Weekend Estimates: Beauty And The Beast Sets New March Record
Beauty and the Beast set out this weekend to show that its not just super heroes who can deliver big openings at the box office, and its doing so in some style. Disney is projecting a $170 million opening weekend for the live action fairytale, and the film is setting records around the world. At home, itll have the biggest March weekend of all time, and the fourth-best Saturday of all time. The studio is projecting it will have the sixth-best Sunday in history, although my money would be on it slightly outperforming today, for the fifth-best Sunday, and that it will challenge Iron Man 3s $174 million for the sixth-best opening of all time. Where To Watch The Harry Potter Movies
As of December 2021, you can find all eight original Harry Potter movies on HBO Max and also on Peacock.
Due to various rights issues, the two streamers have traded the Harry Potter movie collection between them. Now, they appear to be sharing for at least a period of time.
The two Fantastic Beasts films Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald are not on any streaming service. You will need to rent or purchase them from a digital retailer.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows
The much-anticipated ending for the saga was initially thought of as a single movie. However, the production ended up splitting Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows into two parts.
The movies were shot simultaneously between February 2009 and June 2010.
The first part was released in November 2010 and covered the last book until Chapter 24, when Voldemort regains the Elder Wand.
While many fans criticized the decision, almost all actors supported cutting the movie into two parts to correctly present the ending arc without rushing its pace or leaving out essential scenes.

Emma Watson is just a year older than Hermione at this point, Emma is 19/20 years old, while Hermione is 18/19 years old.
Draco was supposed to be 17/18 years old for the first part of the final book, but Tom Felton was already 22/23 when filming his scenes.
Neville Longbottom is also 17/18 years old for the Deathly Hallows book, while Matthew Lewis is 20/21 when filming. That makes him three years older than his fictional counterpart!

There will be a new play about Harry Potter told from the script of his eighth book this summer. The script of this stage play is the basis of the eighth Harry Potter book. Upon the night of the plays premiere, 31 July, it will make its way to bookstores as a hardcover edition of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts I & II.

There are three wide releases, but only two of them have any chance of becoming more than a midlevel hit. Free Birds is a digitally animated family film that has a very timely release, but it is also a second-tier CG animated film. Ender’s Game is a $110 million film based on a book aimed at young adults. It is yet another film trying to tap into the vacuum left behind by Harry Potter. I don’t think either of them will be big hits, but one of them has to be the target film. I think Free Birds will have better legs, but that Ender’s Game will have a better opening. As such, it is the target film for this week’s box office prediction contest. In order to win, one must simply predict the opening weekend box office number for Ender’s Game. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them pulled in $8.75 million during its midnight shows last night. Thats good, but a little lower than expected and not even the best of the fall so far. It was beaten by Doctor Strange, which earned $9.4 million just two weeks ago. Worse still, Fantastic Beasts‘ reviews have fallen to 74% positive. Thats still good for a blockbuster release, but it is the lowest in the Harry Potter franchise and will likely hurt the films box office performance over the weekend. How To Watch Harry Potter Movies Online
Since September 1, all eight of the Harry Potter movies are available to stream on HBO Max in the US which is hardly surprising, seeing as the Warner Bros-owned streaming platform will consider the hit franchise as an excellent way to attract new subscribers. The movies were previously available via the Peacock service, though, and you can also rent or buy the series on services like Amazon.
In the UK, you can’t currently stream the Harry Potter movies, but you can rent or buy them on Amazon, iTunes and more. HBO Max is expected to launch on British shores soon, but we’re unsure when that’ll be The complete Harry Potter series is also available on Blu-Ray.
Meanwhile, the two Fantastic Beasts movies aren’t currently streaming in the US or the UK.

Draco did not have any feelings towards Hermione, most likely due to his familys beliefs tied to the blood status of witches and wizards. The Harry Potter Films Take Place In The 2000’s
The films, on the other hand, do not take place in the 1990s. While it is not specified in the dialogue of the first film, it can be inferred from the modern haircuts, technology, and a primary school certificate for Dudley Dursley that it takes place in the year 2001.
The books and films take place from 1991-1998 and between 2001-2008, respectively, though it’s easy to get confused, considering the final book was released in 2007 and the final film in 2011.
But there are plenty of debates online between fans who consider the films to have taken place in the same timeline as the books. One reddit user points out that in the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 graveyard scene, “Harry’s parents’ headstone still says they died in 1981” and another said that the movies also take place in ’90s, but it was “laziness” on the part of the filmmakers to include aspects of modern day.
It would likely be easier for everyone if we had access to a time-turner.
Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone
While it may not be as flashy, refined, or impressive as the rest of the films in the franchise, Sorcerers Stone deserves immense credit for setting up this series so wonderfully, and laying a fantastic foundation off of which the other films could be built. Director Chris Columbus was not only responsible for putting together the incredible cast, but he also captured Rowlings wizarding world on film in a manner that felt relatable and wholly transfixing. Sorcerers Stone is told through the eyes of an 11-year-old, and so the film was always going to skew a bit younger than subsequent installments, but Columbus refuses to talk down to his audience and wisely sidesteps delving into cartoony kids movie land.
And even though its tonally the lightest film of the bunch, Sorcerers Stone still works wonderfully as a fantastic entry in the Potter franchise. The winning combination of charm and smarts permeates throughout, and Columbus nails the founding friendship of our three heroes, culminating in a grand finale that lets each one of them shine. Who can resist adorable Ron Weasley commanding a giant chess set with gusto as he sits atop a stone knight?

Harry Potter was conceived on a train traveling from Manchester to London Kings Cross in 1990, when Rowling got stranded for several hours. Though it was noted that the series has “complicated rights issues”, due to a seven-year rights deal with Warner Bros. Weekend Prediction: Is Grindelwald Committing Crimes Against The Harry Potter Franchise
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is the latest installment in the Harry Potter franchise, but sadly, its reviews are, by far, the worst in the franchise. It should still have no trouble earning first place and will very likely break even just on its international numbers, but this is still troubling for its future. The second biggest release of the week is Instant Family and its reviews are good, but not great. They are certainly fine for a family comedy. Widows is the best-reviewed new release, but its buzz is quiet enough that it will barely finish in the top five. Meanwhile, A Private War is expanding nationwide and that could help it earn a spot in the top ten, but I wouldnt bet on it. Weekend Predictions: Moana Takes On Beast Over Thanksgiving Weekend
Thanksgiving weekend is one of the most lucrative weekends of the year and this time around we could have a relatively close battle between a new release, Moana, and last weeks number one film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
