The attraction: The Flight of the Hippogriff is a fun, but mild roller coaster ride. Its suitable for all but the smallest kids. Hagrid is on hand to introduce you to Buckbeak. But the ride doesnt require you to blow politely before getting on. Nor does the ride require the payment of a dead chicken. Bummer cause I had one in my bag just in case.

Is It Worth It To Visit The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter In Hollywood
When the most die-hard Harry Potter fans visit the incredible reconstruction of Hogsmeade in Hollywood, they will feel like they are missing out on something, since they know that here they cannot enjoy the equally amazing Diagon Alley, where there is the roller coaster dedicated to the descent through the underground tunnels of the Gringotts Bank, the famous Knight Bus, and the mysterious atmosphere of Nocturne Alley.
However, it must also be said that the Wizarding World of Hollywood is really remarkable. The village of Hogsmeade is reconstructed in the smallest detail. Walking inside Hogwarts Castle surrounded by paintings and talking hats is breathtaking, and it is right here at the castle that you will find the best ride : Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.
In short, if youre a fan of Harry Potter and are passing through Los Angeles, I doubt youll be disappointed, and you can go on all the other attractions in Universal Studios Hollywood, including a tour of the movie sets, and in my opinion, that alone is worth the price of the ticket and is the exclusive privilege of those who visit Universal Studios Hollywood.

Wizarding World Of Harry Potter At Universal Studios Guide
One of the best additions ever made to the Universal Studios theme parks was The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando have areas dedicated to the Boy Who Lived. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is an immersive experience so that once fans step foot into the land, they will feel like they have stepped into the movies and books.
Universal Orlando has two Harry Potter themed lands: Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade. Hogsmeade is located in Universal’s Islands of Adventure and Diagon Alley in Universal Studios Florida. The Hogwarts Express connects both of these Harry Potter themed lands- you will need a Park-to-Park ticket in order to ride though since it transports you between the two main theme parks at Universal Orlando.
Universal Studios Hollywood only has Hogsmeade but with a larger amount of shops to compensate for Hogsmeade being the main focus. Universal Studios Hollywood is a working studio and doesn’t have the same capacity as Orlando to expand. Despite that, the experience of Hogsmeade at Universal Studios Hollywood is just as amazing and immersive as its counterpart in Florida.

They had me at Butterbeer, which you can find cold or frozen at stands in Hogsmeade. You can get hot, cold or frozen Butterbeer with your meal inside The Three Broomsticks, as well. The restaurant sells pumpkin juice, apple cider and pear cider to wash down your meals. The English food is quite good. There are all kinds of edible treats inside Honeydukes. All of those fun candies that Harry Potter purchased off of the snack trolley on the Hogwarts Express are there! The Hogs Head sells nonalcoholic Butterbeer, alcoholic beers, mixed drinks and whiskeys. You can snuggle up with a drink in a cozy booth or a spot in front of the fireplace.

Coming in at number one is Hagrids Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure as probably to best ride in all of Orlando. This Harry Potter roller coaster is an incredible addition to the Wizarding World, as it was just added in 2019. Hop into Hagrids motorbike and soar around the Forbidden Forest to locate all of the magical creatures on the Hogwarts grounds. You will be pleasantly shocked during this Harry Potter ride in Islands of Adventure with launches, drops, high speeds and so much more!

It might even be our number one ride in all of Universal Orlando Resort with how much magic is packed into it. The storyline of this Harry Potter ride cannot be beat, and it totally checks all of the boxes for theme, queue and overall experience. It also is offered for Early Park Admission, which we highly recommend due to the high wait times.

How To Get Chosen For The Interactive Wand Experience
As with every kind of guest-involved interactive experience, its not a guarantee that youll be chosen. However, there are a few tips for getting chosen to partake in the wand-selection process. In most cases, guests who are wearing Harry Potter gear such as wizarding robes tend to get selected at a higher rate especially if theyre wearing Gryffindor colors.
Furthermore, if you enter Ollivanders with a wand in hand, you will probably not be selected as they want to provide this unique experience for those who havent already purchased a wand. If you have a wand but never experienced the interactive experience, put your wand in your bag so its out of sight to increase your chances.
Also, keep in mind that children will most often be selected to participate in the show. It doesnt mean that adults young at heart cant be chosen, just know that your chances might be slim if a child is in the group. Another good rule of thumb for getting picked for this experience is to look excited and stand near the front of the group.

From the book: Harry and friends visit Olivanders shop in Diagon Alley. The Wizards-in-training swish the wands this way and that until Olivander is satisfied that a proper match has been made. Olivander is a good salesman, but in the end, its the wand that chooses its master.
The attraction: You can wait in line for the interactive wand selection experience where you go through a process of the swish and flick. Or you can skip the line, enter Olivanders directly and start perusing the toppling stacks yourself. In LA, Olivanders allows the shoppers to choose their own wands. Sounds to me like a recipe for some bad magic.

If you are a fan of Harry Potter, you are going to LOVE the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios.
This part of the park will make you feel as though you have been transported straight into Hogsmeade and the shops along Diagon Alley.
As you approach the entrance to Hogsmeade, you will immediately notice the attention to detail.
This looks like the real deal. There is snow covering the rooftops, the Hogwarts Express train has steam coming from the top, the shops are open and full of people .
If you are looking for a wand, Ollivanders is where you need to go. Not only can you find character wand replicas and sets, you can also buy an Interactive Wand that allows you to cast spells throughout Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade.
The interactive wand can be used at various locations. Simply stand on a marked spot and cast a spell! You never know what will happen!
Those who have read the Harry Potter series of books will be quite familiar with Honeydukes Sweet Shop. This store features many of the treats that are featured in the books and films.
While a bit overpriced for the quality, the packaging alone makes up for it. Everything is quite eye-catching and the bright, colorful displays draw you in right away.

If youre looking to experience Universal Studios Hollywood when its less crowded at the park, I recommend traveling mid-January, February, or September. Families are focused on school and work during these off-peak months. For longer park hours and more entertainment options, however, plan your trip for March, April, May, June, July, October, November, December or early January. My family visited the first week of the New Year and The Wizarding World was even more magical all dressed up for the holidays. No matter when you go, youre sure to have a bewitching time.

Where To Buy Harry Potter Wands At Universal
Just like in the book and film, youll be able to purchase your first wand at Ollivanders Wand Shop in Diagon Alley. Guests will find a large selection of wands at this famous wizarding shop. There are two Ollivanders Wand Shops in Universal Orlando one on the Universal side and the other on the Islands of Adventure side. This is because guests who only purchase a ticket for one park and not the other, will not be able to experience the other side i.e. guests of Islands of Adventure will only be able to access Hogsmeade and everything that side of the park has to offer.
Guests who enter the theme park on the Universal Studios side will be able to access Diagon Alley by walking back and to the right. Look out for the Knight Bus, which is across the way from the entrance to Diagon Alley.
If you entered the park on the Islands of Adventure side, walk straight back and to your right to reach Hogsmede. If you have a park-to-park ticket and enter on the Islands of Adventure side, youll have to hop aboard the Hogwarts Express at the Hogsmeade station to get to Diagon Alley. The same applies if you enter the Universal side.
