What Is Ron’s Energy
One of Rons biggest strengths that continuously helped the trio was once his wisdom of the wizarding international. While Hermione might had been the neatest of the gang who knew probably the most about magic and historical past, Ron knew issues about the culture that the other two couldnt know as they grew up within the Muggle global.
What Grade Level Is Harry Potter For
One of the most engrossing elements of the Harry Potter series is that the children grow a year older with each book.
They are excited 11-year-olds in book one, and by the time the story hits its climax in book seven, they are 18. We get to see these favorite protagonists mature as they combat sinister powers in a battle between good and bad.
The children are on a mission to destroy the Dark Lord Voldemort in the season. Voldemort intends to destroy both the Wizarding and regular worlds to achieve immortality.
In general, the ideas in these stories evolve as the series progresses. This enables children to progress through each book as they grow and develop. Of course, every child is special.
As a parent or teacher, you will understand your childs or students readiness better than anyone else. These age guidelines are only meant to serve as a roadmap to help you decide when to begin.
The Sorcerers Stone, like all Harry Potter novels, explores certain difficult subjects, but in a gentle manner that will encourage constructive conversation.
There are several quite frightening scenes for example, halfway through the novel, the children encounter an evil troll that they must defeat together.
After the novel, there is a lengthy battle scene between Harry and the wicked Voldemort. Its also worth noting that this book addresses the subject of parental mortality.

This means that theyll be able to weigh in on not only how challenging of a read a particular book is but also the topics and themes that are addressed in each. Why Did Jim Kay Become An Illustrator

Tips For Matching Reading Level Interest And Maturity
A common dilemma occurs when the readability level of a book is not a good match for your childs interest or maturity level. This is often the case when a child reads significantly ABOVE or BELOW their current grade level. As I discussed in my last post, “Your Child’s Reading Level Explained,” matching reading materials to your child’s reading level is crucial to the learning process and their development as readers.
BELOW level books can have often have immature or simplistic content, causing the reader to lose interest. For example, a 9 year boy old who reads on first grade level may not want to read Clifford the Big Red Dog, even though it’s wonderful book and a good match for his reading abilities. He may become discouraged from reading if he is not given choices that suit his preferences and maturity level.
On the other hand, ABOVE level text may have overly mature content. Many high level readers in elementary school are eager to delve into popular series such as Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, or Twilight. Just because a child can handle the text complexity, does not necessarily mean you want them to be exposed to mature, violent, or downright scary content. Although there are many redeeming qualities to the literature, there are reasons why some of the movies have been rated PG-13. Often books can be even more vivid than movies in their descriptions of violent or sexual scenes.

The Harry Potter Films
The Harry Potter books have been made into eight films which were released between 2001 and 2011.
The films star English actors Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint in the leading roles of Harry Potter and his best friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley.
The films are terrific for adults and for children although, as with the books, they get progressively darker and more scary with more adult themes as you progress through the series. With that in mind, it can be a good idea to watch them yourself before you introduce your younger children to them.

The Harry Potter Series: Ages And Stages
The first three Harry Potter books are great to read aloud to kids aged from about six or seven up. Certainly most children – both boys and girls – will love them from the age of eight.
If your eight-year-old is a fairly capable reader, he or she will probably be able to read the first three books independently. Remember though, that it can be fun to read aloud to older children and the Harry Potter books are great for this purpose because most adults enjoy the stories too.
The last four books are long and quite complex. Certainly many ten-year-olds will be quite capable of reading them but again, I think they’re great for reading aloud to kids aged up to about eleven.
Most teens will enjoy reading the books and in fact the seventh and final book in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is probably not suitable for readers under about thirteen. And if your teen does want to read the whole series, there are editions with more adult-looking covers so they’re not embarrassed to be seen reading what they probably think of as kids’ books.
The seven books in the Harry Potter series, in order, are:
A Breakdown Of The Hogwarts School Curriculum By Year
Harry Potter’s school year keeps getting disrupted by the latest thing Voldemort is planning but what would a normal Hogwarts curriculum look like?
Its safe to say there are a lot of questions about the Hogwarts curriculum. Unlike the Muggle world, young witches and wizards dont seem to bother with math or reading classes . Instead, their curriculum consists of fantastical subjects called things like “Care of Magical Creatures” and “Transfiguration.” The students dont seem to really spend time on anything mundane, which makes sense. Magic does seem pretty complicated in itself. Of course, in the books, the trio doesnt seem to actually spend that much time in classes. Their school year keeps getting disrupted by the latest terrible thing Voldemort is planning, and they dont even bother with their seventh year.
At the end of The Half-Blood Prince, Harry insists that he wont return to Hogwarts, deciding that destroying the Horcruxes is more important. Likewise, Ron and Hermione decide that theyre in it until the end with Harry, so audiences dont even get a look at what their seventh year would have been like. With the Death Eaters having essentially taken over the school at that point, it probably wouldnt have been a great experience anyway. So while Harry, Ron, and Hermione were off being heroes and saving the day, what were the rest of the students actually learning?

