All The Harry Potter Movies In Order From Sorcerer’s Stone To Fantastic Beasts

How Harry Potter Built Their Own World

ByJerrica Tisdalepublished 27 April 20

Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson became instant stars because of the Harry Potter movies. These films broke box office records, received many award accolades, and left their mark on pop culture forever. I, like many, grew up reading the Harry Potter books, and then spent years watching, and criticizing, the movies. I also have gotten into the Fantastic Beasts series . A great thing about the Harry Potter books and movies is their timelessness. Constantly, new people discover and fall in love with them. For those new to the world of Harry, this one’s for you: a list of all the Harry Potter movies in order of their release, including the Fantastic Beast movies.

These films arent placed in order of actual events, because who cares about accuracy, but in order of theatrical release. If you’re new to the series, you’ll want to watch them in this order the first time through…

Just Remake The Existing Stuff

I have two controversial Harry Potter-based opinions. The first is that Hufflepuff is the best house, and the second, more interesting, opinion is that the best book in the series is Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

I say controversial because plenty of fans will tell you that the penultimate book is one of the weaker in the series. Aside from its finale, nothing really happens, and the book spends most of its time as a kind of teen drama set in a wizarding school. Harry, Ron, and Hermione are just wizard schoolchildren for most of the book, not fearless adventurers.

Its these quiet moments in the Harry Potter series that I love the most, and yet theyre the ones that inevitably got cut the most when translating each of the books into individual feature-length movies. Remaking them as a Harry Potter TV series could be the thing to change this, by being able to waste a bit of time on the more mundane, and yet utterly compelling, aspects of wizarding life. Harry Potter And The $25 Billion Franchise

In anticipation of the latest film in the Harry Potter franchise, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” the full lineup of Harry Potter will be returning to theaters for a week beginning on Thursday.

Time Warner is looking to further cash in on an eight-film franchise that has already earned more than $7 billion in box office revenue since 2001. Scholastic, which sold more than 160 million copies of the seven Harry Potter novels in the U.S., also published the screenplay for the film. At $24.99 for the hardcover, that adds to the nearly $8 billion in book sales that have already been wrung out of the series.

As in the Star Wars franchise, the value of toy sales shouldn’t be underestimated. Hasbro and especially Mattel have both made money on Potter games and toys, and total sales so far are estimated at over $7 billion. All told, the total value of the franchise so far has been around $25 billion.

NBCUniversal acquired the rights to the Harry Potter movies, including the “Fantastic Beasts” movies, for a seven-year TV deal beginning in 2018. Those rights are currently held by Walt Disney Co. That deal is valued at $200 million, according to Bloomberg.

Lest it seems like the Harry Potter gravy train may be slowing, fear not! The 224-page “Fantastic Beasts” screenplay is expected to be made into its own trilogy.

Disclosure: NBCUniversal is the parent company of CNBC.

Lochaven Has Sewn Up The Market In Dressing Hollywood Stars From The Silver Screen Most Notably The Harry Potter Blockbuster Movies Starring Daniel Radcliffe Emma Watson And Robert Pattinson To Name But A Few

In 2001, Warner Bros. chose Lochaven to supply all the Hogwarts school cardigans, jumpers and tank tops worn by the cast and extras for the films in the Harry Potter series including those worn by Tom Marvolo Riddle in the retro flashback scenes. This relationship lasted until 2009 with the supply of clothing for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2. The changing styles throughout the film series was facilitated by access to Lochaven’s vast design range which dates back to the 1950’s.

All our school style garments which we offer for direct sale to the public are made in our Mill in the heart of Scotland’s traditional woollen district using only the highest quality natural lambswool. They are made in the same way, by the same people, with the same material as the garments we sell to the worldwide trade and to our most famous movie customer.

Our garments will be featured for the last time on the silver screen in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 the epic finale, the battle between good and evil forces of the Wizarding World as it escalates into an all-out war.

She Didn’t Hold Back When It Came To Designing Quality Costumes

Alongside her vision, the designer also tried to incorporate the highest-quality materials into each costume even though they were expensive and a hassle to clean.

Temime believed they were well worth the investment in the long run since “Harry Potter” shoots could last a while, and cheaper materials “would have looked terrible after one month.”

Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire

During Harry’s fourth year, Hogwarts plays host to a legendary event: the Triwizard Tournament. Three European schools participate in the tournament, with three ‘champions’ representing each school in the deadly tasks. The Goblet of Fire chooses Fleur Delacour, Viktor Krum, and Cedric Diggory to compete against each other. However, curiously, Harry’s name is also produced from the Goblet thus making him a fourth champion, which results in a terrifying encounter with a reborn Lord Voldemort.

