For as long as Lottie Fiske can remember, the only people who seem to care about her have been her best friend, Eliot, and the mysterious letter-writer who sends her birthday gifts. But now strange things and people are arriving on the island Lottie calls home, and Eliot’s getting sicker, with a disease the doctors have given up trying to cure. Lottie is helpless, useless, powerless. And then a door opens in the apple tree. A door to another world – a world of magic both treacherous and beautiful – where Lottie seeks a cure for the incurable, a use for the useless, and protection against the pain of loss.
Celebrities Are Reading The First Book Of The Harry Potter Series Here’s How You Can Listen Along
Is there any book series as uniquely and universally beloved as Harry Potter? We dont think so. Across all age ranges and even around the world, Potterheads bond over their shared enjoyment of that fantastical worldand all the spectacular characters and creatures that populate it.
Perhaps its no surprise, then, that many have turned to the Wizarding World as an escape from current events. For those whove been sorted into their house and know the correct pronunciation of wingardium leviosa, we have good news: You can now listen to Daniel Radcliffe read the first chapter of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone.

Lend Them From The Library
If you have a library card, you can also lend the Harry Potter book series for free from your local library in three formats: physical books, digital books, and audiobooks.
Digital books and audiobooks are available via the Overdrive and Libby apps, which most libraries seem to have at this point in time. However, whether you attempt to loan physical books from the library, or obtain them via the Overdrive and Libby apps, you may have to place a hold and wait in line for the books to become available to you.
In that case, you may also want to check if your library offers the Hoopla app, by which you can lend up to four digital books per month and read ebooks or listen to audiobooks from a large catalog immediately — without having to wait for your turn in a “hold” line. Hoopla does, in fact, have the Harry Potter book series in its catalog. I listened to one of the books myself via this app!
If your library does not have Hoopla, or even if you are struggling to obtain the books otherwise from your own local library, you may need to get creative in order to get the Harry Potter books free from the library.
For example, where I live, the Philadelphia library is a much larger library with more resources than many other rural libraries in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. And the Philadelphia library allows residents of the entire Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to obtain a library card!

The Harry Potter Series: Ages And Stages
The first three Harry Potter books are great to read aloud to kids aged from about six or seven up. Certainly most children – both boys and girls – will love them from the age of eight.
If your eight-year-old is a fairly capable reader, he or she will probably be able to read the first three books independently. Remember though, that it can be fun to read aloud to older children and the Harry Potter books are great for this purpose because most adults enjoy the stories too.
The last four books are long and quite complex. Certainly many ten-year-olds will be quite capable of reading them but again, I think they’re great for reading aloud to kids aged up to about eleven.
Most teens will enjoy reading the books and in fact the seventh and final book in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is probably not suitable for readers under about thirteen. And if your teen does want to read the whole series, there are editions with more adult-looking covers so they’re not embarrassed to be seen reading what they probably think of as kids’ books.
The seven books in the Harry Potter series, in order, are:

The Harry Potter Films
The Harry Potter books have been made into eight films which were released between 2001 and 2011.
The films star English actors Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint in the leading roles of Harry Potter and his best friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley.
The films are terrific for adults and for children although, as with the books, they get progressively darker and more scary with more adult themes as you progress through the series. With that in mind, it can be a good idea to watch them yourself before you introduce your younger children to them.

What Is Fan Fiction
Fan fiction is any fictional story that builds upon another authors work. Typically, amateur writers and fans of the original intellectual property write fan fiction.
The literary genre is unique. It doesnt have predefined guidelines regarding approach, story length, character development, writing style, etc.
Communities of fans, otherwise known as fandoms, often contribute fan fiction to fulfill their own desires about character development, relationships, and plots. Some explore never-before-told storylines, create new ideas, and continue to keep various franchises and universes alive.
With little original J.K. Rowling content on the horizon to continue the Harry Potter wizarding world franchise, fan fiction is the perfect way for fans to get stories that revolve around their favorite characters.
