What Is Dumbledore’s Brother’s Name

Don't Miss

He’s Only A Half Sibling Of Albus

Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore’s Ridiculously Long Name Finally Explained At Last

Considering that Aurelius was born in 1901, his Dumbledore heritage kind of messes up the timeline of his birth. If he really is Albus Dumbledore’s brother, he can only be his half brother. Albus’s mother, Kendra Dumbledore, notably passed away in the summer of 1899 after an outburst from her daughter Ariana.

At this time, Albus’ only living parent was Percival Dumbledore, who was sentenced to life in Azkaban in 1890. While it was first believed that Percival lived out the rest of his life in Azkaban, it now seems possible that he escaped at some point around 1900, in which time he met Aurelius’s biological mother. Hopefully, the details of this will be revealed later down the road, but for now, it’s safe to say that Kendra Dumbledore is definitely not Aurelius’s mother.

Did Aberforth Dumbledore Have A Child

Aberforth Dumbledore is the last known male Dumbledore to be living after June 1997 and he has no children, so on his death the family will be extinct in the male line.

Who wrote Dumbledores obituary? After Dumbledores death, Elphias wrote a heartfelt obituary for the Daily Prophet. At Bill and Fleurs wedding, Elphias stated to Harry Potter that he certainly knew Albus the longest, if you didnt count his own brother, Aberforth.

Is Ariana Dumbledore Credences mother? So no. Credence is not Arianas son. Virtually impossible. First off, Ariana died in 1899, and Credence was probably born around 1901, meaning she was dead for two years by the time he was born.

Albus Dumbledore’s Father Died In Azkaban

As mentioned, Ariana experienced a childhood trauma that may have turned her into an Obscurial. That trauma came at the result of the assault of a gang of young Muggle boys, who later suffered at the hands of Dumbledore’s father Percival. Percival was arrested, convicted by the Ministry of Magic for his assault and sent to Azkaban, where he remained until his death.

Albus Dumbledore’s revelation in the Harry Potter books that Percival died in Azkaban further complicates the notion that he has a brother he doesn’t know about. Additionally, the films took Percival’s actions one step further with it being stated he killed the Muggle boys, which would make his parole or unknown release highly unlikely. Basically, if Albus has a brother, it’s more than likely Percival was not the father of the child.

He Was Too Afraid To Leave His Foster Home

One of the more confusing aspects of the Crimes of Grindelwald timeline is the fact that Credence appeared to be 25 during the events of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, where he still lived in his foster home. Initially, many fans thought that Credence was only about 18 during the events of the first Fantastic Beasts, but the fact that he was 25 actually reveals a bit more about where his character was emotionally.

In America, most foster kids are allowed to leave their home once they are 18, but this wasn’t the case of Credence. More than likely, his adoptive mother, Mary Lou Barebone, brainwashed him to fear the outside world for his entire childhood. It’s also possible that Mary Lou never even allowed Credence the option to leave, considering how abusive she was in the movie.

40 Magical Facts About Albus Dumbledore, Hogwarts

At the end of “The Crimes of Grindelwald,” Grindelwald tells Credence that his name is actually Aurelius Dumbledore, and that his brother presumably referring to Albus is trying destroy him.

The reveal left fans puzzled, mostly because timeline-wise, it wasn’t possible for Albus and Aurelius to be brothers. Percival Dumbledore, Albus and Aberforth’s father, was imprisoned before Albus entered Hogwarts in 1892. Their mother, Kendra, died in 1899.

However, Ezra Miller, who plays Credence in the films, stated that the character was 18 years old in the first “Fantastic Beasts,” which is set in 1926. That would place his birth somewhere around 1907 or 1908, and it would have been impossible for him to have been born to either of the Dumbledore parents.

There was some speculation at the time that Credence could have been tied to Albus and Aberforth’s aunt, Honoria, who is first mentioned in the spin-off book “The Tales of Beedle the Bard.” However, little was known about her.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows

Rowling used several chapters in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows to reveal two major details concerning Dumbledore: his early life and his death. The book introduces his parents, Percival and Kendra Dumbledore, as well as his little sister, Ariana his brother, Aberforth Dumbledore, was mentioned in previous books. At six years old, Ariana was attacked by three Muggle boys who had witnessed her performing magic. Because of this attack, Ariana was seriously traumatised and never able to control her magic again. Enraged, Percival attacked the Muggle boys , and was given a life sentence in Azkaban. After this, Kendra moved her family to the village of Godric’s Hollow. In one of her outbursts, Ariana accidentally killed Kendra at around the time that Albus completed his education. Albus became the head of the family and was forced to remain in his house with his sister while Aberforth completed his education.

Decades later, in 1945, Dumbledore finally defeated the now-Dark wizard Grindelwald, who had come to possess the Elder Wand. Grindelwald’s defeat made Dumbledore the master of the Elder Wand, which remained his until just before his death, when Draco used the Disarming Charm on him.

Dumbledore had another Hallow in his keeping since the death of James Potter: the Invisibility Cloak, which he had borrowed to examine. When James died, Dumbledore kept the cloak and decided to pass it on to Harry, James’ son.

We see the destructive power of the Second World War during Grindelwalds vision of a violent future. Will the Muggle War have a connection to Grindelwalds defeat? Fans have long suspected a connection. How will Dumbledore destroy the blood pact and thus destroy Grindelwald?

