Harry Potter Camp Day 1

My kiddos knew that I was running a themed camp this week, but Id asked their mum not to tell them what the theme would be. Instead, I kpet them indoors until everything was ready to go, and when I led them into the outdoor camp space, they found a little owl on the table with letters for each of them. I just re-wrote the Hogwarts letter from book 1 to suit my needs.

Next, we chose our houses. Id had a backup activity planned to prevent drama over who would be in which house, but luckily, they all happily chose different houses, so we were good to go with B7 as Hufflepuff, G5 as Gryffindor, and G2 as Slytherin. I showed them the jars and bead stash for house points, and let them start with 5 each. We came back to this throughout the week. They earned points for winning games, doing their best work on projects, or doing something unusually nice or thoughtful, and lost points for poor behaviour.

Harry Potter Camp Day 3

We started off the day with a challenge: could they make Harrys glasses – and attach a scar – using pipe cleaners?

Once they were happy with their glasses, we headed to the park for a couple activities.

First was Basilisk Bubbles. I cut the bottoms off empty plastic waterbottles, and we rubber-banded socks to the opening. Dip them in bubble solution, then blow through the mouth opening where you would normally drink, and a big foamy snake of bubbles comes out the other side. We experimented with adding food coloring to try to get them green, but didnt have heaps of luck. G2 enjoyed playing with the piles of bubbles that were left on the ground once she grew bored of making the snakes.

Our other park activity was a Wingardrium Leviosa race. I gave each of them a blown up balloon, and we did variations on races while keeping the balloon in the air. It was a little windy this day, so we made our race distances super short, and while they occasionally struggled to keep control of their balloon, it was still a lot of fun!

This day, we had a friend of B7 come to join us. During the free choice time at the end of the morning, he taught us how to draw a landscape of Hogwarts castle. Then, by popular demand, we played a few more rounds of pin-the-scar.

Harry Potter And The Cursed Child Comes To San Francisco

For over 20 years, fans of all ages have been drawn to the books and movies of the Harry Potter series. From the moment the world was introduced to the boy with a lightning bolt scar on his forehead, people cracked open the first chapters of a literary series that sparked a global phenomenon.

Harry Potter

Harry Potter addicts didnt want to say goodbye. Luckily, they didnt have to. When producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender pitched the idea of a stage production that would pick up where the epilogue of the last book left off, Rowling was intrigued. She was interested in exploring a new story that followed Harry, the boy who grew up with no parents, as he journeyed through fatherhood. Rowling began working with Friedman, Callender, director John Tiffany and playwright Jack Thorne to craft what became the continuation of the Harry Potter story.

With a story line by Rowling, Thorne and Tiffany, the play HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD debuted at the Palace Theater in London in 2016, presented in two parts to universal acclaim. It wasnt long before American audiences, hungry for HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILDto land on Broadway, had their wishes granted.

HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD opened on Broadway in April 2018 at the Lyric Theatre, and is now the most awarded play in theatre history with 24 major UK theatre awards and 25 major U.S. awards, including six Tony Awards .
