Are The Harry Potter Movies On Peacock Or Hbo Max

Wait, didn’t Peacock have the Harry Potter movies? Or was it HBO Max? Yes, they have swapped ownership of the franchise since they both launched. Currently , both services are streaming all Harry Potter movies.

HBO Max streamed the Harry Potter movies when it launched in summer 2020. See, WarnerMedia owns the Harry Potter film franchise. However, the corporation sold the broadcast and cable rights to NBCUniversal, which owns Peacock. But WarnerMedia borrowed them back likely for a hefty fee so that its new streaming service could launch with some big titles.

Then, the Harry Potter movies moved back to Peacock, where they streamed on and off through 2021. They returned to HBO Max over the summer. In October, both streamers have them.

And then who knows what will happen in 2025, when NBCUniversal’s TV rights lapse.

As writer Jess Mason joked on , “Harry Potter is like the child of a divorce where the parents are Universal and Warner Bros and the franchise just keeps being pulled to different homes.”

So many streaming services, all fighting over the same valuable IP.

In case you needed a reminder, there are seven books in the Harry Potter series: one for each academic year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. But, of course, there are eight instalments in the film franchise. The filmmakers wisely decidedly to split the final book into two volumes: The Deathly Hallows, Parts 1 and 2. The films obviously belong to Warner Bros., but the theme park attractions belongs to Universal Studios. Anyway, to mark the occasion, and since Ive never sat and done this before, I have used science, math and dark magic to create the the official, 104% accurate ranking of all eight Harry Potter movies. I like all of these films to various degrees, but, as always, this list will not be your list, because what fun would that be?

Which streaming service has Harry Potter movies? There are basically two: Peacock and HBO Max subscribers can stream the eight main Harry Potter movies on demand. The two prequel films are not currently available on any subscription streaming service, but all of the movies are available to rent or purchase on Amazon, iTunes, YouTube, and other online movie rental services.

How To Watch Harry Potter Movies In Order

Everyone came into the Wizarding World through the Harry Potter books and movies, which introduced us to a gifted 11-year-old, his friends Ron and Hermione, and their hallowed school of magic, Hogwarts. Watching the Harry Potter movies in order, seeing the story unfold chronologically in-universe, used to be as easy as finding the one where Daniel Radcliffe looks youngest and starting from there.

But the series has expanded now with the Fantastic Beasts movies, set some 70 years before The Sorcerers Stone. So to watch the Harry Potter movies in order, your journey now begins with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, set in 1926 and starring Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scarmander. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is set in 1927. The third Fantastic Beasts intends to release July 2022, with two more movies to close out the Scarmander and Grindelwald saga.

Then the story of Harry himself begins, starting with Sorcerers Stone and concluding in the second-part of The Deathly Hallows, for eight Certified Fresh movies in a row. Top 10 Best Harry Potter Movies

1Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

This is definitely one of my favourites so far, the acting and the cinematography is what made it so good. Also liked the end part of the film with Sirius Black and how it revealed that he wasn’t a bad guy at all.Only complaint is probably the time/travelling scene which didn’t make a lot of sense to me.

Best story. Best pacing. Best cinematography. Gary Oldman as Sirius Black was a welcome addition to the cast. This movie benefitted from being a smaller personal story instead of raising the stakes like the Chamber of Secrets did. Alfonso Cuaron’s direction made this third installment in the series it’s own character. The three main characters really came out in this story as their acting improved. It’s probably the movie that respected its source material more than all the others.

The year 2004 produced some of my favorite movies of all time. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is one of them. This movie took 75 steps up from the original two by making it a more darker but more humorous sequel. The directing was better, the acting was better, the story was better, hell, even the Uncle Vernon scenes were better. Not only is this the best Harry Potter film, but one of the best films ever.

Since September 1, all eight of the Harry Potter movies are available to stream on HBO Max in the US which is hardly surprising, seeing as the Warner Bros-owned streaming platform will consider the hit franchise as an excellent way to attract new subscribers. The movies were previously available via the Peacock service, though, and you can also rent or buy the series on services like Amazon.

In the UK, you can’t currently stream the Harry Potter movies, but you can rent or buy them on Amazon, iTunes and more. HBO Max is expected to launch on British shores soon, but we’re unsure when that’ll be The complete Harry Potter series is also available on Blu-Ray.

Meanwhile, the two Fantastic Beasts movies aren’t currently streaming in the US or the UK.

The good news is that were going to follow the spiders together, which might make it a little less terrifying, but please keep your wand at the ready. Theres a simple reason why trying to rank the best Harry Potter movies is like a particularly fiendish O.W.L. Its easy to forget but due to how long it took to finish the series in film form, multiple generations of wizards literally grew up with these movies. Throw in the latest two Fantastic Beasts entries and these are formative film memories were playing with here, a magic that even Dumbledore himself would surely warn us against trying to fully understand.
