‘harry Potter’ Has Grown With The ‘fantastic Beasts’ Movies
One of the amazing things about the Harry Potter franchise is that there are so many wild and wonderful things that have been touched on, but have yet to be expanded. Thankfully, the folks behind the Wizarding World have realized that fans would love to explore the rich lore that the franchise has to offer.
In 2016, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was released into theaters to much success. The story itself, as well as its author, Newt Scamander, had been referenced in the Harry Potter franchise, but this film actually gave us a taste of the expanded lore that fans had been calling for.
Starring Eddie Redmayne, the first film’s ability to gross over $800 million, gave way to a sequel, which also proved to be a financial success. Later this year, a third film will hit theaters, turning this extension of the franchise into a proper trilogy.
Watching the franchise grow has been a dream come true for fans, and just last year, reports began to surface of a new wrinkle being added to the franchise in the future.
Where To Watch The Harry Potter Movies Online
In the U.S., the eight movies spent most of 2021 moving between two streaming services: Peacock and HBO Max.
The reasons for that is due to previous deals Harry Potter studio Warner Bros made with NBCUniversal to give it the rights to air the films on its numerous TV channels.
Things became more complicated, however, when both services launched streaming services, so the two companies decided to simply alternate who got to stream the films.
Now, however, the companies seem to have come to a compromise that likely works better for the fans. As of December 2021, both HBO Max and Peacock are both streaming all eight films.
Which service offers the cheapest way to watch the films?
Technically, Peacock. Though viewers cannot watch the films of the streamer’s free tier, the service costs a third of what HBO Max costs$4.99 a month compared to $14.99.
Both services technically offer a seven-day free trial, though you will have to sign up to HBO Max through Hulu to get one for that streamer.
HBO Max may be the pricier option, but it is offering other Potter content in an attempt to lure fans away from the cheaper home of the films.
HBO Max is the service airing the reunion, and on January 1 is also launching game show Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses, which for some reason is hosted by Helen Mirren.

A live-action Harry Potter show is in the works at HBO Max, according to multiplereports. That probably doesn’t come as much of a surprise to those familiar with the property, most of whom have been predicting that Warner Bros. would start delving more into the Potter world for quite some time now. Still, it appears that the launch of a new streaming service has given the studio the extra motivation needed to start mining the franchise for even more spin-off potential.
The series is still in the early stages of development, so not many details have been revealed about it yet. With that being said, here’s everything we know about the Harry Potter series right now that you should also know.
When Will Secrets Of Dumbledore Be Streaming
HBO Max will be the first place that Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will be available to stream eventually, but the company hasn’t confirmed the date yet.
However, it’s most likely it will land on HBO Max on or about May 30. Warner Bros. has committed to giving its films at least 45 days in theaters exclusively. While it’s not obligated to put films on HBO Max as soon as those 45 days are over, that’s just what it did for its last big theatrical release, The Batman. Assuming Secrets of Dumbledore gets the same 45-day treatment, it would be available to stream on HBO Max at the end of May.

A Harry Potter TV show is reportedly in development at HBO Max, and while its still unknown exactly which story its going to cover, the books and movies already teased the perfect spinoff idea: the Marauders. In 1997, readers of all ages were introduced to the Wizarding World through J.K. Who Will Make An Appearance
The HBO Max teaser trailer reveals some of the other actors who will be joining Radcliffe, Grint and Watson for the reunion. In the brief clip, multiple stars from the series receive their invitations to the special and in one shot a woman, who is possibly Helena Bonham Carter , holds a copy of The Daily Prophet with the headline, Hogwarts Welcomes Back Alumni.
Robbie Coltrane also receives an invitation at The Coffee Shop, Chelsea and Matthew Lewis curiously inspects a letter sealed with the Hogwarts crest.
Later, Mark Williams looks out the window of the Hogwarts Express, the train the students board at the beginning of the films before they return to school.
The end of the clip confirms the other actors who will be featured in the special, including Tom Felton , Ralph Fiennes , Jason Isaacs , Gary Oldman , James Phelps , Olivers Phelps , Bonnie Wright , Alfred Enoch and Evanna Lynch .
After the reunion was announced, Watson, who was 11 when the first movie debuted, shared throwback photos on of her with Radcliffe and Grint and another with the cast and crew.

The rest of the cast joins soon after, including the other members of the trio, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint , as well as Robbie Coltrane , Matthew Lewis , Gary Oldman , Helena Bonham Carter , James and Oliver Phelps , Ralph Fiennes , and a slew of other cast members, in addition to producer David Heyman, and filmmakers Christopher Columbus, Alfonso Cuarón, Mike Newell, and David Yates. Its a full house or castle, really as the gang gets together again.

That Time Hermione And Ron Finally Kissed
Watson may have always been in love with Felton, but she was definitely not in love with Grint , especially when the time came for them to film Hermione and Rons first kiss for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. Kissing Rupert is one of the hardest things Ive ever had to do. It just felt wrong, so wrong on every level! Because Dan, Rupert, and I are so much siblings, Watson recalled.
In her group interview with the boys, Watson joked, Obviously, us kissing was the most horrifying thing either of us have ever had to go through. Apparently, the scene was very hard to get through for many reasons, the first being that they just couldnt get to the kiss. We just kept laughing, and I was just really scared we were never going to get it because we just couldnt take it seriously. As for Grint, his memory of the scene is a bit more fuzzy. I kind of think I blacked out. I just remember your face getting closer and closer to mine, he said.
The buildup to the scene on set didnt help, either. The special features footage of the exact moment director Yates told Watson and Grint they would be filming the kiss that week, and you can practically see the dread forming. Among those who made the kiss scene particularly nerve wracking: Radcliffe himself. I did not make this better because Ive been told significantly that I was just being an absolute dick about this and was like, Im gonna come on set and watch you guys kiss! he said.
