J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World has entertained the public for decades, and is showing no signs of slowing down. The franchise continues to be expanded with TheCursed Child plays and Fantastic Beasts franchise, Harry Potter’s years at Hogwarts are the most beloved part of Rowling’s work. Actor Jason Isaacs played the villainous Lucius Malfoy in a whopping fiveHarry Potter movies, ending with The Deathly Hallows Part 2. And now he’s revealed what he thinks happened to Lucius following the Battle of Hogwarts.

Lucius Malfoy was a loyal servant of Voldemort to a fault throughout his time on screen. Siding with the Dark Lord resulted in him being sent to Azkaban following the events of The Order of the Phoenix. The family manages to survive the Battle of Hogwarts, with Narcissa saving Harry’s life, but what happened to Lucius afterward? Jason Isaacs recently put his two cents in about his signature character, saying:

I think what wouldve happened afterwards, is that he would become a shell of himself. His money would protect him because money always protects people, and I think he wouldve lost if he ever had any the respect of his wife and his son. Society would shun him and he would cower inside his mansion and drink himself into an early grave. And frankly, deserve it.

Jason Isaacs Turned In An Iconic Turn As Lucius Malfoy

All Harry Potter fans know the true villain of the saga is Lord Voldemort . The Dark Lord is responsible for killing Harrys parents. And midway through the series, Harry discovers a prophecy which reveals just how intertwined he and Voldemort really are. But, of course, He Who Must Not Be Named is far from Harrys only adversary.

At Hogwarts, Harry regularly comes up against rival Draco Malfoy . Yet, as it turns out, Dracos father Lucius is the real threat of the family. Lucius remains a Voldemort support, serving him throughout the series. Isaacs clearly relishes playing such a dastardly character. But the actor just admitted he didnt initially want the role.

Who Does Jason Isaacs Play In ‘sex Education’ Season 3

According to Digital Spy, Jason plays Peter Groff. Does that surname ring a bell? It’s because it’s shared by both Adam Groff and his father, Michael Groff, in the series.

Peter is Michael’s much cooler and much more successful older brother. At the end of Season 2, Michael and his wife separated. Now, he’s staying with his brother.

Judging by the trailer, Peter may show Michael a thing or two about living life as a bachelor. Or, he’ll show his younger brother just how good he had it when he was a successful headmaster with a devoted family by his side.

There might be hope left for Michael to totally turn things around, and there’s a chance Peter will be part of what helps him realize that.

The Villainous Side Of Jason Isaacs

In retrospect, the idea that Jason Isaacs hesitated to take on a villainous role is ironic given … his entire filmography. Maybe that was the explanation behind his hesitation in the first place but Jason, buddy, sometimes you gotta embrace the thing you’re good at! Being deliciously evil just happens to be his special talent.

“Chamber of Secrets” was my first encounter with evil Isaacs, but certainly not my last. A few years later, I’d watch him in “The Patriot” as Colonel William Tavington, a brutal psychopath who proved just as haughty as Malfoy and just as willing to harm characters I loved. Continuing his trend of haunting my childhood, Isaacs later appeared in “Avatar: The Last Airbender” as the voice of Admiral Zhao, a fire nation villain desperately in need of some swimming lessons. The list only goes on from there, including iconic roles like the previously mentioned Captain Hook and uh, other characters that I have since scrubbed from my brain . And then there are his many voiceover roles, which include a line-up of very famous supervillains like Ra’s Al Ghul, Lex Luthor, and Sinestro. The moral of the story? If you’re looking for a villain, call Lucius Malfoy.

“Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts” is now streaming on HBO Max.

Harry Potter Star Jason Isaacs Says He Isnt Jumping To Stab Jk Rowling In The Back

Jason Isaacs Almost Turned Down the Role of Lucius Malfoy ...

Jason Isaacs has said he was not going to be jumping to stab JK Rowling in the front or back without having a conversation with her.

The actor who starred as Lucius Malfoy in the film adaptations of Rowlings Harry Potter novels spoke about his thoughts on the author during a recent interview with The Telegraph.

Rowling faced backlash in 2020 after posting a series of tweets that were widely described as anti-trans, which the author then followed up with a lengthy blog post.

The essay was criticised by LGBTQ+ advocacy groups and others for containing inaccuracies and perpetuating harmful beliefs about transgender people.

Theres a bunch of stuff about Jo, Isaacs said. You know, I play complicated people, Im interested in complicated people. I dont want to get drawn into the trans issues, talking about them, because its such an extraordinary minefield.

The 58-year-old added: She has her opinions, I have mine. They differ in many different areas.

He went on to highlight that one of the things that people should know about her too not as a counter-argument is the unequivocally good work that Rowling does through her charity, Lumos.

Isaacs continued: So for all that she has said some very controversial things, I was not going to be jumping to stab her in the front or back without a conversation with her, which Ive not managed to have yet.

Jason Isaacs Originally Wanted To Play A Different Harry Potter Character

Every Harry Potter fan loves Jason Isaacs performance as Lucius Malfoy. Dracos evil father was played with a brilliantly icy edge in the franchise and quickly became a favorite. As he was so perfect for the role, its surprising to hear then that the actor had actually set his sights on portraying a very different character from the Wizarding World at first.

Isaacs whos now playing Captain Gabriel Lorca in Star Trek: Discovery revealed to Digital Spy that he initially auditioned for Gilderoy Lockhart. However, when Kenneth Branagh was locked in for that role, the Harry Potter producers asked Isaacs to try out for Lucius Malfoy instead. Its fair to say that the actor was not pleased at losing out on his ideal role.

