Even though the movies are currently streaming on HBO Max, from time to time you can also watch them on NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock. Because of a deal that dates back to 2016 , NBCUniversal has the TV and digital rights to the films until 2025. The Hollywood Reporter first reported in January 2020 that executives at WarnerMedia have held a series of meetings with writers to discuss broad ideas about bringing the Harry Potter franchise to television. The meetings were described as “early-stage exploratory” conversations.
Executives at both HBO and Warner Bros are reportedly attempting to find a writer and pitch for a Harry Potter live-action TV series for HBO Max. However, in a statement, HBO Max and Warner Bros said there are “no Harry Potter series in development at the studio or on the streaming platform”.
Variety has also reported that a Harry Potter series is in very early development at HBO Max. It claimed that rumours about a show set within the wizarding world have existed for some time, but it’s still unclear what the focus of the show would be or where it would fit into the Potter timeline.
The Harry Potter books are among the most popular of all time, having sold over 500 million copies worldwide. They were adapted into eight feature-length films, which have grossed nearly $8 billion worldwide, plus there are two Fantastic Beasts spinoff films, with a third due out in 2022.

Think you know everything there is to know about Harry Potter, well then youll be able to put that to the test with the new special quiz show, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses. The show will be a four-week competition between teams representing Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, all vying for the Tournament of Houses championship trophy Academy Award-winner Helen Mirren is set to host.
However, there will also be a companion digital quiz to the game show that will allow fans at home to test their knowledge, with three separate quizzes to launch on Nov. 26, Dec. 3 and Dec. 10.
In the US, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses will debut on Nov. 28 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, broadcasting simultaneously on TBS and Cartoon Network for U.S. audiences and continue for four weeks until Dec. 19. The game show is expected to debut on HBO Max too, but that wont be until 2022.

The cast of the Harry Potterfranchise, including Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, will soon be reunited for a 20th anniversary special, coming to HBO Max on January 1.
As that is eight days from December 24, now is the time to start a great rewatch of the eight movies if you want to have time to watch one a day from now until when the special airs.
Unfortunately for fans, the eight movies have a habit of shifting from one streaming service and landing on another with little to no notice.

This Coincides With The 20th Anniversary Of The Film Adaptation Of The Philosopher’s Stone
All eight of the main Harry Potter films are streaming on Crave.
This is a pretty notable get for the Bell-owned platform, as the massively popular franchise wasnt previously available on any streaming service in its entirety. Instead, the final four films were streaming, for a time, on Netflix, with the first four unavailable due to territorial licensing.
Crave has gotten all eight movies to coincide with the 20th anniversary of The Philosophers Stone, which opened in North American theatres on November 16th, 2001.
