Its been well over a year since we last heard word of Harry Potter-themed open world RPG Hogwarts Legacy, but developer Avalanche Software had promised updates in 2022. That information could end up being a delay, as word has it the title has been stupefied behind-the-scenes. Ex-IGN scribe and Sacred Symbols host Colin Moriarty revealed on his latest PlayStation podcast that the game isn’t coming out this year and it’s in some sort of trouble.
Moriarty is obviously well-connected, but its always worth treating rumours like this with an ounce of scepticism. Nevertheless, its not the hardest story to believe: the long-awaited title was originally slated to release in 2021, before it disappeared for the entire year. As mentioned above, the developer did promise to remove the releases invisibility cloak over the coming months, but even if it is ready to show a little more, that doesnt necessarily dispel this report.
Sony published a list of upcoming 2022 titles overnight, with Hogwarts Legacy being a notable omission. Itd be a shame if this project got stuck in development hell, because weve been waiting for a full-scale Harry Potter RPG for practically our entire adult lives, and this seemed like a dream game when it was first revealed. Heres hoping either the speculation is inaccurate, or Avalanche Software can steady its Nimbus broom soon.
Hogwarts Mystery Push Notifications Experience
All of the retention features above are more or less subtle. The most direct retention strategy the game uses are push notifications.
The role of push notifications is simple to bring players back to the game. For this to actually happen, push notifications should be relevant, timely, and enticing.
If you do just one thing wrong they can chase players away.
Hogwarts Mystery sure doesnt hold back in sending out push notifications. After finishing my first session, it took minutes until I got the first push notification. It was an Energy full notification.
After I didnt respond to it, the second one was there to tell me that Hogwarts Misses You. This was purely a reminder to come back.
Later on, resource-related notifications popped up regularly.
The notifications mostly followed the storyline. The content of these notifications was pretty enticing, such as: Rowan is ready for you, or Professor McGOnagall expects perfect attendance.
Even though they come often, the notifications are not too aggressive. For example, none of the notifications featured in-app purchase offers.

What Quidditch Did Right
I admire J.K. Rowlings work, and for all the fact that Quidditch contains several game-breaking attributes, it does contain its triumphs. The high-speed elements are thrilling, the varied uniforms look sweet, and its a sport where girls often outplay guys due to their slim figures allowing faster flying.
J.K. Rowling crafted a magical world filled with several details, and the fact that we got an entire, mostly fleshed-out sport in the package is pretty impressive. How Does The Game Unfold
The game starts with you supplying important details, like your name and getting to design your character, so that you can go to Hogwarts. The early stages of the game introduce you to a new companion for your adventure in Diagon Alley, visiting important shops to get your essential supplies, followed by a trip on the Hogwarts Express.
As the game progresses, you learn about some of the plot lines – from an over-arching story – to smaller task and mysteries you’ll encounter along way. As you progress through the game, you’ll attend lessons and learn skills, you’ll have the option to freely explore the school, attend after-school clubs and create a game experience that’s unique to you.
In the short time that we spent playing the game we got to explore the Gryffindor common room and attend some lessons, learning how to cast the lumos spell, which is all good fun and technically not difficult.
You’ll get to play through years 1-7 at Hogwarts and yes, you get to be sorted into your house – and if you’ve not already discovered your house on Pottermore, then that’s treat for fans too.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is the first game in which players can create their own character and experience life as a Hogwarts student. The game will launch under Portkey Games, from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, the games label dedicated to creating new Wizarding World mobile and video game experiences that place the player at the centre of their own adventure, inspired by J.K. Rowlings original stories.
How Much Does Hogwarts Mystery Cost
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is free to play and you’ll be able to play the entire game without having to pay anything, but there will be in-app purchases available. The reward system includes earning gems which can be exchanged for accessories – and you’ll be able to spend real money to boost the gems to exchange for items, but that’s not necessary for game progress.

Is Quidditch A Real Sport
Yes and no. It depends on how you define quidditch and how you define sport.
In the Harry Potter universe, quidditch is a game played by wizards and witches. Each team consists of seven players, each flying on a broomstick. Players attempt to throw soccer-ball-size balls, called quaffles, through three large hoop goals at either end of the pitch a goal is worth 10 points. One player on each team is designated the seeker, and it is his or her job to capture the golden snitch, a golden winged ball the size of a walnut that zips around the playing field of its own volition. The team that catches the snitch earns 150 points, which, because each match goes to 150, generally ends the game.
In the nonfiction universe, however, we don’t have flying brooms or snitches, so folks who really want to play quidditch have improvised a version of the game called muggle quidditch. The rules of this game vary from league to league yes, there are leagues but they generally follow the same rules as the fictional game. There are a few differences, though. Quaffles are often replaced with dodge balls and the goals are made of hula hoops mounted on PVC pipes. The snitch is usually a neutral player, dressed in gold, who enters the field of play every so often and runs around trying to avoid being tagged by either team’s seeker. Oh, and no flying, but the players must straddle a broom as they scamper around.