Harry Potter Related Merchandise

Of course, there are many books and films that inspire related merchandise that is bought by fans. These often include DVDs, posters, stationery, and characters. Things went a little further with the merchandise that resulted from the Harry Potter series of books and films. There was such a large fan base that included both children and adults, that the possibilities for related merchandise were almost endless.

Two particularly popular types of merchandise that resulted from the franchise were the costumes and the wands. There are costumes for both children and adults in four different varieties. These are representative of the four Hogwarts houses Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff. Fans can choose the outfit from the house that they think they would have been selected for by the Sorting Hat based on their personality traits.

Toy wands are nothing unusual as they have been on the market for years. However, the Harry Potter wands available are different. There is a wide range of different wands available. If you have ever read the series of books or watched the films, you will know that the wands vary greatly and that the wand chooses the wizard, not the other way around. They are made from woods from various trees, come in all shapes and sizes, and contain other materials, such as unicorn hair. The wands available for fans to buy attempt to replicate the diversity of the wands in the books and films.

Harry Potter: The Next Generation

WarnerMedia could simply follow in the footsteps of Star Trek:jump ahead in time to years after the events of the original series and just create a whole new series set in the same world, but with little to no overlap of characters. Like a prequel set far in the past, moving away in time from the existing series helps avoid clashes in canon and could allow for a more contemporary look at wizarding society. The Controversy That Damaged Harry Potters Popularity

In early June of 2020, J. K. Rowling released that didnt settle well with the transgender community.

Rowling claimed that transgender women shouldnt be seen as women because they werent the same thing.

Rowling was quick to not only receive backlash from fans, but also from the actors who starred in her movies like Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Eddie Redmayne.

Many of her transgender fans felt betrayed because they identified so closely with one character or another, with the most common character being Harry Potter.

With the support of The Trevor Project, Daniel Radcliffe released a statement that he didnt agree with Rowling, despite appreciating the contributions that she had made to his life and the contributions she had made to The Trevor Project.

In addition, Radcliffe stated that he hoped that peoples memories of the books werent completely ruined by the incident.

He hoped that the stories would once again bring readers comfort and a sense of acceptance like they once did.

For that years Pride month celebration, Emma Watson donated to the transgender organizations Mermaids Gender and Mamacash.

Watson reminded her fans that she supported them and hoped for the day when their identities werent constantly being brought into question.

Rupert Grint, the actor who portrayed Ron Weasley, echoed the statements that his childhood castmates released and stated that he believes everyone is entitled to live with love and without judgment.

How It All Began

Surprisingly, it all began in Scotland. Author J.K. Rowlings marriage had ended, and she returned to Scotland with her young daughter. She was forced to sign on for welfare benefits to support herself and her child. At that time, she was also diagnosed with clinical depression.

The writer was determined to make a better life for herself and her daughter and she began to write. She used some of her own experiences as inspiration for characters and themes in the book she was writing. The dementors describe how her depression made her feel like all happiness was sucked from her soul.

Rowling has said that she had the basic concept of the storyline in her head as soon as she started writing and then just added in the details as she went along. She soon had the first book in the series completed. This was titled Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. She began sending out copies of her manuscript to publishers but faced one rejection after another. Using witches and wizards as the central characters in a storyline wasnt a new idea and the publishers didnt think her book would attract too much attention.

Editor Barry Cunningham from Bloomsbury thought differently and gave her an advance of £1,500 for the first book. Rowling was also awarded £8,000 by the Scottish Arts Council so that she could continue to write. The book was finally published in June 1997 and this was the start of an amazing journey for both J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter.

Harry Potter And The Half

In Harry’s sixth year at Hogwarts, Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters are increasing their terror upon the Wizarding and Muggle worlds. Headmaster Albus Dumbledore persuades his old friend Horace Slughorn to return to Hogwarts as a professor as there is a vacancy to fill. There is a more important reason, however, for Slughorn’s return. While in a Potions lesson, Harry takes possession of a strangely annotated school textbook, inscribed ‘This is the property of the Half-Blood Prince’. Draco Malfoy struggles to carry out a mission presented to him by Voldemort. Meanwhile, Dumbledore and Harry secretly work together to discover the method on how to destroy the Dark Lord once and for all.
