They Don’t Get Jealous Of Each Other
We mentioned that Ron had his irrational jealousy moments, when he just lost control over himself. But that’s not enough to say that Harry is the better pick, we also need to test this aspect on him. And guess what? He passes! Harry, being the Chosen one, with his great popularity and fame in the world of magic, was never seen through that prism by Hermione. She didn’t care about any of those things and was friends with him for the person he is. Likewise, Harry was never jealous of Hermione because of her wits and the fact that she was the cleverest student of the entire school.
They Respect Each Other
The books and the movies are littered with small examples that show just how highly the two think of each other. Can you find at least even half of those, where Hermione expresses her deep admiration of Ron? We didn’t think so. It’s really quite obvious that Hermione has more respect for Harry, and Harry admires her just as much – more than either of them do with Ron. Again, Ron fans, we’re not hating, just being honest. Harry always radiated pride for Hermione’s brilliance and her achievements, and she always praised him for being him. Not to mention how attentive she was to his words and how much of them she memorized.

Harry and Hermione getting together is something that several fans thought should and would happen as the Harry Potter stories developed so many years ago, and rightfully so.
While some people claim that the leading man getting with the leading lady is stereotypical and boring, we think that in the case of Harry Potter it just makes sense.
Harry and Hermione have such a fantastic relationship with each other that often times, when each of them dated someone else, their significant other would find themselves jealous of the the H/Hr friendship. In Goblet of Fire Viktor Krum found himself so jealous of Harry that he instigated a private conversation with the man himself, which surprised Harry since the older Quidditch star considered him a rival. Heck, even Cho Chang was jealous of Hermiones relationship with Harry in Order of the Phoenix.
On the other hand, its not often that we see someone jealous of Hermione and Rons relationship.
And it isnt hard to believe that Hermione found herself interested in Harry in more than just a platonic way when you look at the admiration she holds for him. Over the seven years, Hermione was consistently impressed with what Harry had to offer in terms of intelligence and bravery.
Several times in the novels Hermione told Harry how much she admired him. In Half-Blood Prince she tells him that his comments are as worthy of memorization as the words of a text book:

They Are Still Drawn Together Even After The Challenges They Face
Together, Hermione and Ron have to face some pretty serious obstacles. Theres all the pressure of school, corrupt professors, Voldemort returning, and of course the increasing threat to their lives and that of their families’. Its remarkable that anybody could fit a relationship in when they have all that to deal with.
Theres also the fact that they get off on the wrong foot. It would have been so easy for them to tell themselves that it wasnt meant to be or the timing was off, but they dont. Instead, they end up in each others arms in the Chamber of Secrets.
Great: Hermione Never Abandoned Harry
Hermione in many ways is truly Harrys most loyal friend in the Harry Potter series. While Ron is a great friend in many ways, there are times where he falters. He has two notable times where he abandons Harry in a time of need, but Hermione never does this. This goes to show that she would make an extremely loyal and steady romantic partner.
This would have been really good for Harry to have especially because so many people in his life have left him in one way or another.

Hermione Is More Like Harry’s Mother
Most fans of the whole Harry/Ginny relationship tend to claim that the relationship parallels that of James/Lily Potter. While we’re not going to dispute the fact that Harry is the spitting image of his father in mind and body, the same cannot be the same for Ginny. While Ginny may in fact resemble Lily Potter in appearance, no one matches Lily in her characteristics quite like Hermione does. She’s brave, smart and loyal in all the ways that Lily used to be in her prime. Like Lily, despite claims that she may be a “Mary Sue” , Hermione does in fact have her flaws. Unlike Ginny, who always felt like the manic pixie dream girl of the Potterverse who suddenly became brilliant and universally lovable halfway through the series. In short, a Mary Sue.
Harry Ending Up With Hermione Would Ruin His Friendship With Ron
Lets face it: if Harry and Hermione had ended up together, the friendship between Ron and both of them would have effectively been ruined. We can see from the way Ron reacts in The Deathly Hallows Part 1 that hes already worried about Hermione liking Harry more than him. It would destroy him to see them really live happily ever after together.

Great: Theyre Much Better As Friends
Theres no denying that Harry and Hermione are great friends and that they care about each other deeply. However, just because you love someone as a friend doesnt mean that a romantic relationship would work. Friendships can be just as deep and important, but they are just a different kind of relationship.
Many of the things that make them work so well as friends might not translate well into romance. They both see the world rather differently, and they dont have a ton of shared hobbies or interests.
They Care Enough To Get Jealous
Throughout the series, Ron and Hermione are seen getting jealous when each other has any kind of romantic interest from anywhere else. Theres Hermione getting jealous of Lavender Brown, and Ron getting jealous of Viktor Krum, and although relationships shouldnt be based purely on jealousy, it is a sign that they care about each other even before they admit it.
It would be less promising if they could watch each other be pursued by other people and not feel any twinge of envy. Ron and Hermione caring enough to get jealous shows that theyre emotionally invested in each other romantically.

For: Harry And Hermione Always Had Far Fewer Arguments Than Hermione And Ron
Cast your mind back to their first-ever journey on the Hogwarts Express. The first meeting between Hermione and Ron was telling, with Hermione challenging Ron first to perform magic and then informing him that he had dirt on his nose. To Harry, she was friendlier instantly: fixing his glasses. But she continued to torment Ron, goading him to perform magic on Scabbers before she disappeared again.
Throughout the books, the mutual respect between Harry and Hermione made for a far calmer friendship. During Ron and Harrys spat during the early stages of the Triwizard Tournament, Hermione was far more reasonable to Harry and the pair seem to work well together generally. A Quidditch champion and the smartest witch in her year: they wouldve made quite the power couple.

