How Did Harry Get The Ownership Of The Elder Wand

Snape is the Master of Voldemort’s Elder Wand | Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 2

This question is intriguing because, in the Malfoy manor, Harry took Draco Malfoys Hawthorn Wand, not the Elder Wand. How, then, did he become the master of the Elder Wand, which he never took from its true owner or touched?

At the Malfoy Manor, when Harry Potter defeated Draco Malfoy by taking his wand, not only did Dracos Hawthorn wand switch allegiance to Harry, but the Elder Wand did as well. Draco Malfoy was master of both, his Hawthorn Wand and the Elder Wand, following his disarming of Dumbledore on the Astronomy Tower the night Dumbledore was killed. Draco, however, never knew that he was master of the Elder Wand at any point. Furthermore, the Elder Wand chose Harry as its master.

The wand chooses the wizard. Ollivander

When Harry took the Hawthorn Wand from Draco, the Elder Wand knew that Draco had been beaten and it changed its allegiance to Harry Potter . It was simply waiting for him to gain possession of it.

At the top of the Astronomy Tower, Malfoy disarmed Dumbledore, and the Elder Wand, realizing that its previous master had been defeated, switched its allegiance. Some months later in the Malfoy Manor Harry overpowered Draco and took his Hawthorn Wand. The Elder Wand detected this and switched masters again.

Why Did Dumbledore Want Snape To Have The Wand

Dumbledore had planned for Snape to have the wand, but it didnt go the way that Dumbledore planned. When Harry confronted Tom Riddle in the forest, and the boy who lived was killed. Or so it seemed, at the time. The reason that the Elder Wand didnt kill Harry, was because the wand was his, without Harry even knowing.

What Is The Elder Wand

The Elder Wand is a very powerful instrument in the Harry Potter universe. In fact, it is the most powerful wand that was ever created. So powerful that it has caused great tragedies, death and a lot of chaos which is to be known as the bloody trail. If you would like the Elder Wand for yourself, check it out WB Shop.

Since its creation, the Elder wand quickly became renowned for its incredible power. However, its popularity, along with the lust for power among wizardkind, brought misfortune to its owners.

For the wizards who sought greatness and power, the elder wand was the ultimate treasure to be had. Those that were obsessed about having the elder wand would look for clues and gather as much information as they could to know its whereabouts.

Although the reward with having the wand can lead one to become the most powerful wizard in the world, those that want the ownership for it still need to face an almost unconquerable obstacle, the current owner.

The current owner of whom of course is likely to be the most powerful wizard in the world, due to the power of the Elder Wand.

This wouldnt always be the case though. For as early as the very first owner, his death was not a result of a violent duel but came when he was asleep. Drunk and proud, he boasted his invincibility and was assassinated when he was sleeping.

“Elf magic isn’t like wizard’s magic, is it?” said Ron. “I mean, they can Apparate and Disapparate in and out of Hogwarts when we can’t.”

There was silence as Harry digested this. How could Voldemort have made such a mistake? But even as he thought this, Hermione spoke, and her voice was icy.

“Of course, Voldemort would have considered the ways of house-elves far beneath his notice, just like all the purebloods who treat them like animals…It would never have occurred to him that they might have magic that he didn’t.”

Who Is The True Owner Of The Elder Wand

Antioch Pevrell, one of the Pevrell brothers is the first owner of the Elder Wand. After several years, Gergorovitch is the next owner, the wand was stolen by Grindelwald from Gregorovitch. After Grindewald mastered the Elder wand, he was defeated by Dumbledore and imprisoned in Nurmengard. Grindelwald and Dumbledore used to be friends until Dumbledore lost his sister. They both had their passion for the Deathly Hallows in common, but the death of Dumbledores sister affected them.

However, Dumbledore did not duel Grindelwald for revenge, he did it to fight and overpower The Dark Lord. Later, Draco disarmed Dumbledore, to become the new master, and Harry Potter beat Draco at the Manor winning both his Hawthorn wand and the elder wand. Though Draco never used the elder wand, it was rightfully his till Harry defeated him.

The owner of the wand must win the wand in a duel. There cannot be two owners, and the elder wand decides its own destiny. When Voldermort removed the wand from Dumbledores tomb after killing Snape, he believed he was the rightful owner, but the wand rightfully belongs to Draco Malfoy because he disarmed Professor Dumbledore at the astronomy tower before Snape finished the job. The true owner of the wand is the person that overpowered its previous owner. When Harry potter destroyed it, he was the rightful owner.

Why Did Snape Point His Wand At Harry

Voldemort Gaining the Possesion of the Elder Wand- Deathly Hallows Part 1 Ending Scene (HD)

Well he was watched by Voldemort so he had to make sure he played his part as a Death Eater well, even pointing the wand at Harry was necessary for his cover anyway.

Why is the Elder Wand dracos? Dumbledore didnt want to lose his wand at that point and Draco disarmed him. When Harry wrestles Dracos everyday wand out of his hand at the Malfoys mansion, he conquers Draco, and therefore the Elder Wand hidden in Dumbledores tomb at the time transfers its allegiance to Harry.

When did Harry Potter disarm Malfoy?

That happened in Deathly Hallows. Harry disarmed Malfoy in the Malfoy Manor when he wrested away three wands from Draco. Yes, wresting away is still defeating the wizard. Just like stabbing Antioch Peverell to death is still defeating the wizard.

