What Are The Seats Like On Harry Potter And The Forbidden Journey

The seats on Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey are in a bench style with three people to a bench, each seat within the bench then has over-the-head shoulder harnesses to secure you in place.

Guests looking to ride Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey need to be at least 48 tall.

However, while this ride has no maximum weight limit you will not be able to ride if the over-the-head shoulder harness can not secure you in place.

Test seats are located at the entrance of the ride and again at the front of the queue just before you board the ride.

Each test seat has a red, yellow and green light to indicate whether a guest is able to fit securely in the seat.

If the light is green then youre safe to ride in any seat. Meanwhile, if the light is yellow then youre permitted to ride in one of the modified seats and finally, if the light is red then youre sadly unable to ride.

Note that seating modifications for larger guests are only available at Universal Studios Orlando and not at Universal Studios in Hollywood.

Are There Size Limitations On Hagrids

You must be 48 inches tall to ride.

Like all thrill rides at Universal, theres a warning that anyone with a waist larger than 40 inches might not be able to ride. In my opinion, the ride can handle people significantly larger than that.

Theres a test vehicle right at the proper queue entrance not the one back in the Lost Continent where you can test yourself.

In my opinion, the motorcycle part is more accommodating than the sidecar.

Go Inside The Forthcoming Harry Potter Ride

To set the stage, riders will venture to the edge of the Forbidden Forrest and enter some ruins located beyond Hagrid’s hut. It is here that your Care of Magical Creatures class with Hagrid will begin.

Ultimately, Hagrid’s motorbike will take you on an adventure that reaches speeds of up to 50mph and has a record-breaking seven total launches .

The new Harry Potter ride, the longest in Florida at nearly a mile long, will travel in multiple directions . It will also be the first coaster in the US to have a free-fall drop! And, in a twist, the experience will be different whether you’re riding on Hagrid’s motorbike or in the side car. Double the fun, though also double the amount of time waiting in line if you want to ride twice . To keep the excitement building, here’s a brand new first-person look at some of the twists and turns of the ride but don’t watch if you want to be fully surprised come June.

This ride will plunge you into a pit of Devil’s Snare after whisking by Fluffy, the three-headed dog, and a swarm of Cornish pixies. There are more surprises in store because, as you know with all things Hagrid, things don’t always go as planned.

Along with the high speed come pretty big height requirements. Sorry young wizards, but you will have to be 48 inches for this one. That’s the same as for Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, but more than is required for Escape from Gringotts and Flight of the Hipporgriff .

A New Ride Design Rises

As has often been suggested by fans of the series, it does appear that a different ride system was considered after the trackless idea was scrapped. This one would instead feature an elevator.

Just like the lifts of the British Ministry in the stories, the idea would allow the ride vehicles to move in multiple directions.

This concept was supposedly first designed to utilize a suspended ride system, which Universal has patented. We spoke about this ride possibly using a suspended ride system in a previous story, but mistakenly speculated it could be used for a flying car. Instead, it appears to have been designed for a new type of elevator ride.

Rather than a thrilling drop ride, like the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, this patented ride system instead would carry riders up and down between two different levels at much less thrilling speeds.

The point of the system is that while the riders are experiencing a scene on one level, the other levels scenery could be changing. That way, the car could travel up and down, back and forth, multiple times, but appear to arrive at a completely different floor of the building at each stop, even though its really only the same two physical locations.

Hagrid Takes Center Stage

As the premier of this new ride gets closer and closer, Universal Orlando is sharing more details about the ride itself, including the fact that an animated Hagrid, Hogwarts’ gamekeeper, will take center stage.

The theme park says it has created a 7′ 6″-tall “hyper-realistic animated figure” that has 24 different body motions and facial expressions that capture the essence of Hagrid. The animatronic figure’s costume was also created by the same designers that developed the character’s on-screen wardrobe for the movies. And, actor Robbie Coltrane voiced Hagrid’s script as well to make sure visitors feel the experience is as authentic as possible.

Wait times can clock in by as much as 185 or more minutes plenty of time to remember the actor who brought such humanity to the role of the gentle giant. But this adventure is an unabashed tribute to Harrys beloved friend, and it just might be the best ride you ever experience.

Located at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter Hogsmeade at Universal Orlandos Islands of Adventure, Hagrids is a hair-raising three-minute hurtle traveling up to 50 miles an hour and featuring the first free-fall vertical drop in the United States. The ride shoots forward like a bat out of Azkaban, dips, spirals, accelerates, reverses, drops and revs up again … and again. Surely Hagrid himself is at the wheel.

When the most die-hard Harry Potter fans visit the incredible reconstruction of Hogsmeade in Hollywood, they will feel like they are missing out on something, since they know that here they cannot enjoy the equally amazing Diagon Alley, where there is the roller coaster dedicated to the descent through the underground tunnels of the Gringotts Bank, the famous Knight Bus, and the mysterious atmosphere of Nocturne Alley.

However, it must also be said that the Wizarding World of Hollywood is really remarkable. The village of Hogsmeade is reconstructed in the smallest detail. Walking inside Hogwarts Castle surrounded by paintings and talking hats is breathtaking, and it is right here at the castle that you will find the best ride : Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.

In short, if youre a fan of Harry Potter and are passing through Los Angeles, I doubt youll be disappointed, and you can go on all the other attractions in Universal Studios Hollywood, including a tour of the movie sets, and in my opinion, that alone is worth the price of the ticket and is the exclusive privilege of those who visit Universal Studios Hollywood.

The three main Universal Harry Potter rides at Islands of Adventure are Hagrids Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, and Harry Potter and the Flight of the Hippogriff. Its important to note that both Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida share the Hogwarts Express which will transport guests between the two Wizarding World lands.

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit

Unlike most of Universals other coasters, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is not tied to a movie franchise, nor does it have much of a theme. Its schtick is that passengers can choose the song they want to hear as the soundtrack to their ride. With its vertical lift hill and its large, non-inverting loop, this coaster is unusual. As the train makes its way around the loop, its track twists so that passengers are never upside down. At 167 feet tall and reaching 65 mph, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is a major-league coaster. Note that the ride can be a bit rough.

The Leaky Cauldron is in my opinion not a kid friendly location. The food is more English style. The atmosphere is fantastic. If you like fish and chips, beef lamp, or fishermans pie then this is for you. It is a unique experience and fun if you have sophisticated taste buds.

Moving The Idea To Epic Universe

Originally rumored as an expansion for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida, there was talk surrounding Universals desire to bring this iconic location from the films into the park. While it may have been planned to replace the Fear Factor Live stage in its early iterations, the concept was eventually moved somewhere where they have much more room to work with instead.

Universal wasted no time preparing their newly acquired plot of land near the Orange County Convention Center back in 2017, and officially announced a new theme park in 2019, named Epic Universe.

Official concept art for the new park appears to feature four themed lands branching out from a central hub area. While Universal has not yet confirmed it, we do believe one of these lands will be another Wizarding World, the 3rd such land in Orlando.

Harry Potter Shows Universal Studios Vs Islands Of Adventure

There are three shows at Islands of Adventure Hogsmeade. There are nightly light shows on the Hogwarts Castle. This is one of the best shows as it uses music and lights to tell a story. It is incredible.

The other two shows at Hogsmeade are located between the Hogwarts Castles and Hogsmeade Village. Each show alternates throughout the day every half hour with a total of around 12 shows in a day.