Avid Harry Potter fans will be familiar with the slow-burning romance between Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, which finally culminated in their marriage at the end of the wizarding series.
But now author J K Rowling has said that her famous protagonistought to have ended up with Hermione instead.
In a rare interview given to Wonderland magazine, she said: “I wrote the Hermione/Ronrelationship as a form of wish fulfilment.”
“Thats how it was conceived, really. For reasons that have verylittle to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging tothe plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron.”
Rowling, 48, was quizzed by 23-year-old actress Emma Watson, whoplayed Hermione in the Harry Potter film franchise and wasguest-editing the new issue of the magazine.

Theres A Lot For Them To Bond Over
While those challenges that they face might actually make it harder for them to maintain a relationship, they also give Ron and Hermione something over which to bond. They have experiences that literally nobody else would understand, which makes them turn to each other and get each other like nobody else does.
Together theyre chased by a werewolf, stalked by Death Eaters, and must even face Voldemort himself. These stressful factors bring down some relationships, but with Ron and Hermione, those events actually fuse them more closely together and provide a strong foundation on which they can build their relationship.
However A Harry/hermione Pairing Is Also Not Credible
Harry and Hermione never showed the slightest bit of romantic interest in each other in the books. Even if Hermione and Ron’s relationship may not have been likely, as JKR has admitted, that does not imply that Harry and Hermione would get together.

By contrast, a relationship between Ginny and Harry, who had genuine, strong feelings for each other, and no history of animosity is credible.
Ginny and Harry have a good relationship. A relationship between Harry and Hermione would require more than Ron and Hermione lacking a healthy dynamic it would require actual romantic feelings between Hermione and Harry, which never existed.
Even if Ron and Hermione always fought, they were well paired in the worldly sense.

Chemistry is important in a relationship and Ron and Hermione have it in abundance. There is a connection between these two from the second they meet on the Hogwarts Express in their first year at Hogwarts, even though they dont acknowledge it for quite a few years. Theyve got an undeniable bond that is missing from Harry and Hermiones friendship.

There are several examples in the book series, but these examples are even more evident when looking at the movies. Whether this was intentional or not, Harry and Hermione frequently jump in front of each other or cling on to each other immediately whenever danger is afoot, as if they were the first things on each other’s minds.

Hermione Is Rons Main Motivation
Now, Im not saying that Ron should be a mercy-date really now, hes a bit dense sometimes, but he means well, and he deserves better than pity dating but Id even venture to say that its Hermione whom Ron returns for in the forest in Book 7. Its the fear of losing her that the horcrux uses to poison his mind and constantly seeing Harry and Hermione whispering together, often over fears that Ron is growing increasingly more moody, is a small enough spark to ignite his jealousy. Its a self-fulfilling prophecy, really, but somewhere along the line when hes not with the two, Ron realizes that theres nowhere else he should be than with Harry and Hermione.
Every one of Rons fears in coming in second to Harry is shaded with how he comes second to Harry in regards to the women in his life. The Riddle-Hermione has significantly more screen time, and she fixates on Rons greatest fear that Hermione will choose Harry whereas the Riddle-Harry does a volley of different jabs onto Rons character, nothing hes never heard before. Moreover, its the Riddle-Hermione that makes the move onto Riddle-Harry. Rons fear is losing her, not that Harry would betray him.
Hermione Tells Harry How Appealing He Is
The relationship drama in Harry Potter really reaches a fever pitch in Half-Blood Prince, as Harry begins his relationship with Ginny and Hermione finds herself jealous after Ron starts dating Lavender Brown. There’s one moment in the book, though, where many see the potential for a romance between Harry and Hermione to form.
The moment happens after Harry has been named captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team. He’s holding trials for the year and is shocked by the number of people who show up. Hermione’s able to explain the situation to him quite simply. “It’s not Quidditch that’s popular, it’s you!” she says. “You’ve never been more interesting and, frankly, you’ve never been more fanciable.”
In that moment, Ron gags “on a large piece of kipper.” This isn’t the only time when Ron expresses his jealousy, but it’s one of the starkest examples. Ron’s fears around Harry and Hermione’s relationship reach their peak as Ron attempts to destroy the locket Horcrux in Deathly Hallows. In the novel before that, though, some fans saw the line as an indication that Harry and Hermione were meant to be.

Lets be real: Harry and Hermione together make a pretty powerful couple. Hermione is the brightest witch of her age and the smartest student at Hogwarts while Harry is the Chosen One. Who can argue with that?
Whats more, Harry and Hermione allow each other to have these privileges without being jealous. Harry loves Hermione for being so smart and often seeks out her advice because he values her opinion. And Hermione is nothing but supportive of Harry as he excels at Quidditch and fulfill his role as the Chosen One. This power couple would give Jay-Z and Beyoncé a run for their money.
Harry Isnt Attracted To Hermione Like He Is To Ginny
There are many factors that go into a successful relationship and one of those is physical attraction. Without this, a relationship is essentially platonic. And Harry just isnt attracted to Hermione the way he is to Ginny. He never sees her as anything more than a friend. Similarly, Hermione never thinks of Harry the way she thinks of Ron.
