There Was Some Bad Blood Between Helena Bonham Carter And Emma Thompson

In the early ’90s, Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh were a heavy-hitting power couple. The two split after six years of marriage when Thompson learned that Branagh and Helena Bonham Carter were having an affair.

Apparently, the two began their affair on the set of; Mary Shelleys 1994;Frankenstein Thompson and Branagh divorced the following year.

While there was originally some bad blood between the two actresses, Thompson shared that the two had made; peace years and years ago, so it would be safe to assume that there was no on-set drama between the two of them.

She also said that, upon reflection, she could see why Branagh loved both of them, as the two women are slightly mad and a bit fashion-challenged.

The Lacock Abbey Warming Room / Quirrels Defence Against The Dark Arts Classroom

This room at Lacock Abbey would have been the nuns favourite room as it was the only place that they were allowed a fire in!

Yep, and whats more the fire could only be lit from November to Easter! So, it would have been freezing for the nuns.;

In Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, the warming room was used by Professor Quirrel as his Defence against the Dark Arts classroom!

It was filmed on set without any CGI and was decorated with all sorts of plants, curious things, and of course Quirrels pet iguana.

The huge cauldron here that features in the movies was not a Harry Potter prop that has left behind. In fact, its has been a part of the abbey since the 1500s!;

It was made in Antwerp but there is very little recorded of it. So, no one really knows why its here! But, there are many theories with the most popular being that it was used by the nuns for cooking.

There is a local legend that says that the cauldron was used for Queen Anne in the early 1700s. Apparently, pork and a sack load of peas were prepared for Her Majesty to eat.

Defence Against the Dark Arts Class, anyone?

Lacock Village And Abbey

This 13th-century abbey in Wiltshire and the pretty nearby village were used extensively for Harry Potter filming locations in England. ;

In The Philosopher’s Stone, the village of Godric’s Hollow and Godric’s Hollow Parish Church can be recognised in Lacock, and Harry’s parents cottage was filmed at the end of Church Street. ;

Lacock Abbey was yet another stand-in for Hogwarts, with the most recognisable location being the cloisters which were used as the halls of Hogwarts Castle.; The Abbey ‘s Warming Room, containing a giant cauldron, was Professor Quirrell’s Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom, Professor Snape’s Potions Class was held in the Sacristy, and the Chapter House was where Harry found the Mirror of Erised in The Philosopher’s Stone. ;;

Weekend Estimates: Ralph Slips Still Strong Hannah Tops Expectations Still Soft

Ralph Breaks the Internet will retain top spot on the weekend box office chart with an estimated $25.8 million for a two-week total of $119.3 million. Granted, this is lower than we predicted, but not so much lower than anyone at Disney should be panicking. Internationally, the film added an estimated $33.7 million in 27 markets, lifting its international total to $87.7 million after two weeks of release. Its only major market opening of the weekend was the U.K. where it reportedly earned $5.2 million. This is less than Wreck-It Ralph opened with, but that film debuted during the school holidays, so it got a boost. Ralph Breaks the Internet should have longer than average legs thanks to Christmas, but I dont think it will match its predecessor in this market. More…

Divinity School At The Bodleian Library Aka Hogwarts Infirmary

The magic of Harry Potter: See inside the studios where ...

Appeared in: Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

If you, like me, watched the infirmary scene of Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone thinking what the heck kind of gorgeous hospital is this?! then youre in luck its a room you can actually visit in real life!

This gorgeous Gothic vaulted room is actually the Divinity School at the Bodleian Library. It appears in a few films because well, unsurprisingly, people at Hogwarts get hurt a lot. In Chamber of Secrets for instance, this is where Harry goes after Gilderoy Lockheart royally screws up his bone structure and he has to literally REGROW bones thanks to his incompetence. Hermione is also seen recuperating here later thanks to her Cat-astrophic encounter with Polyjuice Potion.

The Divinity School also made a reappearance as the room in Goblet of Fire where McGonagall is teaching everyone how to dance prior to the Yule Ball and Ron gets awkwardly chosen as tribute. So. awkward.

