What Is Voldemort’s Wand Made Of

Jk Rowling Doesnt Recommend Going Out With Him

How to Make a Voldemort Wand

Although Draco was loving towards his parents, J.K. Rowling has said numerous times that she doesnt get why so many fans fall for him, even describing herself as unnerved by it. Despite having a moral core that meets the absolute minimum standards for decency, Draco was not in any way a nice person. She does not discount the appeal of Tom Felton, who plays Draco brilliantly in the films, but even he has said he thinks Ron Weasley would be a much better boyfriend.

Im not too sure Draco would be a good boyfriend. Ron however?

It’s The Same Wand Just Redesigned

None of the movie wands were special-looking in the first two films. Prisoner of Azkaban introduced the personalized wands, and the trend remained throughout the subsequent films. Before that, all wands pretty much looked identical – a simple black or dark brown wooden stick. So that’s why they look different – there was a redesign of nearly all the wands .

As pointed out in CreationEdge’s answer, the wand used by young Tom Riddle is a simple, dark-colored wand. Just as Harry’s wand is the “same wand” in all eight1 films even though it looked different in the first two films, I would say that it follows that Voldemort’s bone-looking yew wand is the same wand seen being used by Tom Riddle in Chamber of Secrets. The reason it looks different is simply that it too was redesigned, just like Harry’s was.

We know that Voldemort’s bone-looking wand is the same one he got from Ollivander. See Au101’s answer for quotes from the book.

A possible in-universe explanation could be that, at some point after Chamber of Secrets, Voldemort either had a newer, more evil looking outer shell added to his wand . Lucius Malfoy’s silver snake head was an ornamental add on, so maybe Voldemort did something similar. 🙂

1Yes, I know Harry’s wand broke in Deathly Hallows part 1 but it was mended in Deathly Hallows part 2, so one could still say it’s the wand he used in all eight movies. Also it’s simpler that way. 🙂

What Powers Did Harry Have That Voldemort Didnt

Voldemort tried to kill Harry when he was just an infant. He should have killed him, but when Lily sacrificed herself to protect her son, Voldemorts curse rebounded and wounded him. It only left a small mark on Harry.

It is often said in the movies that it was the power of love. Now, having this world filled with power and magic and being saved by the mothers love is beautiful but kind of disappointing as an explanation. Perhaps the curse never hit Harry right due to Lilys protection, a charm, or Voldemorts wand. There are many theories.

It is also mentioned it was the kind of power Voldemort didnt expect it was old magic. Lilys sacrifice resided in Harrys blood ever since she has protected him. The killing curse rebounded and destroyed Voldemorts body. He had also had a part of his soul latch onto Harry the only living thing it found, and so another Horcrux was created. But this one was not planned.

Harrys parents were Aurors, they wanted to fight Voldemort and found themselves with a son in the middle of a war. So Lily Potter needed to take action and protect her family. This protection stayed with him which was seen after the last battle.

In Deathly Hallows, when Harry goes into the forest to fight Voldemort to sacrifice himself, he still has a part of Voldemorts soul within him without even knowing. But the protection from his mother is still there.

    What is Voldemort

Does Harry and Voldemort have the same wand? They had different wands. Harrys wand was made of holly, while Lord Voldemort had a wand of yew. However, their wand did share the same core Fawkess tail feather. This was because a fragment of Lord Voldemorts soul resided in Harry.

How did Sirius get his wand back?

The one his Gran bought for him after she was proud of him battling it out at the ministry did. Last one Ollivander made before being taken by the DE, IIRC. As far as Voldemorts wand, I think Ms. Rowling said that Pettigrew took it back after the failed attack and kept it for him to curry favor.

Did Tom Riddle get his wand from Ollivanders? Riddle entered Ollivanders Wand Shop and, as was the case with most young witches and wizards, tried several different wands to find one to his liking. Ollivander finally handed Riddle a wand thirteen and one half inches long, made of yew and with a core composed of a Phoenix feather which chose Riddle as its master.

    Wand And Wizard Reunited

In June of 1994 many years later, Peter Pettigrew was forced out of hiding in his Animagus form of a rat by his former friends, Sirius Black and Remus Lupin. The pair were of a mind to kill Pettigrew for his betrayal of the Potters as well as his subsequent framing of Black for the massacre Pettigrew himself had committed, resulting in Black’s incarceration in the wizarding prison Azkaban for twelve years. However, Harry Potter intervened on Pettigrew’s behalf and persuaded Black and Lupin to turn him over to the Dementors of Azkaban rather than kill him, so they could clear Black’s name. This created a Life debt between Pettigrew and Harry, which would be a great help one day years later. However, when Lupin unexpectedly assumed his werewolf form, Pettigrew was able to escape in the confusion and transformed into a rat, escaping to find Lord Voldemort and help him return to power.

    A Harry Potter Example:

To give an example, let’sassume that J.K. Rowling was God and the Harry Potter books were her bible. Consider the scene that occurs in the graveyard in Goblet of Fire, where Harry forces Voldemorts wand to expel the shadows or echoes of its previous spells including his own dead parents. In that scene, James and Lily emerge and comfort Harry in an emotionally gut-wrenching scene, giving Harry the strength to defeat Voldemort.

Comes Tosfos and asks a question: How is it possible that James came out of Voldemort’s wand before Lily, despite Lily having been killed more recently. How can this be if wands discharge victims in reverse chronological order?

