Why Was Harry Potter The Chosen One?

On 25 January 2021, a live action television series was reported to have been in early development at HBO Max. Though it was noted that the series has “complicated rights issues”, due to a seven-year rights deal with Warner Bros. Domestic TV Distribution that included U.S. broadcast, cable and streaming rights to the franchise, which ends in April 2025.

They Are Not Entirely Unalike

While Newt and Harry might have been very different people, we think they would have got along quite nicely if they were around at the same point. For starters, Harry and Newt both protected the underdog no matter what. For Newt, it was his magical creatures and at times Jacob, while Harry was Hagrids fiercest supporter whenever he got a little too Hagrid about any of his creatures.

The pair also had the support of Dumbledore, who was clearly an excellent judge of character to trust them both, despite the level of mischief they each got up to at Hogwarts. Although were not sure why Newt was expelled , its clear that both he and Harry barely toed the line during their time at Hogwarts. We’re actually still pretty surprised that Harry was never given the boot, to be honest!

They Respect Each Other

The books and the movies are littered with small examples that show just how highly the two think of each other. Can you find at least even half of those, where Hermione expresses her deep admiration of Ron? We didn’t think so. It’s really quite obvious that Hermione has more respect for Harry, and Harry admires her just as much – more than either of them do with Ron. Again, Ron fans, we’re not hating, just being honest. Harry always radiated pride for Hermione’s brilliance and her achievements, and she always praised him for being him. Not to mention how attentive she was to his words and how much of them she memorized.

Completion Of The Series

In December 2005, Rowling stated on her web site, “2006 will be the year when I write the final book in the Harry Potter series.” Updates then followed in her online diary chronicling the progress of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, with the release date of 21 July 2007. The book itself was finished on 11 January 2007 in the Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh, where she scrawled a message on the back of a bust of Hermes. It read: “J. K. Rowling finished writing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in this room on 11 January 2007.”

Rowling herself has stated that the last chapter of the final book was completed “in something like 1990”. In June 2006, Rowling, on an appearance on the British talk show Richard & Judy, announced that the chapter had been modified as one character “got a reprieve” and two others who previously survived the story had in fact been killed. On 28 March 2007, the cover art for the Bloomsbury Adult and Child versions and the Scholastic version were released.

In September 2012, Rowling mentioned in an interview that she might go back to make a “director’s cut” of two of the existing Harry Potter books.

Would Neville Still Have Been Friends With Harry Ron And Hermione And Would They Have All Been Friends

Pin by Mariaâ¡ï¸?ð³ on Harry Potter

Lets say it did, and Lord Voldemort was still thwarted, and it was poor Neville who lost his parents, not Harry. Unlike Harry, Neville wouldve still grown up knowing he was a wizard, as presumably his grandmother Augusta wouldve still taken care of him.

And maybe we can also assume Neville wouldve still been the same nervous, clumsy child if he was still brought up by his strict, often chiding, grandmother. And lets assume he was still in Gryffindor. What is not clear is how Harrys life wouldve been different, and how that wouldve dictated events.

Beyond that, what would Harrys Hogwarts experience have been like? Would he still have pursued the same interests, still joined the Gryffindor Quidditch team? Still fallen for Ginny? Malfoy wouldnt have bothered him so much without his fame, surely. And would he still have been friends with Ron and Hermione? Harrys parents certainly knew the Weasleys, at any rate. But either way, we imagine Harry and Neville wouldve both still been in Gryffindor, and hence wouldve become friends through their house. And we simply cant imagine a world where Harry and Ron dont befriend each other eventually. And no matter what timeline of events the defiant Hermione would always team up with Neville to find his lost toad, Trevor. So those friendships may have found a way…

How Would Neville Have Dealt With Harrys Hogwarts Adventures

Finding the Philosophers Stone… Discovering the mysteries of the Chamber of Secrets… Taking part in the Triwizard Tournament… It’s a lot. And in his younger years, lovely Neville was definitely not the first Hogwarts student that leapt to mind when it came to saving the castle from certain peril, or indeed, dodging Hungarian Horntails. He could barely keep Trevor under control, let alone a giant, scaly dragon.