Why Should You Read Harry Potter With Basmo
Before getting your child to read the Harry Potter books, its probably a good idea for you to read them first if you havent already. Not only is that very useful because you will be able to decide for yourself when your kid should read them and you will be able to discuss with him or her about the story, the books are also extremely enjoyable regardless of the readers age. I remember when I was a kid that I would have loved it if my parents would have read the books as well so I could share the experience with them.
If you want to read the Harry Potter series before your child does, its probably a good idea to do so while using . This comes with a series of advantages which will benefit you and your child at the same time.

What Other Method Can I Use To Determine My Childs Harry Potter Reading Level
A childrens librarian is another excellent resource for determining if your kid is ready to read Harry Potter novels. They may not be acquainted with every book in the library, but they are well-versed in all things Harry Potter.
This means theyll be able to comment on how difficult a book is to read and what subjects and themes are handled in each. As a parent, this will help you make a better-educated decision about whether or not its time to send your child to Hogwarts.

High Interest Below Level Books
If you need to purchase low reading level books, look for books that have easier text, but appeal to your child’s interests. I would recommend Step Into Reading books. These have a great selection of high interest and low readability books . They take popular stories with some of kids’ favorite characters and present them in a simplified text format. DK Readers are especially great for boys, which feature interesting nonfiction, as well as the beloved Star Wars and Lego/Super Hero themed books.

Age 8 + / 2nd And 3rd Grade
Most children are ready for the first three books in the Harry Potter series by the time they reach the 3rd grade. After around eight years old, children will generally have a good enough reading level to try out these books independently.
If your child struggles with their reading ability, reading these books aloud with them can be a great way to share these stories and have some quality bonding time together. And of course, youre bound to love the books just as much as your kids do!
Like all the Harry Potter books, The Sorcerers Stone does explore some challenging themes, but its done in a gentle way that can promote a healthy dialogue.
There are some potentially scary scenes for example, halfway through this book, the children come face to face with an evil troll they must defeat together. And at the end of the book, theres an extended fight scene between Harry and the evil Voldermort.
Its also worth noting that this book touches upon the theme of parental death. If this isnt something your child has been introduced to through other books or movies yet, it might be wise to gently broach the subject with them first
This book explores pretty similar themes to the first book, and the story follows directly on from where the first book left off.
Some of the more mature themes include the introduction of a serial killer. Unlike previous murders in the series so far, this killer has no connection to many of his victims. He kills without purpose and on a large scale.
Are The Harry Potter Illustrated Books The Same As The Original
They are the same when it comes to content on the inside! The beloved Harry Potter series brilliantly illustrated editions are full novels.
These volumes have no abridgments and are written in full color with customizable text margins. The pages are shiny, and the hardbound covers are well-built.
When were talking about the inconsistencies between the Harry Potter kids and adult versions, we can also note the differences between the U.K. editions and the American version.
The distinction is not in the plot, but in the vocabulary used. As we all know, British and American English spellings vary.
Most of the differences between the American and British versions is the use of the term sorcerer and philosopher.
There are both complete and unabridged copies, with some exceptions, such as the American edition including some translations into American idiom rather than expecting children to glance at a footnote describing the terms that are used only in Britain.
The Harry Potter series is intended for young readers. However, the way they were first published as soon as they were finished saw them getting darker and more serious as the original Harry Potter generation grew older. Books were published a couple of years apart, and the readers aged with the books.
About The Harry Potter Series
Basically the seven Harry Potter books are fantasy novels written by a British author, J K Rowling.
The books are about the adventures of a young wizard, Harry Potter, and his friends Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger. The three are students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The three friends are eleven when the first book begins and nearly eighteen at the end of the final book in the series.
The main story arc involves Harry’s quest to overcome the dark wizard, Lord Voldemort, who seeks to conquer the wizarding world, subjugate non-magical people and destroy all those who stand in the way of his becoming immortal. The books tackle many themes, among them prejudice, the power of love, corruption, death, friendship, loyalty and good vs evil. They also involve elements of mystery, romance and adventure, woven together in a series of quite complex subplots.
The first book in the Harry Potter series was released on June 1997. It was followed by six further books, all of which have been hugely popular around the world, selling over 450 million copies.
