Was Snape Bad In Harry Potter

Why Harry Potter Took Place in the 90’s Not the 2000’s (HP Explained)

During Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Snape uses his Patronus to lead Harry to the sword of Gryffindor. After Voldemort killed her, Snape secretly changed sides and agreed to help Dumbledore protect Harry from Voldemort. With all of this, it seems that the answer is clear: Snape is a good person.

Hogwarts Legacy Story And Setting

The game takes place around the late 1800s at Hogwarts, though Warner Bros. revealed that well be visiting both new and old locations. Players take on the role of a student who has the ability to perceive Ancient Magic and holds the key to a secret that can tear the wizarding world apart. With choice playing a major role in the game, players can decide whether they want to protect this secret or use it for evil.

The trailer teased that theres a much larger world outside of Hogwarts, and we briefly saw Hogsmeade, meaning well be taking some trips to the village outside of the school grounds. Well also be able to explore parts of the Forbidden Forest. Thankfully Aragog and his offspring havent been born yet, but Im sure there will be plenty of threats that await. The Forbidden Forest has been known to home thestrals, werewolves, unicorns, centaurs, and many more species.

Avalanche, the developer behind Hogwarts Legacy, ensures that this is a wholly original story. Because it is set before the books take place, we will not be seeing many of the characters were familiar with. Dumbledore attended Hogwarts in the late 1800s, though, so theres a small chance he could appear depending on what year this game takes place.

The Clock Tower Courtyard

This set really blew me away the first time I saw it in Prisoner of Azkaban, when Harry couldnt go on the Hogsmeade field trip because he didnt have his guardians permission or later when Hermione and Harry help Sirius escape.

This gorgeous courtyard, dotted with odes to the films time motif, also features a fountain with eagles and serpents like in the Mexican coat of arms, a nod to director Alfonso Cuaróns roots. This was all a set, but a gorgeous one!

Option D: New College Oxford

Last but not least, we have The New College in Oxford, which makes a special appearance in Goblet of Fire, most notably when everyone is taunting Harry with their Potter Stinks badges .

We then see the courtyard especially well when Malfoy is being a jerk to Harry while straddling a giant oak tree for some reason, and Mad Eye Moody comes out and turns him into a ferret. Good stuff.

Option E: The Great Lake

When Does

Over the years, production managers have used a variety of locations for Hogwarts Great Lake.

Tracking down a place that properly looks like the lake though might be a challenge, given that theyd often used a clever mix of Virginia Lake in Surrey, England , mixed in with composite background shots from famous Scottish lakes.

So, really, the Great Lake is a bunch of lakes kinda mushed together.

Nonetheless, the Virginia Water Lake in Surrey, England is easily recognizable as where, in Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry flies with Buckbeak and later fights off dementors by the lake.

Its also seen prominently in some of the scenes in Goblet of Fire, like during the second Triwizard Cup challenge, and for a few other scenes like Neville fishing/Harry reading when Hermione comes and has to pass messages between Harry and Ron.

But yes, the majority of the super dramatic landscapes you see in the films, especially lake-related ones, make use of background shots from Scotland, including Loch Shiel, Loch Eilt, and Loch Arkaig.

Dumbledore And Grindelwalds Impending Duel

Notably, at the end of Crimes of Grindelwald, Newt and Dumbledore discuss how Dumbledore and Grindelwald swore not to fight one another.

Instead of making an Unbreakable Vow, the two made a Blood Oatha new concept for Harry Potter fans. Considering that Dumbledore and Grindelwald do eventually fight, a Blood Oath is presumably breakable, unlike an Unbreakable Vow.

The Crimes of Grindelwald

The Harry Potter Films Take Place In The 2000’s

The films, on the other hand, do not take place in the 1990s. While it is not specified in the dialogue of the first film, it can be inferred from the modern haircuts, technology, and a primary school certificate for Dudley Dursley that it takes place in the year 2001.

The books and films take place from 1991-1998 and between 2001-2008, respectively, though it’s easy to get confused, considering the final book was released in 2007 and the final film in 2011.

But there are plenty of debates online between fans who consider the films to have taken place in the same timeline as the books. One reddit user points out that in the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 graveyard scene, “Harry’s parents’ headstone still says they died in 1981” and another said that the movies also take place in ’90s, but it was “laziness” on the part of the filmmakers to include aspects of modern day.