Neville only truly came into his own when Harry, Ron and Hermione started up Dumbledores Army in their fifth year. And its not likely Harry wouldve started up Dumbledores Army if hed been living a considerably calmer Hogwarts life, not having had to learn extra defensive spells, not having had to grow up far quicker than usual with the looming threat of a Dark wizard on his back. But its possible Umbridge wouldve still been around, and some sort of alliance wouldve still been needed. Maybe Hermione, who we can definitely still see being friends with Neville, wouldve started it up with Neville in tow?

In fact, with all of the challenges Harry faced at Hogwarts and beyond, he had his friends to help him. We can only imagine Neville would’ve got the same support network.

Why Is Harry Potter So Popular Even After All These Years

The Harry Potter franchise was first released almost a quarter of a century ago and by the time the last movie was released, the series became so popular that the posters for the final movie didnt even feature the name of the movie. But how is the franchise still so popular, almost ten years after the release of the final movie of the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2?

Why Is Harry Potter So Popular

Given that 24 years have passed since the first book was published and the first movie was released 20 years ago many people wonder how the franchise is still as popular as it was during its prime.

It is a book series that eventually grew into a film franchise that shaped a generation. A story set in a magical world that teaches great values like friendship, humility, and bravery.

It was written in a way that allowed anyone to imagine themselves in the world and additional releases made that even more possible and elevated the reliability of the series to a level that similar franchises simply cant reach.

The series itself brought together an amazing community centered around the franchise and for a good reason. This seemingly child aimed series shone a light on some surprisingly dark themes such as mental health, LGBT visibility, and other real-world questions.

The books are well written and were most Millennials introduction to the reading and the movies created a great adaptation of the series, partially due to amazing scripts but mostly because of the talented cast who brought the characters to life.

Why Harry Potter Was The Chosen One

For neither can live while the other survives the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies

This extract from Order of the Phoenix outlines that the Chosen One will be born in July. Throughout the story so far we had always assumed it was Harry, however Dumbledore said that The other was Neville Longbottom. This clearly shows that Neville could have also been the Chosen One.

The reason to why Harry Potter became the Chosen One is that Voldemort had chosen him instead of Neville that night many years ago. If he had chosen Neville, then it may be the case that Neville Longbottom would have been the Chosen One. Neville had possessed extraordinary abilities . Initially we would not have imagined Neville joining Dumbledores Army, however he does and he even eventually becomes confident with magic. Along with this he had the same characteristics Harry did by showing extraordinary bravery when he helped join Harry to save Sirius Black at the Ministry of Magic. Also at the Ministry, Neville had a prophecy orb, however he later smashed it not knowing the content within.

They both had parents in the Order, they both eventually had the same bravery and magical ability, however it was evidently Voldemorts choosing that led to Harry becoming the Chosen One.

Times Neville Proved He Could Have Been The Chosen One

Neville Longbottom is one of the most beloved characters in the Harry Potter series, and for good reason. Neville, who shared a birthday close to Harry Potter’s birthday, could have easily been the Chosen One that the prophecy about Voldemort’s demise spoke of. However, Voldemort made the prophecy come true when he attacked Harry’s family and attempted to kill baby Harry.

However, many times Neville proved that he easily could have been the Chosen One as well. His bravery and courage were commendable in the series, which is why he is so loved. Keep reading to see 10 times he proved himself as capable of being the Chosen One after all.

As The Seventh Month Dies

Harry Potter

In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry is faced with a shocking revelation: his fate with Lord Voldemort was always sealed. It was told in a prophecy when he was just a baby.