How to visit this Harry Potter location for yourself: You can easily visit the Divinity School for a small fee. For only;£2, you can go inside for a quick peek. Otherwise, you can also book a full tour of the Bodleian Library which would include other spots only accessible via tour, like; Duke Humfreys Library . More info here.

Daniel Radcliffes Favorite Harry Potter Movie Is A Strange Choice

Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe, has weighed in on which movies in the franchise were his favorite, and his choices were rather unexpected.

Daniel Radcliffe has revealed which of the Harry Potter movies is his favorite, and his choice is somewhat strange and unexpected. The Boy Who Lived himself gave his answer in a recent interview, selecting the fifth and eighth movies as his favorites in the franchise, with the former being his favorite to work on and the latter being his favorite to watch. His choices came as something of a surprise to fans of the series.

Serving as the end to the Harry Potter saga, The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is filled with death and despair from the start. The story picks up shortly after Dobbys tear-jerking sacrifice and death, and although it ultimately culminates in the defeat of Lord Voldemort, a great many of Harrys friends and cohorts are lost along the way. Lupin and Tonks are both killed, as well as Fred and a slew of other students, and even the newly redeemed Snape is met with an emotional demise. The bulk of the movie is grey and depressing, which is necessary for a satisfying conclusion to the story but can make it difficult to watch at times.

Alan Rickman Didnt Let The Cast Come Near His Bmw

When youre filming with a group of young actors for over a decade, you cant really expect them not to mess with your stuff, not even when youre a revered thespian;like Alan Rickman.

For whatever reason, during the filming of The Goblet of Fire, Rupert Grint and Matthew Lewis were in one of Rickmans older cars and they managed to spill a milkshake in said car.

Some time later, Rickman got an upgrade and bought himself a new BMW. Once filming for The Order of the Phoenix started, Rickman forbade Grint and Lewis from coming within 5 meters of his car, no doubt fearing that the young actors would again spill something in his new wheels.

There was no official ban on set, but were certain that Rickman was able to intimidate the actors from staying away.

Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire

During Harry’s fourth year, Hogwarts plays host to a legendary event: the Triwizard Tournament. Three European schools participate in the tournament, with three ‘champions’ representing each school in the deadly tasks. The Goblet of Fire chooses Fleur Delacour, Viktor Krum, and Cedric Diggory to compete against each other. However, curiously, Harry’s name is also produced from the Goblet thus making him a fourth champion, which results in a terrifying encounter with a reborn Lord Voldemort.

The Actor Playing Crabbe Was Fired

Harry Potter Actors Recall Their Very First Filming Day | OSSA Movies

As many fans noticed, Vincent Crabbes character was replaced in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows with Blaise Zabini, another Slytherin from Dracos year. While Blaises character appeared in the books, he wasnt originally in the Room of Requirement scene.

Jamie Waylett, the actor who played Crabbe, was meant to appear in the scene, but he was not asked to return to the franchise since he got arrested in 2009 for growing some illegal substances.

Although he was already removed from the cast, in 2011 he was arrested again for stealing from a supermarket during the London Riots. It seems that the troublesome Slytherin actor was equally troublesome off-set.

The Warner Bros Studio Tour The Making Of Harry Potter

Last on our list of Harry Potter filming locations in London is the Warner Bros Studio, home of the Warner Bros Studio Tour. This is actually a little way outside the city, near Watford Junction, but as itâs such a fabulous place to visit we definitely wanted to include it in our list. If you only do one thing related to Harry Potter in London, make it this.

This film studio was where all eight of the Harry Potter films were actually filmed, and they have retained a great many of the sets, clothing, and props from the movies. You can visit the Great Hall, the railway station, numerous filming locations from inside Hogwarts, the Forbidden Forest, and even Diagon Alley.

Youâll learn many of the secrets of how the films were made, have the opportunity to drink Butterbeer, and generally get all the Harry Potter magic you could imagine. There are also places to stop and eat and a giant gift shop full of all things Harry Potter.

As I said, if you only do one thing on this list of Harry Potter things to do in London, we definitely recommend making it this one â we really enjoyed our visit and learning all about how the films were made.

The visit lasts for about three hours and is largely self-guided, so you can take as much or little time as you like. Thereâs lots to see and do though, so weâd suggest three hours is a good amount to plan for, not including travel time.
