfunny one at that, like Will Ferrell trying to ice skate.

So how is Potter better than Twilight? Well, for one, its not Twilight. As for everything else, have a seat. Lets do the math.

The Characters Are Nuanced Just Like People Are In Real Life

In Twilight, you’ve got the bad guys, and you’ve got the good guys, who are pretty much perfect. In Harry Potter, we see the full scope of humanity. Sirius wisely tells Harry, “The world isn’t split into good people and Death Eaters.” Even our heroes are flawed! Just look at Ron: though he abandons his friends when the going gets tough, he makes a valiant return and proves his loyalty in the end.

Harry Potter: More Detailed Villains

Twilight villains are very bland and it’s difficult to cheer for them. Harry Potter also has its fair share of villains but their motivation is much clearer and more understandable than with the Twilight saga. For example, Severus Snape is considered a villain for the longest time but then it turns out he was actually a double agent. That’s the kind of character background the Twilight franchise mostly lacks.

Harry Understands That Sacrifices Need To Be Made To Triumph Over Evil

Bella gets pretty much everything she’s ever wanted by the conclusion of the series: Edward, Jacob, becoming a vampire, and even keeping her human father Charlie in her life. Honestly, it feels like a fairy tale ending for a children’s book. In comparison, Harry has lost his parents, Sirius, Dumbledore, Remus, Tonks, Dobby, and Fred. He even walks into the forest to sacrifice himself so they can defeat Voldemort. There’s a heavy price to pay for defeating evil, and that’s way more realistic.

Harry Potter: Brand New World

10 Reasons why Harry Potter is better than Twilight !

Both Harry Potter and Twilight belong to the fantasy genre but only Harry Potter properly uses all the genre offers it and can truly be called imaginative. Twilight also includes some original elements but it’s very much connected to the everyday world. Harry Potter creates a brand new world with its own set of rules and details, though, and it’s fascinating to discover it as people keep on reading or watching.

There Is More Action In Harry Potter

As I said earlier, Harry Potter is more intensely entertaining than the Twilight Saga. There is much more action throughout the Harry Potter series than in the latter. More importantly, the action diversifies. While Harry Potter many consistently be fighting Lord Voldemort, the action sequences change drastically for each novel. In Twilight, the vampire wars are generally the same, which makes the action scenes less interesting and appealing. You are enthralled as you read about Harry Potters adventures, rather than reading about the sickeningly annoying Bella Swan trying to hold on to her Edward.

The Villains Are Super Complex And Three

In Twilight, we get a few interesting villains: James, who enjoys the thrill of the hunt Victoria, who wants to avenge him and the Volturi, the corrupt ruling family with an agenda. But they ~pale~ in comparison to the evildoers of Harry Potter: Voldemort, a powerful, orphaned wizard who doesn’t understand love and seeks immortality instead Lucius, who aligns himself with the bad guys until his son is at stake and Professor Umbridge, who sees herself as a hero but pursues order by any means necessary.

Reasons Why Hp Is Better Than Twilight Part One

1. Harry Potter fans arent vain and we dont base our favourite books depending on how hot the vampires and werewolves are.

2. HP books are much better written and English teachers agree with this comment.

3. Stephen King hates Twilight and loves Harry Potter and we can all rely on Stephen King to be a good critic.

4. Twilight may include beautiful romantic elements. However, Harry Potter includes many beautiful romances, lots of exhilerating adventures, action, magicthe list could go on.

5. There are many more layers to the plotline, story and genre of Harry Potter.

6. Even Cambridge graduates enjoy Harry Potter.

7. Harry Potter has an adult version as it is aimed at a wide variety of the population. Twilight is in the teenage section & the teenage section alone.

8. Harry Potter fans can spell and put forward a decent argument on these discussion groups, not like omg rpattz is hot n stuff.

9. Robert Pattinson was Cedric before Edward and he looked and acted better as that role.

10. Kristen Stewart can not act as Bella-she blinks too much and bites her lip. Is that all she can do with that character?

11. I dont blame Kristen for the above. Bella is a very boring character and I doubt theres much you can do with someone who is totally dependant on a man and who falls over at any given moment.

12. How does Twilight even make sense? If Jasper goes crazy over a paper cut then he wouldnt be allowed to go to school where people get paper cuts all the time.
