Academics and journalists have developed many other interpretations of themes in the books, some more complex than others, and some including political subtexts. Themes such as normality, oppression, survival, and overcoming imposing odds have all been considered as prevalent throughout the series. Similarly, the theme of making one’s way through adolescence and “going over one’s most harrowing ordealsand thus coming to terms with them” has also been considered. Rowling has stated that the books comprise “a prolonged argument for tolerance, a prolonged plea for an end to bigotry” and that also pass on a message to “question authority and … not assume that the establishment or the press tells you all of the truth”.
Some political commentators have seen J. K. Rowling’s portrayal of the bureaucratised Ministry of Magic and the oppressive measures taken by the Ministry in the later books ” rel=”nofollow”> Mudbloods” with the Ministry) as an allegory of criticising the state.

Richard Harris The First Man Behind Harry Potter’s Dumbledore Died In 2002
The wizarding world of Harry Potter would not be nearly the place it is without Albus Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts. He guides Harry throughout his time at the school and beyond in his fight against Voldemort, and he delivers some of the best one-liners. The actor who originally filled the role in the first two Harry Potter films, Richard Harris, died after fighting an aggressive form of Hodgkin’s disease, and, as noted by Entertainment Weekly, had a fighting spirit that was hard to come by.
Chris Columbus, the director behind the first two Harry Potter films, said in a press conference just hours before Harris died that the actor had every intention of coming back to set as Dumbledore that despite his illness, he was ready to bring the wizarding professor back to life. “He did threaten to kill me if I recast ,” Columbus said during the press conference. “I cannot even repeat what he said. He still has got that fight inside of him.”
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was the last film that Harris appeared in as Dumbledore. He was later replaced by actor Michael Gambon.
Nymphadora Tonks Natalia Tena
Tonks may have been sidelined in the Harry Potter films more than we would have liked, but Natalia Tena did a wonderful job with what she had. Her talents did not go to waste, as she moved on to star in another hugely popular fantasy series, Game of Thrones. Tena also co-starred in Origins alongside a fellow Harry Potter cast member, Tom Felton. Unfortunately, Youtube did not pick up the show for a second season. Most recently she joined yet another massive franchise, having appeared in an episode of The Mandalorian on Disney+.

Alan Rickman Who Played Severus Snape Died In 2016
Alan Rickman’s tragic death at age 69 due to cancer left many Harry Potter fans utterly bereft. Fellow actors, along with J.K. Rowling, took to Twitter to praise Alan’s extraordinary talent and genuine friendship. BBC News reported he was “surrounded by family and friends” at the time of his death. Daniel Radcliffe wrote, “Working with at such a formative age was incredibly important, and I will carry the lessons he taught me for the rest of my life and career.”
Honorable Mention: Lavender Brown
Lavender’s situation is left with a bit of uncertainty, as she may have technically been alive when Harry last saw her, though her situation looked grim. She was last scene being attacked by werewolf Fenrir Greyback. Harry noted that her body was “feebly stirring” after Hermione fought Fenrir off. However, she presumably died of her injuries. Though she was never a major character in the series, her death was likely devastating to her best friend, fellow Gryffindor, Parvati Patil.

Will There Be A Harry Potter 9 Movie
As of the time this article is written, there is no talk about a continuation of the Harry Potter franchise in the movie format.
J.K.Rowling has published a drama called Harry Potter and the Cursed Child which takes place in the future with the main characters being children of the original franchises main characters, namely Harrys and Dracos sons.
However, another movie covering the original book series most likely wont happen since the original cast has spoken up on a few occasions that despite their love for the franchise they cannot deny that it has affected their career and made it difficult to break out of the Harry Potter roles.

