The Philosopher’s Stone: Can’t Stand Each Other
In the first installment of the franchise, Ron and Hermione can’t stand each other – until the very end, at least. The pair first meet on the train, where Ron is attempting to teach Harry a ‘spell’ his brothers gave him, and where Hermione immediately rubs him the wrong way. For much of the first movie she is characterized as a ‘know it all’, and both Ron and Harry find her insufferable. It’s not until they take down a Mountain Troll together that they become friends, and at this point, that’s all it is.
She Didn’t Think Much Of Him
When you end your first meeting by pointing out someone has dirt on their face it doesnt exactly scream instant attraction. Hermione didnt show Ron much care when they first met the pleasure which she mentioned at meeting him was dryly delivered.
Of course, Ron was being the hound he is with food at the time, being eleven-years-old, didnt consider being smooth or welcoming to her. Hermione was more impressed at sharing a compartment with Harry than Rons company. She even made fun of Rons spell being not very good. In all fairness, the spell wasnt an actual spell to begin with.

Desperate times call for desperate measures, esepcially if you’re a desperate man like Ron Weasley. By the time of the Deathly Hallows, Ron had finally begun to realize that he had a thing for bookworm Hermione. The book is exactly what it sounds a magical dating help book.