I didnt audition for Lucius, I auditioned for Gilderoy Lockhart. I was mightily pissed off when they asked me would I mind reading for a different part. I was about to go play Captain Hook and didnt want to do two childrens villains. I went back in and read then went home.

Isaacs was so sure that he didnt want to play Lucius, in fact, that he specifically asked his agent to refuse the part on his behalf.

I said to my agent, When they call, tell them no, thank you very much, I am about to go play Captain Hook. Just think about it over the weekend. I said, No, I dont want to think about it its fun and lovely and flattering but I am not playing two childrens villains!’

Emma Watson Says She Was In Love With Tom Felton

As the main cast went from children to teenagers on the set of Harry Potter, it isn’t surprising to learn that some of the stars had crushes on one another. In the reunion, Emma Watson admitted to falling hard for co-star Tom Felton.

“I walked into the room where we were having tutoring,” she said. “The assignment that had been given was to draw what you thought God looked like, and Tom had drawn a girl with a backward cap on a skateboard. And I just don’t know how to say itI just fell in love with him.”

Jason Isaacs Originally Auditioned For A Different Role In Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets

Jason Isaacs Reveals Favorite ‘Harry Potter’ Scene to Film!

No fantastical coming-of-age story would be complete without formidable villains to terrify its young heroes, and Harry Potter is no exception. In fact, the franchise is famous for a Big Bad so threatening that characters often hesitate to speak his name. But before Voldermort invaded this magical tale of childhood, his followers were there to fill the sinister void. Easily one of Harry’s most memorable enemies, Lucius Malfoy stands above the rest of the henchmen and Voldemort followers, and actor Jason Isaacs is an incredible addition to the saga.

It’s hard to imagine a version of the Wizarding World without the elder Malfoy as we know him: looking down on the golden trio and hurling insults at beloved characters. But it turns out that Lucius Malfoy’s cruelty truly knows no bounds and was almost too much for Isaacs to embrace. In the 20th anniversary special “Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts,” the actor revealed that he initially came to the series in hopes of taking on a completely different role.

Harry Potter: Jason Isaacs Didnt Want To Play Lucius Malfoy

In an interview given at the Harry Potter Celebration, Jason Isaacs admits he did not initially want to play Lucius Malfoy in Harry Potter.

One of the most clever aspects in the casting of the Harry Potter films was the inclusion of a number of actors who were known for typically playing villains. While he played a variety of different characters in his life, what Alan Rickman was known for early in his career were two wonderful villainous roles – Hans Gruber in Die Hard and The Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. And Gary Oldman has played numerous murderers, corrupt officials, terrorists, and vampires throughout his career. So when the characters they played in Harry Potter both had their allegiances called into question, it was easy to assume they were evil, making the revelations about their characters far more surprising. However, they were not the only actors known for playing bad guys to join the cast. Another was Jason Isaacs.

Isaacs started acting in the 1980s, but his popularity soured in 2000 after he played a British soldier in The Patriot. His character committed numerous atrocities far beyond the scope of war, including the murder of wounded soldiers, women, and children. Not long after, he was cast in the iconic role of Captain Hook in Peter Pan. So when it came to auditioning for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, he had a different sort of role in mind.

Being one of Voldemort‘s inner circle and, up until the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, one of his most trusted and valued allies, Lucius was obviously a very powerful and experienced wizard.

Jason Isaacs Injured One Of The Harry Potter Kids During Filming

It seems like just yesterday that the first book of the Harry Potter series was released in the summer of 1997. Now its been 24 years and there have been six more books, eight movies, a spin-off trilogy, a play, and so much more. The recent HBO Max special Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts saw the cast of the films reunite. In this reunion special, tons of interviews with the cast give fans new insights into the experiences these actors had filming these movies. One of the most interesting is a behind-the-scenes tale told by Lucius Malfoy himself, Jason Isaacs.

According to Jason Isaacs, there was a slight mishap when he was filming a scene with his on-screen son Draco Malfoy played by Tom Felton. Apparently, Isaacs wasnt aware of how dangerous one of his props was. While filming a scene together, Isaacs accidentally hurt Feltons hand with his cane.

Despite the tumultuous relationship between these two characters, Tom Felton and Jason Isaacs seem to have nothing but good things to say and mutual respect for one another. Of course, Felton has the caveat that working with Jason was not always a treat due to the nature of Isaacs character and how mean and unfriendly he would become.

Jason Isaacs Was Low

I cannot imagine a better than Jason Isaacs as Lucius Malfoy anywhere else. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, however, didnt initially interest Jason since he didnt initially desire to play Dracos evil father. According to him, it is unlikely that Lucius was chosen for the part because he refused to do it.

While some Potter stars including Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint have issued statements expressing support for the trans community amid backlash to Rowling’s views that “sex is real and has lived consequences,” Isaacs, 58, declined to criticize the writer in a new interview with the Telegraph.

Theres a bunch of stuff about Jo, the Good Sam actor told the British newspaper when asked about Rowling, whose first name is Joanne. You know, I play complicated people, Im interested in complicated people. I don’t want to get drawn into the trans issues, talking about them, because it’s such an extraordinary minefield.”

He went on to note some of the positive work Rowling has done.

She has her opinions, I have mine,” Isaacs continued. “They differ in many different areas. But one of the things that people should know about her too not as a counter-argument is that she has poured an enormous amount of her fortune into making the world a much better place, for hundreds of thousands of vulnerable children, through her charity Lumos. And that is unequivocally good. Many of us Harry Potter actors have worked for it, and seen on the ground the work that they do.