Why did Voldemort fear death? One feels their presence through memories, but as far as Voldemort is concerned, there is no magical component to death. He can only conquer death, or so he believes, in the realm of the living by throwing magic at it. Voldemort fears death because he doesnt know how to manipulate it to his advantage.

Does Voldemort Kill Grindelwald

When talking about franchises with memorable villains many will immediately think of the Harry Potter franchise and its noseless big bad. Until the recent addition to the franchise in the form of Fantastic Beasts movies, many fans were only vaguely aware of Gellert Grindelwald, who is the original dark lord of the wizarding world. Luckily, for all curious fans, we actually see these two meet and know what would happen if they met.

Sometime before the Battle of Hogwarts, Lord Voldemort sought out the legendary wizard amidst his search for the Elder Wand. Once they are face to face and Grindelwald refuses to help him and all but mocks him leads Voldemort to kill him.

At the first glance, this may seem like an out character decision for Lord Voldemort. Wouldnt he be better of keeping Grindelwald alive and as an ally? After all, two dark lords will definitely be better than one. If you would like to know more about this interesting unfolding of the plot, keep reading.

Crimes Of Grindelwald: The Elder Wand

J. K. Rowling has said that her Fantastic Beasts films are about how Dumbledore became Dumbledore. Whatever you make of that, I think the obvious point too easily neglected is that this film franchise will lead, not just to the 1945 battle between Gellert Grindelwald and Albus Dumbledore, but, more importantly, to a bridge connecting this series with the Hogwarts Saga. A key piece of that bridge building is going to be the three Deathly Hallows and, specifically, the Elder Wand.

I want to briefly discuss here why we know this is the case and what happened in Crimes of Grindelwald to build the Scamander-Potter Bridge and reveal mastery of the Elder Wand.

There is already a bridge, of course, linking the two stories. The prequel Beasts series would be unintelligible except for the twenty years of Wizarding World building that preceded it. Those unfamiliar with Hogwarts, Muggle-Wizard relations, even the relatively detailed history of Dumbledore and Grindelwald will find the Fantastic Beasts films a bizarre instance of experimental theater in which all the essential back story is left unspoken. Rowlings task here, then, is not to build a bridge her previous novels and screenplay connect the worlds but to build the plotline and history of the Potter adventures that we didnt know, most importantly, the background of Albus Dumbledore.

I think Nifflers fit on that list, too.

Confused By Potter Author Sets Record Straight

With the seemingly endless number of characters, plotlines and inventive words spread out across the seven Harry Potter novels, even the most avid Potter fan may have had a hard time keeping everything straight in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. But who better to clear up any confusion than the woman who wrote the story herself?

In an exclusive interview, TODAYs Meredith Vieira asked J.K. Rowling questions submitted by viewers about Deathly Hallows. Below you will find Rowlings explanations of some of the finer points of her final Potter novel.

Why was Draco the true owner of the Elder Wand?Voldemort thinks that he becomes the true owner of the Elder Wand by stealing it from Dumbledores grave, but in the end we learn that the true owner was really Draco Malfoy, that is until Harry defeated him and allegiance transferred to Harry. How did Draco become the true owner of the Elder Wand?

To truly own the Elder Wand, which means to receive the full benefits, double-edged though it is, of all its power, you have to have conquered the previous owner, explained Rowling.

At the end of Book 6, Half-Blood Prince, Draco disarmed Dumbledore before Snape killed Dumbledore.

From that moment on, that wand gave its allegiance to Draco, and it wouldnt work as well for anyone but Draco.

Rowling said her American editor suggested the moment when Harry conquers Draco should be more dramatic.

Does The Elder Wand Really Belong To Harry Potter

Mod The Sims

Is this is a mistake in the book or just a blooper in the film?

In the movie Deathly Hallows Part 1 Harry doesn’t ever disarm Malfoy he simply snatches the wand. Does that mean Harry is still the owner of the elder wand?

Another thing I noticed is in Deathly Hallows Part 2, Hermione disarms Malfoy in the Room of Requirement after which Harry saves Malfoy and never disarms him again! So doesn’t that mean that the Elder wand belongs to Hermione now? I haven’t read the books so I’m a bit confused.

This might be a stupid question for a few of you but I really want to understand this, as every time I see the movie I research on it and never get an answer that really explains or satisfies me, especially about when Hermione disarms Malfoy in the Room of Requirement!

  • 3Rest assured that it isn’t so stupid a question ), since I didn’t really understand this that well either . Still your second paragraph doesn’t make much sense, because if Harry disarming Draco happened earlier, then Hermione would have to disarm Harry and not Draco to gain the wand. Did Harry Break The Elder Wand In The Book

The scene where Harry walks on the bridge with Hermoine and Ron behind me would always linger, this was where he snapped the elder wand in two and tossed it away. Though Ron was in support of Harry keeping the wand for himself, Hermoine believed it should be destroyed. The wand had enough deaths of great wizards. Besides, only three people know the real story. However, In the book, Harry Potter placed the wand in Professor Dumbledores tomb. He said no one should be allowed to have that kind of power.

So instead of breaking it and tossing it out as he did, he placed it in the tomb. Those aware of the true story and the true owner of the wand are Ron Weasely, Hermoine Granger, and Harry himself. In the movie, Harry snapped the wand in two and threw it away. In the book, Harry placed it in Dumbledores tomb and he covered it up. There have been different opinions about which option he should have gone for.