It would likely be easier for everyone if we had access to a time-turner.

Other Forms Of Communication

Apart from the fake Galleons enchanted by Hermione for Dumbledore’s Army, there are a few other methods of closed-channel communications used in the books and films. Subjects painted into wizarding portraits are frequently used to carry messages between locations where their portraits hang. Phineas Nigellus is used to send messages between Dumbledore’s office and his other portrait in Grimmauld Place. Hermione takes Phineas from Grimmauld Place during Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and uses Phineas to obtain information about events at Hogwarts. Dumbledore also uses two other former headmasters in a similar fashion when Arthur Weasley is attacked by Nagini in the Ministry of Magic. A portrait is also seen carrying messages between the Minister for Magic and the Muggle Prime Minister in the opening of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Another form of closed communication used in the books and films is a set of mirrors that belonged to Sirius Black. Sirius gives Harry one mirror in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, with a note explaining to Harry that Sirius and James Potter used to use the mirrors to talk to each other when they were put in separate detentions. In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Harry uses a shard of his broken mirror to call for help from the Malfoy’s cellar, and later finds out that Aberforth Dumbledore had been watching over Harry using Sirius’ mirror, which he obtained from Mundungus Fletcher.

During The Sixth Year

As Hermione had predicted, the sixth-years free periods were not the hours of blissful relaxation Ron had anticipated, but times in which to attempt to keep up with the vast amount of homework they were being set. Not only were they studying as though they had exams every day, but the lessons themselves had become more demanding then ever before.
The increased difficulty of sixth year

At Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, sixth-years were typically 16 to 17 years of age.

The sixth year was the year in which students advanced to N.E.W.T.-level classes. Based off of their O.W.L. scores, and depending on the minimum requirements of the Professor teaching the subject at that time, students were allowed to take any number of classes as long as they met the requirements. Neither the core classes nor the elective courses were available to any student who did not meet said requirements. While students did have the opportunity to choose whether they wished to continue in particular subjects, those who began studying N.E.W.T.-level subjects in their sixth year are expected to carry on with the subject into the seventh year, and sit the N.E.W.T. exam in that subject.

Sixth-year students were initially excited to have more free time, but this extra time was intended to help them study and do homework, as many, if not all, teachers assigned more homework and gave more difficult lessons in their N.E.W.T.-level classes.

Is There A Trailer For Hogwarts Legacy

Yes! The game was finally revealed with a cinematic trailer during September 2020 PlayStation 5 Showcase. You can check it out for yourself below.

From the trailer, we can see that despite taking place in the late 1800s, many Hogwarts traditions are still present. For example, owls still seem to play a large role at Hogwarts. As do the haunted decor items.

We can also see Hippogriffs in the trailer, as the narrator mentions the world outside Hogwarts. Perhaps you can travel the land using flying creatures like Hippogriffs?

We also get a look at a masked person in a few shots. Like all masked people, they appear rather fearsome. Perhaps this person is the games villain?

What Is Hogwarts Legacy

When Does the

Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world RPG set around the late 1800s that allows you to customize your own character in the Harry Potter universe. Warner Bros says that players can craft potions, master spell casting, and upgrade talents, among other things. Judging from the trailer, it looks like one of the ways well be learning new spells and potions is by going to different classes.

Its clear that Warner Bros. wants this to be your adventure. Hogwarts Legacy will immerse you in the Wizarding World like never before in a video game. Its name, Hogwarts Legacy, refers to the legacy that players will create while attending the school and battling Dark Wizards. How Warner Bros. will deal with the conflict of you creating a legacy that somehow no one in the books or movies ever references is unknown, but this is a trap that a lot of licensed IP falls into.

The Cars In Privet Drive Were Made In 1999 In The Year 1991

We never saw much of the Muggle world in Harry Potter, with the bulk of the books taking place in and around Hogwarts. The most we see of the non-magical world happens during Harrys time at Privet Drive over the summer.

The first Harry Potter movie shows us Privet Drive as its being bombarded with letters from Hogwarts. Theres a scene where we see lots of owls sitting outside of the house, much to the despair of the Dursleys. All of the cars shown on Privet Drive are Vauxhall Vectra Estates, which were not made available to the public until the year 2000, even though the start of Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone takes place in 1991.

