Things That Happened After The Harry Potter Books Ended

As told by J.K. Rowling. In a series of interviews over the years, the author has revealed the future of the Harry Potter characters, far beyond the Deathly Hallows epilogue.

J.K. Rowling:

“Kingsley became permanent Minister for Magic, and naturally he wanted Harry to head up his new Auror department… The Ministry of Magic was de-corrupted, and with Kingsley at the helm the discrimination that was always latent there was eradicated. Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny et al would of course play a significant part in the re-building of wizarding society through their future careers.”

The Words Cut Into Them

Speaking of Bellatrix Lestrange, she is also part of the link that Harry and Hermione share, but it is certainly not a happy memory. Throughout their adventures they both experienced some traumatizing things, and unfortunately they have scars that will not let them forget about it.

Harrys deranged detention with Professor Umbridge resulted in her applying her unique brand of punishment with a self-harming quill which dug the words I Must Not Tell Lies into Harrys hand. In an even more harmful situation, Lestrange carved the word Mudblood into Hermiones arm in an attempt to permanently scar her with something she considered vile.

Each of these situations is one that they would like to forget, but these harmful words are etched into their memories forever.

Restored Her Parents Memories

One of the saddest things to happen to Hermione is that she erased her parents memory of her to protect them. This was extremely hard to witness and must have been tough on the character to know that if something happened to her during the Battle of Hogwarts, her parents would have no recollection of their daughter. Hermione made her parents believe they were a childless couple, Monica and Wendell Wilkins. Hermione altered their memories to make them believe they had always dreamed of moving to Australia. Hermione’s parents did exactly that, leaving Britain unaware of the dangers their daughter faced.

This decision might have not only saved her parents lives, but also Hermione’s. Death Eaters were unsuccessful at tracking Hermione or her parents down. If they had got hold of Hermione’s parents, they could have used them to make Hermione surrender. J.K. Rowling confirmed that after the Second Wizarding War ended Hermione travelled to Australia and resorted her parents memories. She brought them back home to the UK and we would like to believe they’re still practising dentists. They’re also probably busy being grandparents to their two grand-kids, Rose and Hugo.

Harry Defended Hermione From Cho Chang

Cho Chang first caught Harrys eye in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and his feelings for her would only continue to grow over the years, culminating in the two of them going on a date during Order of the Phoenix.

Unfortunately, during Harrys one and only date with Cho, she began to show jealousy towards his relationship with Hermione and made the assumption that they were romantically involved and even went as far as to insult her.

Harry was quick to defend his friend from Chos insults, which put a strain on their relationship.

While Harry and Hermione have never been romantically involved, that has not stopped many others from assuming that they two of them are together.

Harry And Eventually Ron Joined The Auror Department At The Ministry Of Magic Hermione Became A High

In Harry Potter What Year Did Hermione Granger Start Working At The Ministry

In Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and many quotes from J.K. Rowling, I think Hermione Granger starts to work at the Ministry in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, becomes the deputy Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, and eventually becomes Minister of Magic. Is there any clue to when Hermione starts to work at the Ministry?

Ron Married Padma Patil

In the same alternate timeline where Hermione becomes a mean Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, Ron went on to marry Padma Patil. They had a son named Panju Weasley.

The creative choices made with this alternate timeline may have caused some fans to reconsider their feelings on certain subjects. For example, some fans don’t like that Ron and Hermione ended up together, but the alternate timeline seems in part to try and convince these fans that a world where Ron and Hermione don’t end up together is a world for the worse. It’s a world where both characters grow into an unhappy, dissatisfying adulthood.

Do Hermione And Ron Stay Together

As any fan who has completed the series knows, that ultimately wasn’t the case. Instead, Hermione and Ron wind up getting married, and Harry ends up with Ginny, Ron’s sister. Those pairings seemed odd to some readers, in part because of certain lines that seemed to hint at different pairings near the end of the series.

Hermione Became The Defense Against The Dark Arts Professor

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child follows Albus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy using a stolen Time-Turner with disastrous results. Meddling with time creates multiple alternate realities, during the first of which it is revealed that Hermione became the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts. In this timeline, she never married Ron and in extension never gave birth to Rose or Hugo Weasley. She’s described as being a mean professor, though it seems she’s held onto her position longer than any of the Defense Against the Dark teachers did from when she was a student at Hogwarts.

The alternate reality is obviously intended to show a worse version of the magical world as a result of Albus and Scorpius meddling with the Time-Turner. With this in mind, it’s worth considering that an unmarried and childless Hermione is portrayed as mean. Harry Potter is in many ways a feminist story, but the suggestion that not marrying Ron and having children would make Hermione a mean person is not feminist at all. It’s also worth considering that being a Hogwarts professor doesn’t seem to make her happy either, while she’s portrayed as much more content working at the Ministry of Magic in the original timeline.

Why did Harry stop liking Cho? Cho didnt like Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger she believed that Harry had romantic feelings for Hermione, instead of being friends. This was one of the reasons that Cho and Harry fell apart.

We assume Hermione’s successes and accomplishments, which let’s face it are pretty extensive, will all be listed beside her name. What we’d love to know, but probably won’t get a chance to, is which one of their cards is seen as more rare than the others? Ron Carries On Fred Weasleys Legacy

After Freds passing in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Ron continues the Weasleys Wizard Wheezes business with his brother, George. And beyond running a joke shop, Ron has really leaned into his fun dad and fun uncle status during the play, often playing the joker in the family. In one cute scene, Ron is seen amusing Harrys daughter, Lily, who finds Uncle Ron hilarious. During their quest to locate and destroy Voldemorts Horcruxes, Ron became vehemently frustrated about their progress. It resulted in a very large fight which caused Ron to leave the group. During his dramatic exit, he anticipated that Hermione would accompany him, yet she chose to stay with Harry and carry out the mission.

Thankfully the group would end up being reunited, however the fact still remains that her initial instinct was to remain with Harry, not Ron.

The following morning may have been met with a scenario not so different from coughing up slugs and slime into one of Hagrid’s giant buckets.

A Final Kiss And Sacrifice

That fascinating and exhilarating band of resistance comes together to try and help Scorpius right the timeline. Due to complications this happens twice and the second time, both Umbridge and Dementors get in their way, but Snape, Ron and Hermione do everything in their power to help Scorpius escape and make things right. Snape finally admits his true loyalties to Umbridge, as he strikes her with a Banishing Charm and is then attacked by Dementors.

About to be attacked by Dementors, Ron and Hermione finally act on their romantic feelings in this timeline. They profess their love for each other and kiss. They sacrifice their souls to the Dementors, so Scorpius can escape and fix the timeline.

This moment is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. It’s important to remember that in this timeline where Voldemort emerged victorious, so Ron and Hermione have lost everyone they cared about and loved. After all that suffering and loss and years in hiding, it’s beautiful to see them finally share this moment of opening up and admitting their love for one another. It’s equally heartbreaking, though, as only seconds later the Dementors suck out their souls.

Thank goodness the timeline was eventually fixed and this is not the end for Ron and Hermione.
