Astoria died in 2019, succumbing to a blood curse that had been placed on one of her ancestors. Astoria chose not to teach Scorpius to hate muggles, something that did not sit well with her in-laws.

In the third book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Rowling uses a time travel premise. Harry learns that his parents were betrayed to Voldemort by their friend Peter Pettigrew, who framed Harry’s godfather Sirius Black for the crimes, condemning him to Azkaban, the wizard prison. When Sirius escapes to find Harry, Harry and Hermione use a Time Turner to save him and a hippogriff named Buckbeak. When Pettigrew escapes, an innocent Sirius becomes a hunted fugitive once again. Harry learns how to create a Patronus, which takes the form of a stag, the same as his late father’s.

The Weasleys actually have a distant connection to the Blacks, too. Remember Arthur and Molly, the red-headed parental units to those troublesome Weasley kids? Both parents have connections to the Black family. Most notably, Arthurâs mother Cedrellaâs maiden name was Black. She would have been a distant cousin to Sirius. Of course, when she married Septimus Weasley, her name was burnt from the family tree.
Meanwhile, Mollyâs Aunt Lucretia was also a Black before she married into the Prewitt family. Seem confusing? Like we said: Itâs a bit of a forest rather than one single family tree. The branches all grow together eventually! Then, of course, it gets even more convoluted when you consider all of Molly and Arthurâs children and their various relationships.

Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets
In the second book, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Rowling pits Harry against Tom Riddle, Lord Voldemort’s “memory” within a secret diary which has possessed Ron’s younger sister Ginny. When Muggle-born students are suddenly being Petrified, many suspect that Harry may be behind the attacks, further alienating him from his peers. Furthermore, Harry begins to doubt his worthiness for House of Gryffindor, particularly considering he discovers he shares Lord Voldemort’s ability to communicate with snakes via Parseltongue. In the climax, Ginny disappears. To rescue her, Harry battles Riddle and the monster he controls that is hidden in the Chamber of Secrets. To defeat the monster, Harry summons the Sword of Godric Gryffindor from the Sorting Hat supplied by Dumbledore’s pet phoenix, Fawkes. In doing so, Dumbledore later restores Harry’s self-esteem by explaining that that feat is clear proof of his worthiness of his present house.

Fleamont Potter was so named because his paternal grandmother didn’t want her surname to die out. To keep a promise to his dead mother, Henry, his father, named his son Fleamont. Because of this very strange name, he was often teased and thus, became a great duelist to protect himself.
Cygnus Black Iii And Druella Rosier
Cygnus Black III was the third and final child of Pollux and Irma Black. He was born in 1938 and married Druella Rosier. Druella was a pure-blooded witch from the Rosier family, which was also one of the pure blood families that strongly believed in their superiority.
Cygnus Black III and Druella Rosier had three children, all girls. Bellatrix, born in 1951, Andromeda in 1952, and Narcissa Black, their youngest daughter, in 1955. One Of The Oldest Families In The Wizarding World
The Black family is an ancient one, and its history is part of what makes it so entitled. The members of the Black family that we meet throughout the Harry Potter series are all in some way influenced by the Blacks extended history. The pure-blooded family believes that it must keep itself that way in part because of their long history.
Blacks are traditionally sorted into Slytherin, and those kinds of traditions carry a ton of weight when the family history is so extended. Sirius’ sorting into Gryffindor was an early sign that he didn’t fit in.
Of course, being from an ancient family doesnt really give anyone an excuse to act haughty and stuck up, or to be bigoted against others to the point of wanting them killed or enslaved.
Regulus Learned About The Horcruxes Because Voldemort Let It Slip
Voldemort is an arrogant man, and that is ultimately an enormous factor in bringing him down. Secretly, Voldemort wants approval more than anything else. He wants people to look at all that hes accomplished, and admit that theyre impressed by it. Of course, Voldemort is most proud of his Horcruxes his last secret, the way he manages to defy death.
Voldemort is so proud of this particular accomplishment that he unintentionally brags about it whenever he gets the chance. In the graveyard where he is reborn in Goblet of Fire, he says that he knew he would rise again because he took steps to prevent his death – a direct suggestion of Horcruxes. Its also implied that this is not the first time that Voldemort has hinted at the Horcruxes.
Theres a suggestion that Voldemort made a similar comment, which gave Regulus a chance to track down one of them.

The Family Motto Means Always Pure
The Black family motto is Toujours Pur, which means Always Pure in French. This motto is reflective of the way that the Black family sees itself, not through personality or values, but through “blood purity.” The Black family is uninterested in being brave, valiant, or honest. All they have ever cared about is preserving their own purity.
Its easy to see why Sirius was so frustrated by the Black familys complete apathy toward any sort of values. These are nasty people, and they value their own blood over all else. It may seem cruel for a young boy to leave his family forever, but in Siriuss case, it actually seems appropriate.
The best thing that ever happened at Grimmauld Place happened after most of the Black family had died out, and had been replaced by people who were willing to fight against everything the Blacks believed in – the Order of the Phoenix.