Tosfos answers: Although Lily may have died more recently, spiritually, she “died”earlier when she watched Voldemort kill her husband James, and in that sense, her death was “first.” Tosfos brings a proof to this idea from the Gemara in Baba Basra that says that a woman only makes a covenant with the husband of her youth.

Comes along Rav Akiva Eiger and asks a question on Tosfos: Why didn’t Tosfos provide a far simpler explanation, Voldemort’s wand was made from “yew with a phoenix feather core.” Throughout the Potter series, it is clear that wands with a phoenix core are erratic and do not conform to the standard rules of magic. Why did Tosfos have to resort to creating two distinct categories of death and avoid giving the more simple explanation, that Voldemort’s wand behaved erratically?

It Has A Long And Bloody History

Unlike the Resurrection Stone and Invisibility Cloak, which were handed down through the Gaunt and Potter family lines respectively, the Elder Wand was repeatedly seized by power-hungry wizards. In the words of Xenophilius Lovegood: The bloody trail of the Elder Wand is splattered across the pages of wizarding history.

Egbert the Egregious was said to have slaughtered Emeric the Evil to win ownership. Over a century later, Godelot, who had the wand in his possession while writing Magick Moste Evile, perished after being locked in the cellar by his own son Hereward. Loxias ended the reign of the fearsome warlock Barnabas Deverill, only to be defeated himself by an unknown person who presumably took the wand for their own. In the twentieth century, the wizards Gregorovitch, Gellert Grindelwald and Severus Snape were all slaughtered in Lord Voldemorts pursuit of the Elder Wand.

As Dumbledore stated in Tales of Beedle the Bard, Those who are knowledgeable about wandlore will agree that wands do indeed absorb the expertise of those who use them. With the volume of dark deeds attributed to the Elder Wand, that is a terrifying thought.

Why Did Voldemort Use Nagini Instead Of His Wand To Kill Professor Snape

    VoldemortWand_Holly_00

When Voldemort killed Professor Snape he believed that Snape was the true master of The Elder Wand. He had learned a lot about wands and how they work from Ollivander by this point and believed that the Killing Curse would not work on Snape because Snape was the wands master.

Although Snape was not the true master of The Elder Wand, Voldemort was unaware of this and believed he needed to use another method to kill him. Knowing he had limited time to act he chose what was closest and most effective in his mind Nagini.

Why Did Voldemort Want To Kill Harry Potter

Harry Potter: How Wands Are Made

After so many years, books, and movies, we still cant help but wonder why? Why Harry? Why was he the chosen one and why was he so important to Voldemort? Harry played a key role in Voldemorts diabolical comeback plan in The Goblet of Fire, and we cant forget he was the one who needed to die in order to destroy Voldemort. But Voldemort didnt know about this. So why did Voldemort want to kill Harry so badly?

Voldemort wanted to kill Harry Potter because of a prophecy that claimed there was a boy whose powers will be the end of Voldemort. It wasnt clear if that child was Harry Potter or Neville Longbottom. However, Voldemort chose Harry since they shared a similar past and was convinced he was his mortal enemy.

But the story of the prophecy is so interesting and you will only know it if you have read the books. In the movies, we never discover Neville could have been the chosen one and we never witness the scene where professor Sybil Trelawney tells the prophecy. So keep reading if you wish to find out more about this famous rivalry and how it began!

How Did Voldemort Regain His Wand

Lord Voldemort and his wand were reunited sometime during 1994 when Peter Pettigrew returned it to the Dark Lord. After being forced out of hiding by his friends Sirius Black and Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew fled for his life and was forced to go looking for the Dark Lord. He recovered Voldemorts wand from its hiding place and went searching for its master.

Peter eventually reunited with Voldemort in Albania. There, he assisted his master in forming a weak, makeshift body that allowed his master to move about and perform magic. It was the first time Voldemort had been reunited with his wand since their separation in Godrics Hollow and marked the start of his terrifying return to power.

    What Happened To Voldemorts Wand

We dont actually have a final answer to this question. In Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Voldemort uses his wand until it commits what he regards as its last act. The last time we know of Voldemort using the wand is to break into Dumbledores tomb to steal The Elder Wand.

After this, he no longer uses his original wand. There is no final determination of what happened to the wand. Fans seem to agree the wand was discarded or destroyed by Voldemort himself, as he viewed it as a weakness due to the shared core with Harry Potters wand.

Ralph Fiennes Requested A Hook On Voldemort’s Wand

According to a comment from user PristineAnimator683, the reason for the hook element at the grip of Voldemort’s wand had something to do with Ralph Fiennes, as he requested the wand to be designed this way. According to the user, the actor wanted to move more “fluidly and snake-like” without dropping his wand in the process. Although Fiennes was never quoted saying that it helped him be more “fluid and snake-like,” in a video interview with GQ, the actor did confirm that he requested that the hook be added, but more so for it to not fall off as he felt the wand should be an extension of his hand. Fiennes noted that he appreciated its lightness, and it helped throughout the production of the films.

Other users on the Reddit thread soon began suggesting possible and plausible reasons why a dark wizard might have a hook on a wand in the Wizarding World to support the actor’s choice, with many suggesting that it could be prevention to the disarmament and the Expelliarmus spells. User quirx90 joked that they always wondered why wizards never put a Wii strap on their wand to keep it from flying away, but user Ritz527 was quick to say that with the way magic works in the Wizarding World, the strap would probably break anyways. User barbeque_invader supported that claim, as they mentioned the spell itself is literally to “disarm” when cast, so “it might make the strap not work as though you forgot to even use it.”