Online Leaks And Early Delivery
In the week before its release, a number of texts purporting to be genuine leaks appeared in various forms. On 16 July, a set of photographs representing all 759 pages of the US edition was leaked and was fully transcribed prior to the official release date. The photographs later appeared on websites and peer-to-peer networks, leading Scholastic to seek a subpoena in order to identify one source. This represented the most serious security breach in the Harry Potter series’ history. Rowling and her lawyer confirmed that there were genuine online leaks. Reviews published in both The Baltimore Sun and The New York Times on 18 July 2007, corroborated many of the plot elements from this leak, and about one day prior to release, The New York Times confirmed that the main circulating leak was real.
The Rules Around Underage Magic Are Explained Better In The Books
After Dobby uses a hover charm in “Chamber of Secrets” to levitate and drop a dessert in the living room at the Dursley’s, Harry immediately receives a message reprimanding him for the use of underage magic in front of the whole family.
This scene was left out of the film, which makes it unclear how the Dursleys know that Harry isn’t allowed to use magic outside of school in the following movie.

Kingsley Shacklebolt George Harris
Its been a while since youve heard this name. Harris most famous role was starring as Kingsley in the Harry Potter films, though he also had roles in Raiders of the Lost Ark, Black Hawk Down, and the 2011 Royal National Theatre adaptation of Frankenstein alongside Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller. Since Potter, Harris has kept a low profile.
Richard Griffiths Who Played Vernon Dursley Died In 2013
Richard passed in 2013 after suffering complications from heart surgery. Despite playing a widely despised character, he was well beloved by the cast. Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe had actually worked with Richard several times throughout his career and told Entertainment Weekly upon his passing, “I was proud to say I knew him.”

How Many Harry Potter Movies Are There
The Harry Potter book series was adapted into eight movies. Each movie depicts the events described in one book, except for the last one. The last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was depicted throughout two movies.
Besides the original book series, there is the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which was written as a drama, and the Fantastic Beasts franchise, which depicts the events leading up to the legendary duel between Dumbledore and Grindelwald. Professor Slughorn Jim Broadbent
Jim Broadbent was a late edition to the Harry Potter cast, first appearing in Half-Blood Prince, but he certainly made his mark in a short time. The prominent roles continued after Potter, where Broadbent was cast in films such as The Iron Lady, Cloud Atlas, Brooklyn, the Paddington films, and a return as Dad in Bridget Joness Baby. Remus Lupin And Nymphadora Tonks
It seems only fitting to pair Remus Lupin with his wife, Nymphadora Tonks in this list, as they died like they lived in their final years, together. Lupin had a tough life. Likely among the toughest of the Harry Potter characters. As a werewolf, he was was an outcast among his fellow witches and wizards. He found friendship among the Mauraders. He found purpose among the Order of the Phoenix. And he found love with the brave and talented Tonks.
The two were able to have a brief marriage that included bringing a son into the world before they met their end during the Battle of Hogwarts. It’s especially heartbreaking to know that they died together, but even more devastating when we consider that they wouldn’t get to see their son, Teddy, grow up.

Deaths In Lord Voldemort’s Forces During The Battle Of Hogwarts
Scabior: After his time spent in Azkaban, Scabior became a Snatcher, a name for those who would catch Muggle-born wizards or anyone who didn’t support Lord Voldemort. Scabior led a group of Snatchers during the Battle of Hogwarts. When Voldemort destroyed the protection around the castle, Scabior and his army tried to cross through the Wooden Bridge. Neville cast a spell that caused the bridge to collapse and Scabior ultimately fell to his death with the other Snatchers.
Vincent Crabbe: Towards the end of his schooling, Crabbe became a Dark Wizard with the ability to cast deadly curses. While Voldemort’s supporters were seeking out Harry’s location during the battle, Crabbe, Goyle and Malfoy ran into the wizard in the Room of Requirement. Crabbe attempted to conjure a Fiendfyre to kill Harry, Ron, and Hermione. The curse backfired considering Crabbe never learned how to stop it so he was killed as the room was engulphed in flames.
Nagini: Prior to the Battle of Hogwarts, Nagini was placed in a Protective Magical Cage to keep her safe by her master, Lord Voldemort. He used the snake to kill Severus Snape during the tumultuous battle. When Harry was thought to be dead, Voldemort released Nagini from her cage. Since she was a Horcrux, she needed to be killed in order for Voldemort to be defeated. Neville stepped up yet again and beheaded the snake using Godric Gryffindor’s Sword.
Actor Robert Hardy Who Played Cornelius Fudge In The Harry Potter Series Died In 2017
The beauty of the Harry Potter film series was its ability to bring storied British actors all together on screen, and the films were certainly made better from Robert Hardy’s presence. The man who brought Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge to life, Hardy was a treasure of British cinema and stage, who died in 2017 at the age of 91.
As noted by the Observer, Hardy had a career in acting that spanned 70 years, but was remembered by his family as a man with many interests, talents, and loving traits. “Dad is also remembered as a meticulous linguist, a fine artist, a lover of music and a champion of literature, as well as a highly respected historian,” his children wrote in a statement after his death. “Gruff, elegant, twinkly, and always dignified, he is celebrated by all who knew him and loved him.”
Chris Rankin, the actor who played Percy Weasley, posted his thoughts about Hardy’s passing on Twitter shortly after his death. “BBC news tells me Robert Hardy, the Minister of Magic has died,” he wrote. “Terribly sad. He was a very kind man who told wonderful stories. xx.”

