As a result, swarms of Dementors dark, faceless beings that suck the soul out of their victims and serve as the guards of Azkaban infiltrate Hogwarts to patrol for Black, whos supposedly after Harry next. To make matters worse, our normally steadfast hero has a bad reaction to the Dementors, which cause him to faint on a train and even lose a critical Quidditch match.
Again, though, its not all doom and gloom. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban also features Professor Remus Lupin, the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher and a school friend of Harrys late father. Lupin and Harry quickly forge a father-son-like relationship themselves, and Lupin teaches Harry the Patronus Charm to protect himself from Dementors.
Meanwhile, Ron and Hermione are squabbling even more than usual over their respective pets, Crookshanks the cat and Scabbers the rat. But what seems like a lighthearted subplot turns out to be a major factor in one of the biggest twists of the series, revealed in the last few chapters and which naturally involves Black and Lupin as well. Oh, and hippogriffs and time traveling, in case that wasnt enough to sell you on it.

Indeed, the books small, moving moments such as Harry being floored by a gift from Rons mother, or Hermiones tearful declaration at the end about books and cleverness are just as magical as the spells themselves.

Reports surfaced in 2012 that Rowling was working on a crime novel, but the author stayed silent about what she’d write next.
In April of 2013, Little Brown published “The Cuckoo’s Calling,” about the fictional detective Cormoran Strike and his ambitious assistant Robin Ellacott. It was purported to have been written by a guy named Robert Galbraith. Reviews were good and sales were unremarkable.
A family friend of one of Rowling’s lawyers let slip that Galbraith was, in fact, a pen name for J.K. Rowling. On Amazon, sales of “The Cuckoo’s Calling” rose by more than 150,000%. She’s since written two more “Cormoran Strike” novels, “The Silkworm” and “Career of Evil,” and said she plans to write more “Strike” novels than “Harry Potter.” The books are being adapted into a miniseries for the BBC.
The Chronicles Of Prydain
Lloyd Alexander‘s five-volume Prydain Chronicles, begun in 1964 with The Book of Three and concluding in 1968 with “The High King”, features a young protagonist, an assistant pig keeper named Taran, who wishes to be a great hero in a world drawn from Welsh mythology. Entertainment Weekly cited Lloyd Alexander as a possible influence on Rowling when it named her its 2007 Entertainer of the Year. When Alexander died in 2007, his obituary in New York Magazine drew many comparisons between Harry Potter and Prydain and said that “The High King is everything we desperately hope Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be.”

In Addition To Her Creative Work She’s A Major Philanthropist
Rowling has founded and supported dozens of charities with her fortune. In 2003, she said she sets aside one day a week to do “charity stuff.”
One of them is Comic Relief, an anti-poverty charity that gets the proceeds from sales of the “Quidditch Through the Ages” and “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” books. She is also the president of Gingerbread, which supports single parents, and she has donated millions to the study of multiple sclerosis, which her mother suffered from before her death.
Her biggest effort may be Lumos, named for the “Harry Potter” spell that conjures light. The organization seeks to end the institutionalization of children. All of the proceeds from sales of “Tales of Beedle the Bard” go to the charity.
Rowling also wrote and auctioned off a prequel short story from the “Harry Potter” universe, about James Potter and Sirius Black escaping a few muggle cops. The copy was later stolen.

Deathly Hallows begins with a pair of epigraphs, one from Quaker leader William Penn‘s More Fruits of Solitude and one from Aeschylus‘ The Libation Bearers. “I really enjoyed choosing those two quotations because one is pagan, of course, and one is from a Christian tradition”, Rowling said. “I’d known it was going to be those two passages since ‘Chamber’ was published. I always knew if I could use them at the beginning of book seven then I’d cued up the ending perfectly. If they were relevant, then I went where I needed to go. They just say it all to me, they really do.”

Harry Potter Books Into Tv/movies
From the perspective of filmography, the greatly penned Harry Potter series has been made into film adaptations. Philosophers Stone was filmed and produced in 2001 with Daniel Radcliffe being the star. Chamber of Secrets was adapted into a fantasy film and produced in 2002 the starring actor is still Daniel Radcliffe. Prisoner of Azkaban also has a related film adaptation, and starred Daniel Radcliffe. Goblet of Fire was adapted for silver screen in 2005 with the said star. Rowlings Harry Potter-based 2005 book, Half-Blood Prince, had silver screen-adaptation and premiered in 2009. Daniel Radcliffe is still the starring. Her 2007 book called Deathly Hallows was been filmed and it premiered in 2010.

Director Christopher Columbus, who directed the first two Potter films, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and other actors from the eight films will gather for a journey back to Hogwarts to discuss the making of Harry Potter and the impact of the franchise, according to HBO Max. It will be the first time they’ve reunited for such a project since the final film premiered in 2011, the streaming service said.
However, while Rowling will be featured in archived footage, she will not be appearing for the special, a source close to the production confirmed to NPR. They did not comment on why Rowling will not appear or whether she was asked to participate and declined.

Characters From Harry Potter Books Who Did Not Appear In The Movies
It is now 20 years since the first Harry Potter movie Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone was released. The eight movies, based on the books written by British author JK Rowling, went on to become one of the blockbuster hits of Hollywood. The movies gave us some of the iconic characters like Harry, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Hagrid, Dumbledore, and more. But those who have read the Harry Potter series know that not all the characters mentioned in the books made it to its screen adaptation.

Rodolphus Lestrange
In the Harry Potter movies audiences got to see Bellatrix Lestrange, played by Helena Bonham Carter, however, in the books, Bellatrix also had a husband, Rodolphus Lestrange. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows
Or as its known colloquially, Harry Potter and the Worst Camping Trip Ever. After the events of the previous book culminating in another major characters heartbreaking death Harry vows to personally destroy every one of Voldemorts Horcruxes. These Horcruxes are objects containing pieces of Voldemorts soul, rendering him effectively immortal. Which means that if Harry wants even a chance at killing Voldemort face-to-face, hell need to locate and eliminate the Horcruxes first. Its this daunting prospect that leads to the Worst Camping Trip Ever though of course, its brightened somewhat by the presence of the ever-faithful Ron and Hermione.
To be fair, the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows arent as quotidianly miserable as the events of OotP at least we know the characters are suffering for a greater purpose. But that doesnt stop this from being, as you might expect, the darkest book in the series. From the corrupting influence of a locket that causes Ron to abandon his friends, to the tragic prophecy that Harry uncovers through more of Snapes past memories, this book truly tests the readers tolerance for beloved characters in distress.
Rowling Had Difficult Years When She Was Younger
Rowling never had it as bad as Harry living with the Dursleys, but she described her teenage years as being filled with difficulty.
“I wasnt particularly happy. I think its a dreadful time of life,” she told the New Yorker.
When Rowling was 15, her mother was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. She died a decade later, before Rowling became a published author. Later on, one of her philanthropic projects was founding the Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic at the University of Edinburgh with a gift of $16 million.