Harry Potter: The Dumbledore Family Tree Explained

The Harry Potter universe often emphasizes the importance of bloodlines – here’s a breakdown of who’s who in the Dumbledore family tree.

Warning: Spoilers for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.

The story of Albus Dumbledore’s family tree is rife with deception, betrayal, and heartbreak in the Harry Potter franchise. From his legendary duel with Grindelwald to his appointment as Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Dumbledore is indeed a powerful wizard, making his family history all the more noteworthy. First appearing in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Dumbledore acts as a mentor figure to a young Harry Potter often sending the Boy Who Lived on dangerous quests along with his friends Ron and Hermione.

Throughout the original Harry Potter series, Dumbledore sends the titular wizard and his friends on increasingly perilous adventures to defeat the dark wizard Lord Voldemort and his Death Eater followers. This had led some critics to wonder how Dumbledore gets away with putting others in danger. But as more light has been shed on his family name, the moral complexities of the wizard’s life throughout have become increasingly apparent.

So What Does That Mean For The Series

The History of Albus Dumbledore | Harry Potter

The most obvious implication for the rest of the Fantastic Beasts series is thematic. J.K. Rowling loves parallelism, so if the Dumbledore connection is true, then shes likely setting up a bunch of parallels between Credence/Aurelius and Harry himself.

Theyre both orphans, both raised by abusive guardians who were extremely paranoid of witches. Both grew up completely separated from the wizarding world, yet both eventually discovered themselves to belong to extremely prominent magical families with hugely important roles to play in the ongoing struggle between light and dark wizards. Both are extremely powerful wizards in their own right and crucially, both seem to have been scoped out and targeted by dark wizards wanting to exploit them for their own agendas.

Of course, the way their parallel origin stories play out has been quite different for each of them thus far. Credence has been alternately courted and cast aside by Grindelwald, depending on how useful he appears to be. Harry was initially marked for death by Voldemort, and apart from a few moments of tempting him, that pretty much never changed.

However, given that the previously established canonical timeline seems to be rapidly derailing and speeding up, theres just no telling where well land. Only one thing seems certain: What we know of the wizarding world will probably be very different by the end of Fantastic Beasts than when the franchise began.

Dumbledores Love For Grindelwald Explains His Backstory

As mentioned before, Dumbledores backstory was a mystery throughout the Harry Potter books and movies, but Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows revealed his former alliance with Grindelwald. Harry learned that Dumbledore was once a wizarding supremacist and was about to start a revolution with Grindelwald, and when he met Aberforth, he also learned about the biggest tragedy in the Dumbledore family. Albus alliance with Grindelwald led him to neglect his duties as Arianas caretaker, and his mission would have dragged Aberforth and Ariana with him, so Aberforth confronted him. This made Albus realize what he had been doing and what he was getting involved in, which angered Grindelwald, leading him to use the Cruciatus Curse on Aberforth. A duel then erupted between Albus, Aberforth, and Grindelwald, in which Ariana was hit by a stray curse, killing her. Being a wizarding supremacist doesnt fit at all with the Albus Dumbledore that readers, viewers, Harry, and many other characters in the history of the Wizarding World knew, but the reveal of him having been in love with Grindelwald explains that part of his backstory, and makes his whole story even more tragic.

Credence Interacts With A Phoenix In The Film

At the end of “The Crimes of Grindelwald,” Grindelwald reveals to Credence that he is actually a member of the Dumbledore family, and that his birth name was Aurelius. At the time, he also tells Credence that a phoenix will always come to a Dumbledore in need.

Credence is seen in “The Secrets of Dumbledore” interacting with a phoneix that follows him in the film. It parallels Credence’s own declining health, brought about by his condition as an Obscurial.

Visual effects supervisor Christian Mänz said in the film’s production notes that the animal is “less red and vibrant and much grayer than we’ve seen it before,” taking the design of the creature from previous films but making it “a bit worse for wear.”

Newt Scamander And Fantastic Beasts

Aurelius Dumbledore SOLVED | Harry Potter Theory

Dumbledore’s relationship with the famous magizoologist Newt Scamander rivals that of his future relationship with Harry Potter. With Newt, Dumbledore was his Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, mentor and confidant, and they continued their relationship long after Newt left Hogwarts. It is during one of these Dumbledore-backed missions that we follow Newt in the “Fantastic Beasts” film series.

Newt became embroiled in the mission to capture Grindelwald when Dumbledore sent him to New York to return a Thunderbird to its rightful home in Arizona. In the second film, “The Crimes of Grindelwald,” Grindelwald escapes the ministry’s clutches and races to find Credence Barebone , who is an Obscurial after repressing his magical abilities. Dumbledore then sends Newt to Paris to rescue Credence, on his own quest to learn who he truly is.

Both Newt and Dumbledore are being watched by the Ministry of Magic, and Dumbledore is questioned at Hogwarts about his involvement with the search for Credence and Grindelwald. At the end of “The Crimes of Grindelwald,” Newt shows Dumbledore the vial containing Dumbledore’s and Grindelwald’s blood pact, which was stolen off of Grindelwald by his Niffler. Newt then asks Dumbledore if he can destroy it so that Dumbledore can finally move against the dark wizard.