He Didn’t Need The Resurrection Stone
Upon going gentle into that good night, Harry awakened in what appeared to be a milky white vision of King’s Cross Station, where he’d hopped onto Platform 9¾ so many times before. Dumbledore awaited him with news that he’d successfully killed off the part of Voldemort that remained inside of him in the process of dying, and that he had a choice to board a train back to the realm of the living or to just move on … to where, he didn’t say.
Harry, knowing his battle wasn’t done, opted for the former. He left behind the scaly, fetal version of Voldemort that had infected his brain for so long, and used his perceived death to gain an advantage as Hagrid carried him back to the school, with an unknowing Voldemort bragging about his conquest to garner new recruits from the ravaged student pool.
The Effects Of Polyjuice Potion Aren’t Consistent In The Films
When Ron and Harry use Polyjuice Potion to transform into Crabbe and Goyle in the second book, Harry’s thoughts read, “… Then he realized that his glasses were clouding his eyes because Goyle obviously didn’t need them he took them off and called, ‘Are you two okay?’ Goyle’s low rasp of a voice issued from his mouth.”
This clearly tells readers that under the effects of the potion you take on both the vision and voice of the person you’ve become. But this isn’t what we see play out in the films.
For one thing, in the second movie, Harry keeps his glasses on until Draco questions it, insinuating that he doesn’t get Goyle’s vision from drinking the potion. That also creates a discrepancy in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1” when Hermione uses Polyjuice Potion to become Harry and remarks on how terrible his eyesight is.
Additionally, Ron and Harry maintain their own voices in the second movie, which is consistent with the characters who become Harry in the first “Deathly Hallows” film, but still inconsistent with the book’s description.
The inconsistencies continue when you take into account that when Barty Crouch Jr. uses Polyjuice Potion to impersonate Mad-Eye Moody in the fourth movie, his voice seemingly does transform.

Harry’s Supposed To See His Entire Family In The Mirror Of Erised Not Just His Parents
The Mirror of Erised shows its viewer their innermost desires, so it’s no surprise that when Harry looks at it, he sees the family he never knew.

Vincent Crabbe
Vincent Crabbe, 18, died May 2, during a fire at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Crabbe was in his seventh year of study at the school, where he excelled in the Dark Arts course taught by Amycus Carrow. He also was an avid Quidditch player, playing the position of beater for the Slytherin House team. Crabbes death has been ruled as an accident caused by the explosive power of a Fiendfyre spell he cast.
Colin Creevey
Colin Creevey, 17, died May 2, during the Battle of Hogwarts at the conclusion of the second war against He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Creevey, who was well-known for his photography and adoration for Harry Potter, was muggle born. The proud member of Dumbeldores Army was killed on the Hogwarts lawn fighting against the Death Eaters. He was a sixth-year student at Hogwarts. He is survived by his muggle parents and younger brother, Dennis Creevey.
