Even though the movies are currently streaming on HBO Max, from time to time you can also watch them on NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock. As previously mentioned, all eight movies, from Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II, will be removed from HBO Max as of August 25. Those films will be made available for streaming through Peacock in October, and theyll be open for the public to stream throughout the month. After which point, those films will go back into the vault, so to speak, and be released back onto Peacocks lineup in windows throughout 2021. Harry Potter and his fellow Hogwarts students are set to apparate to a new streaming service this September.
The eight movies have moved around a lot recently. From May to August 2020, the films were on HBO Max, only to move to Peacock. They briefly returned to HBO Max for a month in June 2021 before leaving for Peacock again. Two months after they arrived at the NBC Universal streaming service, they are set to move again.

Harry Potter isnt even the only series to encounter this fate in recent months, and Peacock strangely enough has seen itself at the mercy of such agreements itself. While the Jurassic Park trilogy was available for Peacocks opening day push, those first three films in the entire Jurassic saga were shuttled back to their previous home at Netflix as of August 1. As another taunt to the HBO Max librarys supremacy, it currently has to share Batman Begins and The Dark Knight with Hulu, as well as Peacock, which will have those first two movies in the future as well.
In a world where Netflix saw Warner Bros making it pay for an extra year of Friends, and Peacock making a deal to get The Office back in time for its launch, the streaming market seems more volatile than ever. The original cast of the Harry Potter series including Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint are set to reunite for a TV special 20 years after the first film screened.
HBO Max said the Return to Hogwarts will be released on 1 January 2022 – making a magical start to the New Year.
The trio will join American filmmaker Chris Columbus to discuss the films and explore their creation in depth.
However, the creator of Harry Potter, author JK Rowling, does not appear to be joining them for the milestone. It comes after she made some about the trans community last year.
Rowling, 56, was involved in the making of the films, with Warner Bros taking considerable notice of her desires – including the films being shot in Britain with an all-British cast.
The special was announced exactly 20 years on from the US release of the first film, Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone, on 16 November 2001.
Fans will be invited “on a magical first-person journey through one of the most beloved film franchises of all time”, HBO Max said.
