Professors & Other Hogwarts Staff
- “Second to Miss Hermione Granger… for the use of cool logic in the face of fire, I award Gryffindor house fifty points!”
- Dumbledore awarding Hermione last-minute points at the feast at the end of her first year
Albus Dumbledore, her former headmaster
As with most aspects of the wizarding world, Hermione read about Albus Dumbledore shortly after learning that she was a witch. Hermione on her very first train journey revealed she wanted to be in Gryffindor because it was the house that Dumbledore belonged to. She first met the Hogwarts headmaster during her her first year at the school, in 1991, and quickly came to respect Dumbledore’s immense power and seemingly infinite wisdom. Although Dumbledore was not as close with her as he was with Harry Potter, he showed great insight into her character very early on. She was one of only three students Dumbledore bequeathed a personal item, as he believed her to be, along with Ron Weasley, trustworthy of accompanying Harry on his mission to destroy Voldemort‘s Horcruxes.
He respected her intellect, perspicacity, and level-headedness, admitting to Harry that he had counted on Hermione to keep things in perspective when the trio finally discovered the existence of the Deathly Hallows. Hermione was devastated when Dumbledore was killed, and visited his portrait with Harry and Ron after the Battle of Hogwarts to determine the fate of the Hallows.
Rubeus Hagrid, her friend and professor
Nymphadora Tonks Natalia Tena
Tonks may have been sidelined in the Harry Potter films more than we would have liked, but Natalia Tena did a wonderful job with what she had. Her talents did not go to waste, as she moved on to star in another hugely popular fantasy series, Game of Thrones. Tena also co-starred in Origins alongside a fellow Harry Potter cast member, Tom Felton. Unfortunately, Youtube did not pick up the show for a second season. Most recently she joined yet another massive franchise, having appeared in an episode of The Mandalorian on Disney+.
Lavender Brown Jessie Cave
Jessie Cave did an unforgettable job as Lavender Brown in Half-Blood Prince, its no wonder shes had so many roles in various films and tv shows since Potter ended. Some of her most notable projects include 2012s Great Expectations with Ralph Fiennes, Pride, , Black Mirror, and Father Brown. Her next project is, coincidentally, called The Potters, though not much is known about it as this time. Aside from acting, Cave also published a book of cartoons in 2015, some of which have also been made into greeting cards.

Magical Abilities And Skills
Hermione is portrayed during the whole series as an exceptionally talented young witch. J.K. Rowling has stated that Hermione is a “borderline genius.” She received ten O.W.L.s, which were nine Outstandings and one Exceeds Expectations. She is the best student in Harry’s year and is repeatedly the first student to master any spell or charm introduced in her classes and even from more advanced years, as evidenced when she can conjure a Protean Charm on the D.A.’s fake Galleon coins, which is a N.E.W.T. level charm. She is also the first one of her age to be able to cast non-verbal spells. Hermione is a competent duellist Rowling has stated that while during the first three books Hermione could have beaten Harry in any magical duel, but by the fourth book Harry had become so good at Defence Against the Dark Arts that he would have defeated Hermione. Hermione did not tend to do as well in subjects that were not learned through books or formal training, as broom flying did not come as naturally to her in her first year as it did to Harry, and she showed no affinity for Divination, which she dropped from her third-year studies. She was also not good at Wizard’s Chess, as it was the only thing at which she ever lost to Ron.
She Never Apologized To Ron For Her Pet Attacking His
Poor Ron had to tolerate a lot from Hermione, including her pet Crookshanks. In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Crookshanks terrorized Rons pet all the time and she never said sorry for it. Ron was very upset when his pet Scabbers was attacked, but Hermione just brushed it off. She’s not the greatest example of a responsible pet owner.

Dolores Umbridge Imelda Staunton
After a perfect performance as the villain you loved to hate, Imelda Staunton went on to star in multiple theatre roles in London in which she received 5 Olivier Award Nominations, including a win for her performance in Gypsy. She has also kept up appearances on the silver screen with roles in both Maleficent films, both Paddington films, and an appearance in the Downton Abbey movie, alongside her husband, and Downton Abbey star, Jim Carter.
Little Miss Know It All
Miss Granger might be well versed in a lot of topics. However, sometimes she does come off as an insufferable know it all who always thinks she is right and has a habit of shoving her opinions down people’s throats. She often makes decisions that affect those around her without consulting them first.

What Hermione From Harry Potter Really Should Have Looked Like
Given how ubiquitous the Harry Potter films have become, it’s hard to separate Emma Watson’s portrayal of the heroic Hermione Granger from the character that first came to life in the pages of J.K. Rowling’s magnum opus. Watson has basically become synonymous with Harry’s bookish BFF, though there will always be a certain subset of fans who never quite got onboard with the casting. The general complaint is that Rowling never intended Hermione to be as beautiful as the radiant Watson in fact, the author spent most of the series going out of her way to describe Miss Granger’s physically unappealing traits, emphasizing her priority on less skin-deep concerns.
This criticism isn’t without merit. If the casting directors over at Warner Bros. had stayed true to the letter of Rowling’s source material, we likely would have ended up with a different Hermione Granger. To get a better picture of what the real Hermione Granger should have looked like, we have to dive deep into the books. It’s all there for close readers to find.

She Attacked Ron Because She Was Jealous
It’s true that Ron didn’t always treat Hermione right, especially when he dated Lavender Brown and he was less than discreet about their relationship. In fact, he had the tendency to throw it right into Hermione’s face.
That said, Hermione, with all her intelligence, still could have acted in a more appropriate way instead of attacking Ron with the birds she conjured up. That made her seem quite immature, even though she wasn’t.

Bossy And Never Apologises For Her Mistakes
Hermione can be rather bossy at times and often belittled Ron. She never apologized to Ron for the bird attack, or how she refuses to get Crookshanks under control and insists on Ron leaving Scabbers in the dorm. We later learn that Scabbers isnt the terrified rodent we thought he was but still, Hermione didnt know that at the time.
What She Dealt With
At one point when she was very young she was locked in a room with a boggart, which is a monster that turns into the individuals worst nightmare. But when Hermione found herself in this trap, her nightmare happened to be getting news that she failed all of her classes. This boggart was a test for the dark arts exam she had to take, but without a doubt, it was something that greatly bothered her! While this might have been a nightmare weve all experienced at some point when in college, for Hermione, with how seriously she took her education, theres no doubt that this test of willpower was probably devastating and horrific for her, especially because of how hard she pushes herself to do better. Even in the film, she ran out of the test screaming because of how horrible the vision was.
