Is Cursed Child A Sequel To Deathly Hallows
The Deathly Hallows Part 2 was the last film in the Harry Potter series, based on Rowlings last novel in the book series of the same name. I would not say it is an immediate sequel, but chronologically the events of the Cursed Child are set after the Deathly Hallows.
So yes, technically it is a sequel, but not in the sense that it is another Harry Potter adventure. The Cursed Child tells the story of the next generation, featuring the kids of Harry and Ginny, Ron and Hermione and of course, Draco Malfoy.
So it is more like a spin-off rather than a sequel in the strict sense of the term. Though the Cursed Child does feature the main characters from the original series and is also set in Hogwarts. The story is based on important events from the original series as well.
In other words, it is difficult to be seen as a standalone story. To be able to understand the events, you got to relate it to the original series. So in that sense you can say it is a sequel and it can be considered as the eight Harry Potter film.

The Director Says The Actors Are Just About The Right Age To Star In An Adaptation
Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint havent reprised their roles of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley for a decade now, but the director of Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, Chris Columbus, wants to bring the gang back together for one more ride.
Speaking to Variety, Columbus said he would love to work on a movie adaptation of The Cursed Child, a 2016 Harry Potter play that takes place 19 years after the final book in the series ends.
I would love to direct The Cursed Child,’ Columbus said. Its a great play and the kids are actually the right age to play those roles. Its a small fantasy of mine.
Radcliffe, Watson, and Grint are all in their early 30s, making them about the right age to play Harry, Ron, and Hermione on the big screen once again for this story. The Cursed Child focuses on Harry and Draco Malfoys children, with the original heroes serving as supporting characters. The play was a big hit on Broadway, setting records when it opened in 2018.
