Worst: The Sorting Hat 4701
This set was designed to fit into the Great Hall of the Hogwarts Castle which was out at the same time but I just cant see how it fits at all. Everything about it just feels wrong.
The hat is shiny, the wrong color and entirely too new.
Im also not a fan of the spinner which, while a nice idea in theory, just looks clunky and out of place. This set is a classic case of nice idea poorly executed.

Outside of the castle itself, few locations say Harry Potter more than the Hogwarts Express. Its downright iconic, and this kit does an amazing job shrinking that train down into brick form.
Containing more than a few nods to the series , this is one of Legos cooler adaptations. Thats because youre not just getting the steam engine itself a miniature Platform 9¾ can be found here as well, including the magic wall you run through to reach the train. When combined with minifigures for Harry, Ron, Hermione, Professor Lupin, a Dementor, and the Trolley Witch, this set is packed with nostalgia.
Reasons to avoid
The best Harry Potter merchandise can be pricey, and the Lego range is no different. With that in mind, this kit is well worth a look despite being very cheap, it still manages to embody the magic of the series with a clever, transforming build.
Thats because there are two scenes at play here while one depicts the boy wizards Charms classroom , it can also fold up into a Charms book featuring the Hogwarts school crest.
Reasons to avoid
OK, so its expensive. Very expensive. But if you want the best Harry Potter merch, it doesnt get much better than this. Recreating Hogwarts School in all its glory, its an enormous set with more than 6,000 pieces and 27 micro-figures.

Worst: Harry Potter Quidditch Tower Tru01
This set is one of the smallest made for the series, it is also the only one which has no minifigures with it. The reason for its inclusion here, however, is not down to either of these facts.
The set itself is a Quidditch tower which matches the style of the Quidditch practice set out at the same time.
While it looks basic my main issue with it is the color. Allegedly it is Ravenclaw and Hufflepuffs tower but the Hufflepuff side is a sludgy brown rather than the vibrant yellow it should be. Why? We know yellow bricks exist so theres no excuse for this.
How Much Do They Cost
The cost of the Lego advent calendar depends on which calendar you buy – the branded calendars like Marvel, Star Wars and Harry Potter all cost £24.99, whereas the friends and city calendars are £19.99.
You can get free standard two to four business day deliveries on orders over £50, otherwise standard delivery costs £3.95. You can bump your order up to express delivery, but that option costs £21.
For standard delivery, Lego says that it should take between two and four business days to get to you, but you should allowed your delivery an extra day to get to the following areas: Aberdeen, Isle of Man, Inverness, Kilmarnock, Kirkwall, Lerwick, Outer Hebrides, Paisley and Perth.

Lego Harry Potter Reveals 8 New Sets For Summer 2021 Available To Pre
The core Harry Potter books and movies may be wrapped up now, but the merchandising is still chugging along at top speed. Today, LEGO has unveiled the summer 2021 wave of Harry Potter sets, which brings new additions to the modular Hogwarts castle series, a chess set, and even a totally new series: giant brick-built minifigures. LEGO says that a selection of the sets is available for pre-order starting today, though at the time of writing they havent clarified specifically which sets will be available. With prices ranging from $20 to $130 USD, all of the sets will be released on June 1, though most of them are exclusive to specific retailers until August 1.
2021 marks the 20th anniversary of the LEGO Harry Potter theme, and LEGO is celebrating with this summers sets. Six of the sets include the 20th Anniversary logo on the box and contain a special bonus.
Each of these six sets includes an exclusive golden minifigure, much like LEGO did with Star Wars figures in 2019. Youll need to buy all six sets to get the full collection.
And speaking of collection, LEGO has also introduced Collectible Wizard Cards, which appear to be printed 2×2 tiles. A random assortment of Wizard Cards are included in the 20th Anniversary sets. Youll get two in the smaller sets, on up to six in the expensive Hogwarts Chamber of Secrets. LEGO has not yet revealed how many unique cards there are, or if theyll be included in future sets.

Worst: Troll On The Loose 4712
This set, based on a scene in the first book and movie, has two major flaws. The first is that the troll minifigure just looks ridiculous. Not only is it blue but it also looks weirdly proportioned, even for a troll.
Secondly, this set contains only a Harry Potter minifigure. In both the movie and the book this scene heavily features Hermione. Excluding her from this set means that it is a Lego set of Harry in the girl’s bathroom, on his own.

Worst: Gryffindor House 4722
Im not sure where to even start with this bizarre brightly colored recreation of what is allegedly part of the Gryffindor tower. While I can see the painting of the fat lady who guards the Gryffindor common room, the garish color scheme just doesnt work.
What appears to be a canopy over the bed isnt helping either as the set appears less based on either the book or movie and more based on a toddlers painting. The style is just so badly mismatched with all the other sets I cant understand how this one got through.

Set in a three-story building it includes a swiveling armchair, secret hiding place, secret entrance, and moving staircase. It also connects to the Hogwarts castle set from the same year.
The set was also the only set to contain Professor McGonagall until the 2010 Hogwarts castle, which features a redesigned version.
Should You Buy It 75979 Hedwig
After my first taste of the world of Harry Potter with Diagon Alley I am back with my second Wizardy set review. As part of my latest order from LEGO I decided to add in 75979 Hedwig simply because it seemed to be really popular. Its also pretty cool looking.
In the opinion of somebody who doesnt know his butterbeer from his Buckbeak, should you buy it?
Are you a Harry Potter fan and/or an ornithophile? Then you should definitely buy it. If you are not either of those things then Id honestly still say consider it.
The majority of Harry Potter sets fall under the category of play sets, rather than beautifully designed display pieces. Im not saying you cant display the other sets just that they are designed for kids to interact with them. This feels like an acknowledgement from LEGO that there are Harry Potter fans looking for display pieces but not everybody can afford a Hogwarts Castle or Diagon Alley.
If you are an adult Harry Potter fan you could absolutely get away with having this model on display on a bookcase or even on your desk at a workplace.
The build is not particularly complicated, but being a model with a functional element you will have to deal with some Technic elements such as gears. At the end of the day this is still a set designed for kids to build rather than an 18+ set. You should be able to knock this one out in one session rather than having to split it up.

Worst: Harry And The Hungarian Horntail 4767
The worst part about this set is that its so close to being a great set but its ruined by the dragon. The background is quite promising. I love the golden egg, the viewing stands and even the detail of the dragon’s chain holding him down.
The part which lets it down is the dragon itself.
Usually, dragons are spot on but here I think Lego has made an error trying to adapt it to make it look different to regular Lego dragons. I understand why but unfortunately it just doesnt work.