The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies Sybill Trelawney, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

In one of Professor Trelawneys rare prophecies that actually came to pass, she spoke of the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord, with a specific description of who that could be. Although the prophecy was told to Albus Dumbledore, quite unexpectedly in a pub no less, Severus Snape overheard it, relayed the information back to Lord Voldemort, who, in turn, interpreted this mysterious future assassin to be Lily and James Potters child. However, as Dumbledore explains to Harry, it could have meant another. Neville Longbottom, Harrys classmate, was also born at the end of July, and also born to parents who had thrice defied Lord Voldemort.

Nonetheless, Voldemort picked Harry for the reasons Dumbledore theorises here.

Why Is Harry Potter So Addictive

The story was written in a way that allowed anyone to immerse themselves into the Harry Potter universe and imagine themselves as a part of the story.

The involvement in the story was amplified even more once Pottermore was created. The website allowed the fans to get even deeper into the universe by allowing them to get sorted into the Hogwarts house, to get their own Patronus, and even their own wands.

Most of the fans are extremely involved with the universe and that in combination with J. K. Rowlings constant additions to the franchise, whether it is through her interviews or her overactive Twitter account.

This intervenes with how the franchise and the fandom surrounding it normally coexist. Usually, the fandom starts with few fans and the number grows as the franchise grows bigger, but once the franchise comes to closure the fandom will slowly die out due to the lack of content.

A great example of how content affects the life of a fandom and the fans engagement is the Star Wars franchise that got revived after years of stagnation once the sequel trilogy was announced.

Because there is a new spin-off series containing 5 movies that are currently being released and J. K. Rowling constantly adds new information about different characters and what happened to them after the series closure the fans had a constant stream of information and content which allowed them to stay invested in the franchise.

Becoming Harry Potter: The Chosen One #mnbhp

But, sir, said Harry, making valiant efforts not to sound argumentative, it all comes to the same thing, doesnt it? Ive got to try and kill him, or

Got to? said Dumbledore. Of course youve got to! But not because of the prophecy! Because you, yourself, will never rest until youve tried! We both know it! Imagine, please, just for a moment, that you had never heard that prophecy! How would you feel about Voldemort now? Think!

Harry watched Dumbledore striding up and down in front of him, and thought. He thought of his mother, his father, and Sirius. He thought of Cedric Diggory. He thought of all the terrible deeds he knew Lord Voldemort had done. A flame seemed to leap inside his chest, searing his throat.

Id want him finished, said Harry quietly. And Id want to do it.

In Harrys sixth year, he is labeled The Chosen One because of a prophecy made when he was a baby. This prophecy marks him as the one to destroy Voldemort, but Dumbledore tells Harry that the prophecy doesnt mean he has to do anything. Voldemort went after Harry because of the prophecy, but Harry chooses to go after Voldemort because that is what he would do whether or not he ever heard the prophecy. The prophecy doesnt make Harry The Chosen One, Harry makes Harry The Chosen One.

How The Harry Potter Series Would Have Been Different If Neville Had Been The Chosen One

Harry Potter scholars have spent countless hours of their busy Harry Potter academic schedules researching what it would have been like if the *other* baby born in July of 1980 had been the prophesied Chosen One, instead of Harry Potter.

Imagine an alternate universe in which Neville Longbottoms nursery was invaded one hot summers night by Voldey in which *Neville* possessed a power incomprehensible to Tom Riddle in which Snape spent eight books hissing Longgg. Bottommmm. disparagingly at Neville and his army of misfits instead of at Harry. Neville may have one of the more absurd last names within the Harry Potter universe, but is that any indication of his leadership capabilities? Of course not. But, yeah, maybe. In any case, I still believe dear Neville could have muddled along just as well as the hapless Harry if he had been The Chosen One. Heres what else would have been different

If Neville Had Been the Chosen One, he still would have been raised by his horrid grandmother because, in case anyone forgot, Neville also lost his parents. And maybe people would have told him that he had his mothers eyes every once in awhile, instead of Harry being the only one who was allowed to be sad about being orphaned as a baby.

If Neville Had Been the Chosen One, he would have grown up in the Wizarding World with everyone knowing his name. This might have improved his confidence a smidge.
