Global Experience Specialists Inc Exhibition

Harry Potter: The Exhibition official promotional poster for the launch of the GES Exhibition in 2009

The Exhibition started with the sorting of three members from the tour group, where the Sorting Hat was placed on their head and “told” them their house. The guide then opened the doors to a small room to watch a brief film about the Exhibition and the Harry Potter fan base. After the film, the doors at the front of the room opened into a misty room with multiple portraits on the wall that moved and talked like the portraits in the hallways of Hogwarts.

The following room was similar to the Gryffindorcommon room, with many props, including the beds used by Harry and Ron in the films on display. The boys’ school robes were also in this room next to their beds on mannequins. Many other props filled the room with the beds including their Muggle clothes, the glasses, the golden egg, and their wands. The next room led to the classrooms of Hogwarts. There was a large section of Slughorn’s classroom with his robes and multiple potions ingredients behind him, along with the potions books in a case. There was also a large section of Gilderoy Lockhart‘s classroom from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. It had his robes and a full collection of his books.

The murder victim knew too muchand its up to you to discover what it was that drove one of four suspects to commit murder.

You dont need to know anything about the museum or its art to triumph: all you need is a sharp mind and comfy shoes.

Harry Potter Hunt Through The Metropolitan Museum Of Art

Join us on an ART SMART-created magical hunt-style private tour that echoes the characters, settings, and enchanted objects from the Harry Potter stories and the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play.

    Along the way well

    • track down animals similar to those in the Forbidden Forest
    • spot creatures that could compete in the Triwizard Tournament
    • hunt for Hedwig-like owls and Norbert-like dragons
    • come across knights like those in the Chessboard Chamber
    • encounter pieces that could be part of the Floo Network
    • get a wand to point out what we find

How do you get a childs attention in a Greek art gallery? Well, you can start by talking about such creatures as griffins, basilisks, or the three-headed protective dog named Cerberus. Make the connection with Fluffy, a guard dog at Hogwarts, and other Harry Potter characters. And faster than you can say Sorcerers Stone, voilà the children are spellbound.

Such moments are typical during an ART SMART Adventure, where museum tours are anything but typical. We may use pop culture to help cast our spell, but thats just a small part of the magic in these private tours through New Yorks museums. Our family tours bring art to children and teens in fresh, creative ways. They spark intriguing and original questions and conversations, as children make the connections between age-old art and whats happening in their own lives. This tour, like all of our family adventures, are designed for parents and kids to explore together.

If A Trivia Quiz And A Scavenger Hunt Had A Baby

it would look a lot like this unusual game. Heres how it works: each question challenges your team to answer a trivia questionabout movies, music, history, sports, science, books, and moreand that answer becomes a crucial clue to answering a question about an object on display. If you like pub quizzes, youll love this hunt.

How Might Your Knowledge Come In Handy

Warner Bros. announces arrival of Slytherin common room
    • Recalling one of Lady Gagas hit songs could help you figure out whats going on in a painting of a sneaky card game
    • Remembering how many stars are in a famous dipper can help you locate a goddess getting a constellation prize
    • Knowing the Freudian theory that Woody Allen said shouldnt be applied just to women can help you spot the, um, shortcomings of a Roman statue

You can use your smartphone if you get stuck, but keep in mind that teams that get the answers faster will get more questions and score more points.

You Might Be Challenged To Track Down

    • A Snape-like potions master
    • Centaurs and unicorns whod be at home in the Forbidden Forest

    • Cloaked and masked figures as terrifying as any Death Eater or Dementor

Plus, owls and dragons, fierce knights in armor, a powerful sorceress, and much more.

Both wizards and muggles can play and enjoy this game. The hunt is not an addition to or variation on Harrys adventures instead, references to the books provide a surprising bridge to many strange and wonderful works of art. Its a unique way to discoveror rediscoverthe National Gallery.

Warning: This Isnt Your Ordinary Tour

And thank goodness for that because its much, much better. Instead of just getting a whirlwind tour of this amazing museum, youll also get a team-building experience that will make you laugh, think, and bond with your group. Youll follow a trail of clues though the galleries and tackle tricky, entertaining questions about the surprising art you find.

Watch Your Back: Theres A Killer On The Loose

and its up to your team to stop him! How? By playing the devilishly tricky scavenger hunt at the National Gallery of Art that the murderer created. When completed, youll learn who he is, which weapon he used, and where he hid the body. He sent the hunt to the police and dared them to try and solve it. Now they need your help.

Youll be supplied with a list of suspects, weapons, and places. By following the trail of clues and answering clever questions, youll narrow down the list and provide the police with the evidence they need to catch and convict the killer. Can you figure out who dunnit?

No knowledge of the museum or art is necessary. You just need to pay attention to the details and work well with your team.

We also offer a Kids Edition of this hunt. Its a great game for introducing younger audiences to art and the National Gallery, whether youre planning a birthday party, a scout or camp outing, or a school field trip. Suitable for ages 10 and up.
