The Brothers Revealed The Tidbit To Their Co
English actors and brothers James and Oliver Phelps played the role of mischievous twins Fred and George Weasley in Harry Potter movies. Now, the brothers have revealed that they did not know which twin they were supposed to be playing until a few minutes before the table read for the first movie Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. While James played the role of Fred, Oliver portrayed George.
The brothers revealed the tidbit to their co-star in the franchise Evanna Lynch on their podcast Normal Not Normal. The topic of the episode was Lynchs upcoming memoir. Lynch played the role of Luna Lovegood in Harry Potter movies. Oliver said on the latest podcast episode, Were talking five minutes before were supposed to start, we still had no idea who was Fred and who was George. The actor added that when he enquired the casting director about the same, she thought he was kidding.
Oliver added, Now we always like to think they just Oh, you didnt get the memo about the huge meeting we had in Burbank with like 50 people on the call. But in hindsight, it was probably either Chris, David, or J.K. Rowling just saying James is Fred.’

They’re Having Trouble Leaving The Wizarding World
When James and Oliver Phelps were interviewed about their upcoming post-Potter lives in 2011 by The Guardian, the two were hopeful about their careers. “We want to continue acting but not necessarily together,” explained James. “We’ve had a few meetings with casting agents in the States but there is a perception that we come as two. I said I want to do individual stuff and one guy just said ‘Oh no, I don’t see that happening.’ I shut off as soon as he said that, I wasn’t interested.”
Of course, the two actors are also quick to thank the franchise for the opportunity to dive into such an immensely popular world. In 2018 at a MegaCon convention in Tampa Bay, the twins discussed their relationship to author J.K. Rowling. “She’s just an incredible woman,” gushed James . “Who I owe, pretty much more than half my life because of her. She’s been very, very good with us.”
All things considered, the two probably owe more than half their lives to Rowling as they’re still doing Harry Potter-related events. If you take a peek at their acting credits, neither have done much outside of magical franchise . Instead, the boys are still sticking to attending theme park openings and exhibitions giving Potterheads all over the world exactly what they’re after.
Percy Weasley Chris Rankin
After playing the pompously-reformed Percy Weasley in the Harry Potter films, Chris Rankin largely put acting aside. Instead he took on work behind the camera, working as a production coordinator for Atlantis, Downton Abbey, and A Discovery of Witches. He did, however, make an appearance as Mycroft in the Hillywood Shows parody of Sherlock. If youd like a chance to meet Rankin, youre in luck! Like his fellow Weasley brothers, Rankin can also be found at many fan conventions throughout the year.

Whats Your First Wizarding World Memory
Oliver: Our first memory would be being on holiday with some family friends in 1998. The boys who were away with us were really excited because their auntie picked up a new book at the airport. We remember thinking, How can a book get people this excited? Id never seen a reaction like this before. I read the first book, then this new book they had. It was Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Tom Felton Is Still Best Known As Draco Malfoy But He Also Appeared In The Flash
While Felton is still best known for Malfoy, he’s been able to capitalize on that in a way few other “Potter” stars have. The 34-year-old recently watched the first film in the series, “Sorcerer’s Stone” for the first time and reacted live on TikTok, getting lots of headlines.

They Appeared In Several Productions Both Together And Separately
Following their career as the Weasley twins, James and Oliver Phelps had hoped to continue acting, but not necessarily together. They have always expressed a desire to be seen as individuals rather than a matching set, and much of their post-Potter work has reflected this wish. James worked on the projects Ward 3 and The Turn, while Oliver worked on Ears without his brother.
Most recently, the brothers have appeared in the TV movie Danny and the Human Zoo as Brian and Barry Carter. Prior to that, the two made guest appearances on King of the Nerds, starred in the short film Hogwarts Express and played constables in Own Worst Enemy.
How Old Are The Other Harry Potter Characters
When James and Lily were 20 years old, they just had Harry, and when Sirius was just 21 years old when he entered Azkaban. These facts are not the easiest to grasp since we believed Sirius was much older.
When Harry first arrived at Hogwarts, Hagrid was 63 years old, while Snape was just 31. According to the Harry Potter fandom Wiki, Lupin and Tonks married in 1997, making Lupin 37 years old and Tonks 24 years old. Tonks attended the same school as Charlie Weasley, but she graduated only a few months before Harry.
James and Lily probably married and had Harry at a young age because of the first war against Voldemort, which is not that strange at all. Of course, it was only because of their deaths and Lilys sacrifice for Harry that their story ended so suddenly.
Tonks most likely decided to marry Remus as soon as possible during the second Voldemort war for the same reasons. Remuss condition had kept him from finding a partner, let alone having a wife and child.
Students are not sent a letter on their birthdays, however. They typically get their letters/notifications in the summer before school starts. By coincidence, Harrys birthday is in the summer, so it is about the same time, and technically Harry got his first letter a week before his birthday.
We hope this clarified some questions and concerns about the ages and the brutality of life these young individuals had to go through. Still, their stories never age, much like the characters in them!

They Became Uncles Several Times Over
While the loss of Fred Weasley during the Second Wizarding War has devastated fans, Fred would have loved to have known that he became an uncle when so many of his siblings had children following the series. In addition to his twin’s two children, his sister, Ginny, had three children with Harry Potter, named James Sirius, Albus Severus, and Lily Luna. His brother, Ron, had two children with Hermione Granger: Rose and Hugo.

Ronald Weasley, also known as Ron, is a pureblood wizard and the sixth child of Arthur and Molly Weasley. Unlike many other pureblood wizards in the series, his family isnt well off and they are also friendly with muggles/muggle born wizards. His siblings include Bill, Charlie, Percy, Fred, George, and Ginny Weasley.
Harry Potter and Ron quickly became friends at Hogwarts where they were both sorted into Gryffindor House. They met Hermione Granger early on, but didnt officially become friends with her until sometime later in the year after a bit of a rough patch with Ron.
