To re-create such a magical mystical world from the books into the film took a lot of effort and thousands of artists, technicians, interior & fashion designers, set designers and more! So being the Harry Potter buff that I am, visiting the studio where most of the magic was created for the screen was a dream. So read on below where I talk about my memorable visit to the Warner Bros. Studio London.
Once your trip tickets etc. are booked and it is confirmed that you are going to London, start looking up tickets on the official website of Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, as sometimes especially during peak tourist months, tickets sell out months in advance.
Do book only once you are certain that you are going to travel because tickets are non-refundable
If you are not able to get a ticket from their website or wish to wait last minute to buy the same only once you are traveling to be sure, check out for reliable & trustworthy tours and travel agencies who sell a package i.e. you not only purchase an entry ticket from them, but they also bundle in a pickup and drop service from some main bus stations in London. I personally did not want to go for this as the price almost increases per person by around 30 – 50% hence I took the risk of booking in advance on the official website.

Know Before You Book
- Entry to the tour is complimentary for children 4 and younger, but transportation charges apply for children ages 34 because they will be occupying a seat. Children 2 and younger are complimentary. Please note if the wrong ticket type is selected you will not be allowed to enter the Studio.
- Children 15 and younger must be accompanied by an adult while on or in the vicinity of the tour.
- A variety of special effects may be used in certain areas within the tour.
- The whole experience takes approximately 7 hours, including transportation time and a 4-hour tour of the studio.
- Check-in is 15 minutes prior to the booked tour start time.
- Tour departs at Victoria Coach Station, Gate 19 and Gate 0 .

Now, Im not going to lie trying to get your hands on the Harry Potter studio tickets is like trying to conjure a genuine smile from Professor Umbrige. As in, it will take all of your wits and whiles to make it happen. Unlike trying to coax a smile from Umbridge though, it will be totally worth the effort.
First of all, let me be clear. You have to buy tickets in advance there will be no turning up on the day and hoping to strike lucky.
That shizz just doesnt fly .
So, you need to plan your trip in advance. Preferably as far in advance as you possibly can.
Tickets for the Warner Brothers Harry Potter tour sell like hotcakes and months ahead.
Dont be all blasé like me, hopping onto the website and thinking youll pick one up for the next day. I was totally sucker punched when I saw that tickets were pretty much booked out for two months in advance. Thats not a typo and yes youre reading it right. Two months.
Now, there are a couple of workarounds, which I am going to go into more detail below but that is the standard position.
So if youre thinking about taking a trip to London and you want to get a ticket, do it the moment you book your flights. I only wish I were joking.

- Mercure London one of the closest hotels to the actual studios, this would be a good option if you are driving and want to be as close as possible
- Holiday Inn Express London right next to Watford Junction, this mid-range and well reviewed property is convenient for both trains to London, and for the studio shuttle
- Jurys Inn London Watford another great mid-range option, just a short walk from Watford Junction train station
Arriving From The M25
Clockwise: Exit the M25 at Junction 19. At the Hunton Bridge roundabout take the second exit onto the A41 and move into the left hand lane for the A405 . Take the left hand fork ahead and then take the first exit at the roundabout into the Studio Tour.
Anti-Clockwise: Exit the M25 at Junction 20 and head south east on the A41 towards London . Keep in the left hand lane at the Hunton Bridge roundabout. Move into the left hand lane for the A405 . Take the left hand fork ahead and then take the first exit at the roundabout into the Studio Tour.

The Forbidden Forest And The Ministry Of Magic
The Ministry of Magic is one of the larger sets created for the films, used for scenes involving hundreds of cast members and extras. Many of these were actually crew members dressed up in cloaks, beards and hats.
The Forbidden Forest set was recreated for the Studios. If youre brave enough, take the path that leads to the lair of the terrifying Aragog who lies in wait amongst the trees. Arachnophobes or small children may want to take one of the safer, less scary routes through the forest.
What To Expect On The Warner Bros Studio Tour The Making Of Harry Potter
Visitors are welcomed to the experience by a video featuring Daniel Radcliff, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. While this is a Harry Potter experience, it is important to note that the Harry Potter Studio Tour is not a theme park.
Visitors are immersed in the making of the Harry Potter universe. They see how the movies came together through exhibits and interactive experiences. They get to see, first-hand, how some of the magic is made. Throughout the tour, guests enjoy simulations and re-creations of these magical experiences. With movie sets and costumes displayed, visitors have a chance to imagine what went on behind the scenes. The animatronics and detailed sets immerse visitors in the story as they see how it unfolds from page to screen.
You will need to enter the tour at your designated time, but once inside you can take as long as you want. It isnt a guided touryou walk and wander on your own. There are staff members everywhere, though. This style of tour meant that we could spend more time on the exhibits that caught our eyes without feeling rushed.

It is located within Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden, in Watford, in southwest Hertfordshire, and houses a permanent exhibit of authentic costumes, props and sets utilised in the production of the Harry Potter films, as well as behind-the-scenes production of visual effects. The tour is contained in Soundstages J and K, which were specially built for the attraction, and is separate from the studio’s actual production facilities.
