In the finalmovie, Harry, Ron and Hermione break into Bellatrixs vault at Gringotts with the help of Griphook the goblin. There, they steal Helga Hufflepuffs cup, which is another Horcrux, but Griphook steals the Sword of Gryffindor from Harry and abandons them, forcing the trio to escape on the bank’s guardian dragon.
Harry realises there must be a Horcrux connected to Rowena Ravenclaw within Hogwarts, and they head back to school via a hidden passage in Hogsmeade. Snape learns of Harrys return but flees when Professor McGonagall challenges him to a duel. She gathers the student body for a final battle against Voldemorts forces.
Harry retrieves Rowena Ravenclaws diadem and returns to the Chamber of Secrets to get another basilisk fang so he can destroy it along with Helga’ cup. While Voldemorts army attacks the school, Harry sees into the Dark Lords mind and realises that his pet snake, Nagini, is the final Horcrux.
The trio witness Voldemort explaining to Snape why he cannot use the Elder Wand until Snape is dead. Nagini fatally injures Snape, who tells Harry to take his tears to the Pensieve before dying. When Harry reads the memories held within, Harry learns that Snape was protecting Harry as he loved his mother, Lily.

Originally published as a series of seven fantasy novels by author, J. K. Rowling, the Harry Potter books were first adapted for the big screen in 2001. The initial entry was Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone which introduced cinemagoers to Harry, his best friends Ron and Hermione, and the school they attend Hogwarts, a school for witchcraft and wizardry.
That opening entry was a huge hit with audiences and was quickly followed in 2002 with the first sequel, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Once again, the movie was a hit and the third entry arrived in 2004.
Further films were produced, each adapting the next book in the series as one feature-length story. That was until Warner Bros. Pictures reached the final book in the series.

There are no complicated interweaving timelines to deal with if you watch the Potter movies in release date order its two distinct series, with an incomplete set of prequels following on from the parent franchise. That means theres no need to introduce any kind of ‘Machete Order’ yet though if we get some massive revelation in Fantastic Beasts 3, 4 and 5, that may change. Fantastic Beasts 3 starts shooting early in 2020, ahead of a 2021 release.
Its also interesting to note that there are more Harry Potter movies than there are books, with seventh instalment The Deathly Hallows split into two parts because there was so much story to fit in. Were sure the extra box office didnt hurt either