May 2 1998 The Battle Of Hogwarts Takes Place

I’ll fast-forward seven years to the next important date for our timeline, since I assume you can place the rest based on Harry’s Year at Hogwarts. But the 7th book dates are tricky, since the trio isn’t at school. So you should know that the Battle of Hogwarts took place on May 2, 1998. Because it is this date from which we get the next important date, “19 years later…”

How Is Leta Lestrange Related To Bellatrix

Struggles The Harry Potter Cast Had to Deal with on Set |ð?¿OSSA Movies

The first Fantastic Beasts movie teased the appearance of Leta Lestrange , presumably a relation of the evil Bellatrix Lestrange and her husband Rodolphus Lestrange from the Harry Potter series. We learn that while Leta was Newts girlfriend at some point she is now engaged to his brother Theseus.

Fans might assume from her last name that Leta was intrigued by dark magic, like most of her relatives. But while Letas father was a truly horrible man who used the Imperius Curse to steal another mans wife and impregnate her, Leta the child born of that assault does not inherit her fathers evil inclinations.

Leta feels guilty for switching out her crying baby brother for another baby on a ship to America, just to get a moments rest. When the ship sank, Letas true brother went with it. The other baby survived with Leta. That means that Credence is not a part of the Lestrange family, despite what many in the film suspected. Leta proves her story with a Lestrange family tree that looks similar to the Black family tree featured in Order of the Phoenix.

And at the end of the movie, Leta sacrifices herself in an attempt to fight Grindelwald and save Newt and Theseus. Letas untimely death means that she cannot be a direct ancestor of Bellatrixs husband Rodolphus, since Leta did not have a childat least that we know of. Rodolphus must be descended from another branch of the Lestrange family.

Harry Potter In Glencoe

Filming for the third Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, took place on location in Glencoe in May and June 2003. Regular visitors to Clachaig Inn and Glencoe will spot a familiar looking backdrop in the film, and in subsequent Harry Potter films.

During the spring of 2003, three sets were built near to the bottom of Clachaig Gully, and quite literally, just across the road from Clachaig Inn.

The sets were located so as to take in the fantastic scenery, overlooking the Torren Lochan, and the Signal Rock forest to the rugged hills of the glen. Filming continued for a period of several weeks and most of the stars were seen on set at some time or other during the course of the filming.

Visitors to Clachaig during the early summer were quite taken aback to find Hagrids Hut, complete with pumpkin patch and smoking chimney, the sundial and the turreted gatehouse, and the Bridge to Nowhere sat neatly on the hillside above Clachaig.

The sets have now been removed and the hillsides returned to their natural state, leaving behind little evidence of the excitement that descended upon this quiet corner of the glen for a few weeks. Of course, location filming is not new to Glencoe.

Over many years a number of well known and very successful films have been shot in the glen. Some of these have featured brief scenes, whilst others have involved elaborate sets and a considerable amount of filming.

A Breakdown Of The Hogwarts School Curriculum By Year

Harry Potters school year keeps getting disrupted by the latest thing Voldemort is planning but what would a normal Hogwarts curriculum look like?

Its safe to say there are a lot of questions about the Hogwarts curriculum. Unlike the Muggle world, young witches and wizards dont seem to bother with math or reading classes . Instead, their curriculum consists of fantastical subjects called things like Care of Magical Creatures and Transfiguration. The students dont seem to really spend time on anything mundane, which makes sense. Magic does seem pretty complicated in itself. Of course, in the books, the trio doesnt seem to actually spend that much time in classes. Their school year keeps getting disrupted by the latest terrible thing Voldemort is planning, and they dont even bother with their seventh year.

At the end of The Half-Blood Prince, Harry insists that he wont return to Hogwarts, deciding that destroying the Horcruxes is more important. Likewise, Ron and Hermione decide that theyre in it until the end with Harry, so audiences dont even get a look at what their seventh year would have been like. With the Death Eaters having essentially taken over the school at that point, it probably wouldnt have been a great experience anyway. So while Harry, Ron, and Hermione were off being heroes and saving the day, what were the rest of the students actually learning?
